I like the grey of grey, mineral violet and leaf grreen, or colors i cant get from daniel smith. I also like the opera rose or brilliant pink, and for some reason all the operas or pigments that contain pr122 was either pulled from the shelves on amazon or is out of stock. Its weird, even wisteria that is mostly white with a touch of pr122 is gone, one retailer will pop up with "in stock", then quickly go away. Maybe a new fad i havent heard of.

Hey man! I only have about a half dozen Holbein wc's but they are quite nice. I don't need to stock up on yet another brand but I see why people like them. I really love their gouache. Next to Schmincke, Holbein gouache topped my list.
@owingsart4 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve - I agree with you on the Holbein gouache for sure, but like you, I prefer the Schmincke just a tiny little bit more. I saw you just posted a new video and I'm heading over to check it out. Hope you are well my friend. Talk to you soon.

Hi Denise - Really great to hear from you and it makes me feel good that the video brought you some comfort. Crazy times right now and it's therapeutic for me to return to doing some videos. Not sure how long I'll do them, but it's real good to know people enjoy them. Hope you and Carl and the family are hanging in there and making the best of life despite the situation.

Oh my gosh! Marty! Welcome back! Missed you so BIG! Thanks for the review. I've always wondered about these watercolors. Some people say they're great for beginners because they don't move as much as other watercolors, therefore, you have a little more control over them. I really love the vivid colors. They're pretty pricey from what I've seen here in the USA.

Thank you very much Alicia, those are such kind words and very much appreciated. Sometimes you can get these on sale which is the best way to buy them. :-)

So happy that you’re back, we’ve missed you, Marty. I have one question however. Why is white in so many watercolor palettes, since most watercolorist would never use it? Hope to see you soon. Keep safe!
@roundcrouton4 жыл бұрын
I think its that white is one those colours that have transferred from oil paint sets. The mentality of having white is so old that everyone does it and that they have the mindset of if its not broke don't change it. Even if it's impractical for the traditional watercolour painter.
@rhondamagee74594 жыл бұрын
Round Crouton ok, makes sense. I work mostly with acrylic, colored pencil and graphite. We do use whites
@owingsart4 жыл бұрын
Howdy Rhonda! Thanks for the kind words. I'm one of those weird painters that uses white a LOT. I use it to tone down other colors, especially when I'm trying to get a precise tonal value. For example skin tones, which have a million varieties. I also use it in my landscapes for toning greens, blues and browns. There's probably a better way, but this is what I learned. Hope that makes some sense. All the best - Marty

Hi Marty! These really were popping off the page. Beautiful colours, I'll have to see if they're available around here and keep an eye out for them next time I'm looking for a colour (or new set that accidentally slips into my online cart)🤪 I love writing with fountain pens, do you know if those ones have really firm nibs or do they have some pressure sensitivity? I have been looking for some that have a bit of pressure sensitivity and so many of them are so firm! Good to see you back so soon, hope you're getting a chance to do some art amidst all of this, be well. :)
@owingsart4 жыл бұрын
Hi Annie - So good to hear from you! Yes, I know exactly what you mean about things slipping into the cart, heheheheh. These Keweco fountain pens don't have especially sensitive nibs, they are kinda firm actually, but not overly so. Sorry I can't be clearer. They are just sort of flexible. I like them just the same because the work great and the ink flows nicely. Price point isn't bad either. Thanks for the note Annie. Hope you are taking care of yourself.
@AnnieThyme4 жыл бұрын
@@owingsart thanks Marty, I know what you mean about the pen nibs. It sounds like I'd like them as pens anyways from what you said (fountain pens are one of my many weaknesses) I have just been in search of a slightly more flexible one and thought if these were like that I might hurry up and see about getting one a bit sooner (& not buy anymore that were much firmer than I hoped for- I can't get some of the brands I used to like for this here anymore, or that I know would have more give in them from seeing other reviews and usage online.) Thanks for the info on the pens, and also the paint (your channel is bad for my wallet, but...good for looking forward to trying more things so it balances out. :) Have a good one!
