As someone currently going to art school after working through public school and managing to get a scholarship, I relate to Tylor's position as being stuck unable to follow his passion, but the fact they mix it with the generic 'learn to appreciate the wacky situation' almost makes the show develop in reverse for me. Monsters at Work feels more like a display of Stockholm Syndrome than an appreciation of the Monsters behind the Monsters
@Alejandroigarabide3 жыл бұрын
Indeed. Val and Fritz are really annoying but Tylor never puts them on their place. In fact, he offends them by accident in the bowling episide and actually apologizes... why? They do suck at bowling!!!! They would have costed Mike a month of servitude and paperwork for Gary. If the series actually ends with Tylor rejecting being a jokester because he loves MIFT i'm going to be mad. You're right, it looks like Stockholme syndrome. Now if Tylor was a Lightning Mqueen type, a character full of himself who needs to learn humillity, that would work. He would be brought down a peg. Instead, he's already an hard-working humble underdog full of dreams who gets put in different annoying/unfair situations, and that's just not funny.

I think that Belos having a face that we get to see before the bound-to-happen-final-confrontation that's in every show ever really cements him as not just a menace, but an actual evil character. It shows his "humane" side, but you still know that this is the bad guy. It shows that there's actually something behind the mask, not just a faceless evil.
@randomtraveler41493 жыл бұрын
TL;DR - Showing his face with a smile and doing it casually makes us feel just as emotionally conflicted as Hunter. I think showing his face so casually (I mean this affectionately, as in they don't make too big a deal out of it) is a pretty good move. He turns and smiles at Hunter, and it sort of gives the audience the same conflict that Hunter has. By showing this genuine-looking smile and giving him some sense of humanity, it makes the audience feel conflicted on whether they still wholeheartedly believe he is a bad person. He's the bad guy, obviously, but is makes you wonder if he is going to get any kind of redemption or hope for him to be better. Given that he's emotionally abusing Hunter, and Hunter now has Luz and the Gang[TM] to run off to, he's probably feeling gaslighted into staying by Belos' side. Just an opinion tho

Hunter and Belos' "relationship" is a stark parallel to Eda and Luz. Eda and Luz started out really rocky, but now Luz might as well be a surrogate daughter to Eda. Eda puts Luz's wellbeing and happiness above all over things. They genuinely care about each other. Meanwhile Belos ABSOLUTELY mentally and nearly physically abuses Hunter, and is a manipulative ahole and just....it's great to see villains become more....REAL. Not just TAKE OVER THE WORLD but....real in the sense that people can manipulate you, they can abuse you not just physically but verbally and mentally as well and that is sometimes scarier than someone who just wants power for power's sake or wants to destroy the world...it's important to teach young people that so they can keep an eye out for the signs later in life. I really enjoyed season 1 of Bad Batch, but yes I admit they could have done a lot more. I liked it more than I did the first season of Clone Wars, and I think Omega offers a much different kinda vibe/value to Grogu. I love them both but for different reasons. I would've been disappointed if the show was revealed to be a one season story, but since season 2 was announced I've been so happy. Filoni does have a knack for developing underwhelming aspects of earlier seasons into something epic.
@Jessystarzz3 жыл бұрын
Same here! I didn't think that Omega was too similar to Grogu since she's more of an actual character with development and gets to grow to be a part of the group (no hate to Grogu I love him too). With a second season they hopefully get time to develop these characters more and really go in depth with them. Animated star wars shows usually tend to get better as they go along and I'd rather have a weaker start for a show than a weak ending. And the first season was already pretty good to me, but there's room for improvement for sure

It is so hot with the Clone wars character/set design.❤❤ The plot twist were Crosshair took out his chip a long time ago directly contradicts the part where the effect of the chip being increased. Plus I didn't like that Omeega was basically a mouth piece for the audience bc she knows so much about the chips for and says stuff like "it isn't your fault". Also, i don't like that she's a girl, bc they just had to. The owl house does something that BOTH kids and adults can enjoy, and here's my hot take on what I enjoy: The absolute dissection of magic through reasoning and logic to make leaps in technology, such as using runes, combining runes, or integrating said magic into technology like Emperor Belose's giant rebuilt door which seems to be fueled by palisman blood to activate it. This is what's known as Thamuel Magic: where Magic is dissected, studied, maintained and harnessed through technology that runs off of and relies on said magic: We also know of a dark liquid that cancels out magic as well from the episode "the other lie": it could be a liquid form of titans blood, or more likely an intangible liquid form of corrupted titans blood (Which would be useless to use as it would make the door Luse summoned probably even worse), the key quality of this liquid is it disintegrates magic that tries to activate. Thamuel Magic has always interested me because I work for a science division, and even then I'm astounded by what the show pulls off, every facet of it is dripping with magical logic and reason.

As a 16-year-old lesbian, Lumity has made me more excited than I can even begin explain. It is beyond euphoric to finally see good (actually, any) wlw representation in children's media. I honestly never even realized how important representation is for underrepresented groups until I realized who I was and felt alienated and isolated. I'm so glad people are finally overstepping the bs old "hush hush" nature of lgbtq+ relationships. I'm watching the Owl House with my first grade and third grade aged brother and sister and I can't wait for them to get to this part so it can organically and naturally open up the door to a conversation (if they want to have it). I want them to know that being lgbtq+ is normal and natural, but bringing it up out of nowhere feels almost disingenuous. I'm so glad to have this show that I could scream. I finally feel so represented, especially because of the fact that Amity and I both had purple hair when the season came out. I personally didn't like hooty in season 1, Mostly because he seemed like a character who didn't need to be there aside from literally being the owl house. Almost everything he did seemed like a "ha,ha so random" type of thing. He felt more like an obnoxious background element than an actual character. But now I really like him, he has goals, aspirations and a lot more depth was added to his personality. Honestly, I think me hating him in season 1 made his arc have an even bigger pay-off. Because a lot of the complaints I had about him were also the insecurities and problems he had to deal with.

I think Echo should have been the emotional core of the Bad Batch and have him relate to Omega since they are both new to the Batch and we should have gotten scenes of Crosshair missing his brothers.

I mean, we have gotten the last one once in the episode where Crosshair and his squad kill those civilians. When they return to the barracks, Crosshair looks around the room and at the carved wall

What I really like about Monster's At Work is that they're showing a period of time that got kinda skipped over in the movie. At the end of Monster's Inc there's a small time jump to that ending scene where we see a laugh floor filled up with jokesters, establishing the transition from scare power to laugh power. We needed this little time jump to give us the final scene where Sully sees Boo again but it also doesn't show us any of the struggle that would have come from trying to change the status quo so suddenly. In the first episode we see that many scarers are losing their jobs in this transition, and in a few different episodes they show us that it isn't exactly easy switching to a different power source. It's difficult finding people who want to work as jokesters and there are other power companies still using scare power to compete with Monster's Incorporated. Tylor Tuskman as a character is tied seamlessly into this conflict, since his livelihood was directly impacted by this change. So what we have here is Tylor is trying to balance his new job with his effort to move ahead in spite of the new friends he's making. It's a compelling conflict on paper and I'm hoping they'll flesh the idea out more in the future because they definitely aren't focusing on it as much as they could.

This!!! Thanks for making this elaborate comment it expresses what I think about the show exactly. Also I think it would be cool if they had more serious episodes later on and maybe even have Randall trying to come back from the human world as an antagonist

@Isaiah Stovall I mean the way that can be justified is the fact that they can't produce laugh energy cause they don't have very many funny monsters heck in one episode you see mike is practically carrying the company
@goobrious75053 жыл бұрын
@Isaiah Stovall Basically what Nevets said. As powerful as laugh energy is you have to take into account that until recently even Mike and Sulley believed human children were toxic, and many monsters likely still do. Thanks to the large spreading of fear/misinformation there's going to be plenty of skeptics, making it difficult for Monster's Inc to find many monsters that want to put their faith into laugh power this early on. They need to produce larger tangible results first. Basically, it's hard to do anything with it if you don't have enough monsters working to generate it in the first place.

@Isaiah Stovall They're showing that a power company's quota can change depending on environmental factors. In the one episode they're really not generating enough power it's also established there's a heatwave going on. What's not explicitly stated is that they need more power because the entire city is trying to run extra fans and AC units. In most other episodes they're just not meeting requirements because they're understaffed. They really just need to focus more on actual work situations instead of quirky shenanigans.

Controversial statement: I didn’t like Gus in owl house season 1. He was just loud and annoying, and even the detention episode didn’t change that for me. But after the looking glass ruins episode, I liked him way more. They made him an actual person, and toned down his fanboy energy a bit. Even so, I didn’t hate him in season 1. I just think he’s starting to feel like a much more essential part of the show. Also that witch puberty thing was brilliant

Honestly season works so extremely well because we care so much about these characters because we got to know them and their development and personality in season 1. Anyone who starts season 2 without watching season 1 first will probably like it a lot less. And even then season 1 was amazing in ways that are less obvious, like how Luz became my favourite character and immediately got stamped with ADHD by me in episode 2 (characters I like a lot will get headcanons from me that I feel fit but are still self projection, like I'm autistic but I knew for a fact Luz had ADHD AND I WAS RIGHT). Season 1 got us invested while having story treads that mattered more on a personal level then the bigger picture. This season just raises the emotions and stakes a bit more. Also this will sound dumb because some people say representation doesn't matter that much but it does a lot, especially different kinds of people are represented in one show. Lemme just grab a list of all the great representation this show has: -Luz for being bisexual and just being a good written (And even accurate) 14 year old with undiagnosed adhd (It was confirmed she has ADHD but I don't think it was ever said if it was diagnosed or not and since women don't get diagnosed as often I'm assuming it's not since she wasn't put in therapy to help her). The latter is very important because neurodivergency if it's in shows that don't focus on it follows stereotypes. Also Latina rep -Raine as non binary that isn't a shapeshifter, don't get me wrong shapeshifters are fun but when that's the only enby rep we get it stops being interesting if there's no other non shapeshifter enby characters -Eda as both a queer woman and with her curse that is portrayed as a chronic illness without the message that it needs a cure. I love the episode with Eda's mom because it shows just how annoying those kinds of people can be to deal with since most often a cure is unlikely to happen anytime soon for people with chronic illnesses. Anyone who says Eda's curse isn't a metaphor (honestly it's too direct to even count as one) for a chronic illness either doesn't have anyone to compare it too or don't want to see it that way. (I can and shall go on a rant why it's like a chronic illness if anyone is interested) -Principal bump is in this list because of how they threat him and how his palisman helps him see. Lovely addition to palisman lore and how they're more then just buddies that help you cast magic -Amity for being a lesbian and a bully who did their best to change after apologising and not immediately getting forgiven by willow -Willow's dads -Hunter has a disability since most witches can do magic with their vile sacks but he can't. -and Gus too (I also head canon him as autistic but I don't think if that'll be confirmed or not) Those are the ones one my top of my head, please tell me if I missed anyone. I love this show, it fills all the things I love and more and I could rant for hours but I'm going to keep it at this. I was sucked in by Eda and the horror sequel world, stayed for one of the best main characters ever, everyone's arcs and personality and of course still Eda the queen. Edit: I wanted to mention amity because during season 1 I thought she was really bland cause I've seen her kind of character way too much. I didnt mind her though since she was done with becoming better a lot faster then other characters like her. And then season 2 happened and now I like her, not my favourite but a good character for sure.

Honestly, I think that was one of the few episodes they really did right. They could totally replace filler episodes with episodes like that one that just focus on a character barely related to the bad batch and tell a story through that. It would function the same as a filler episode to space out the series, but still be interesting and not be just Cid missions. I'll admit, I'm slightly biased, though, because I've never seen rebels or the ryloth arc and didn't even know it was a cameo episode until after watching the whole thing.

No it fucking sucked ass and you could have cut it out and replaced it with another generic bounty exposition at the start of the next episode. Snapclapplepop I totally agree! As the season went on, I started to feel bored, and felt dissapointed that they weren’t focusing on other characters like the clone wars did They haven’t really added any depth or character development to the bad batch, and so, there’s nothing new or interesting about them to get us to continue watching. It gets more boring as the series goes on. That’s one of the advantages the clone wars had: it was an anthology show, and could always swap to focusing on something new to keep it interesting

15:45 Since, Disney has been pumping out live-action remakes of animated movies, I think it's only a matter of time before they flip it and do animated remakes of live-action movies. If Disney & Lucasfilm give the green light for Filoni to remake ROTS in Clone Wars animation, I would gladly spend a week straight watching it on a loop. Furthermore, they would have all the original scripts and screenplays which would probably include the rumored 4 hour cut of ROTS and 6 hour cut of Phantom Menace I would be so in if they actually do this.
