Owl city didn’t know he was the sole reason I didn’t kill myself in 2007 but here I am today still completely in love with the magic he composed. I listened to him every single day on loop for my entire teen years and here I am 31 and I couldn’t thank Adam young more for showing up on MySpace so many years ago. The life I needed has always came from his lyrical genius. I wish I could meet him one time to thank him

I believe my neurodivergent mind has always needed owl city, but this song, it is my everything. I need it at my wedding, I need it when my first child comes into this world, and it will have to play at my funeral. As people with mental health disabilities we often feel so lost in an ocean of chaos, but Adam reminds us we are never lost at sea, because we are the entire ocean. Fill those waters with boundless unconditional love for yourself and be compassionate. You’ll find that your seas come with an immense power to love life and the beauty that graces our own

Song interpretation: Let me know if you agree or if you have something entirely different! “June was the lobster shell I dug by hand A haven that hid me well Beneath the sand” He has found emotional stability/safety. He’s hiding within himself. "The wide windy waves washed in But I stayed dry The great breakers broke again As I nodded off inside." He has built barriers inside himself to protect him from emotional pain, and has therefore shut off emotions all together. "And then When the Empress ran aground And my eyes turned blue and green" Someone has entered his life (a girl) and brought life with her. His eyes have new life in them. "I heard a gorgeous sound And that's when it became a dream When the sky fell in When the hurricanes came for me" Trials or depression has returned. "I could finally crash again" He’s not afraid to go “crash” though and live life, even with the pain. "And that's how I became the sea" He’s accepting the ups and downs of life. "I wrenched the engines off And drank them down" He’s taking the extreme control over his emotions off. "The depths turned the iron soft As they swiftly drowned" He (becoming the sea, with his new life) is watching the emotional control leave. "And I brought the ocean side To its rusty knees" He is not letting depression get the best of him and is living. "As I felt the even tide Deep in my shallow dreams"

When the beauty of life flows through you, the music, sounds, and lyrics - this guy feels! Owl city - Human who is Being, human being.
@GothKid19965 жыл бұрын
Natural disaster is not wrong. When things happen in your life, too powerful to hold, you fall asleep, and then fade back in as a new being, it’s a beautiful dream from above, with tremendous power, and potential. Everybody should serve the meaning of this song with their life. Let the storms of life wash over you and cry not in sadness but for the fact that life is infinitely vast and unpredictable. That awareness alone is what created owl city. So if there’s something that’s missing in your life or it feels like there’s an empty elevator with your name on it leading straight to heaven. TAKE IT TAKE IT TAKE IT! And don’t let any western standard, or societal misconception weight you down and stiffen you up. Just be a soft leaf in the wind flying to and fro. And have faith that god will take you excactly where you need to go in life.
