The Meticulous Gentleman - Just because Brando pioneered method acting doesn't meant he was the best at it, plus he had a very inconsistent career, and I daresay he has more band films than good films; I believe he is more influential than he was talented, at the end of the day. He was one of the greats, but not anymore by the 80's and 90's. Same deal with Al and Bob, who stopped being relevant in the 2000's and have done everything they can to tarnish their early careers. Daniel Day Lewis is one of the few actors where it's safe to say that every film he has done and every performance he has given has been incredible and timeless. He's also maintained cultural impact and relevance from the 80's up to the 2010's consistently. Robert De Niro is really the only one that's come closest, and you could argue he was better or just as good, but he isn't anymore.

It’s not “incredible” by any means...🙄 Only in the dear young Western World do we regard humility as rare & difficult to attain. No doubt that DDL is great actor. He is truly electrifying. But the prob with DDL is, he only does such movies and characters, characters which have scope. Can he truly make an inconsequential character great? A character who is not at the centre, who does not has scope as per the script and is inconsequential, can DDL still impress with his portray of that character the same way how he does in There will be blood, Lincoln or No country for old man? As per me, Gary Oldman is the best actor who can do any kind of role. DDL can do magic with a great character, Oldman can do magic with any character.

When reading a Lincoln speech we unconsciously adapt a booming deep voice yet writers in the 1800’s who heard Lincoln speak said he had a a high pitched shrill voice. When you think about it is his voice that attributed to him as real is the voice that works. For the mere commoner such as myself it allows one to hear his incredible dialogue yet allows it to be readily accessible to all.

Best. Actor. EVER, period. The man's acting is on an entirely different level, above everyone else. He loses all trace of himself, and completely disappears into his roles. With other actors, u can still see parts of them in their roles, as well as some similarities from character to character. They may walk the same, chew their food the same, yell the same, laugh the same, etc., but not Daniel Day-Lewis. I agree, I was annoyed by the parts where he was making a great statement and she interrupted him.

How often is that if you have Steven Spielberg in the same room and he is like an accessory , just sitting there. Such is the aura of Daniel day Lewis.

Daniel Day Lewis can play every accent possible. That's why he is a 3-time well deserved time Oscar Winner.

It's like DDL channeled from Lincoln's spirit in the otherworld, all his quirks, characteristics, ideals, powers & his voice, in such an amazingly uncanny fashion, with a mastery that was nothing less than magically spellbinding. Captivating. Transcendent. Totally & wonderfully par for DDL's course. He virtually resurrected that iconic, complex, ultra nationalistic, mid 19th Century NYC lunatic Bill The Butcher, in the process giving one of the greatest cinematic performances of all time, for the ages, & one as unforgettably chilling as it was downright entertaining (his portrayal of Gerry Conlon in The Name of The Father was equally powerhouse caliber, astonishing & praise worthy, one of the best & most riveting of the 1990s!). Every screen character brought to life by that peerless thespian is powerfully compelling, & often electrifying, in an indelibly searing manner. Always brilliant & super dedicated to his craft, DDL is truly one of a kind, a British National Treasure, & a shining Star brighter & more celestial than any in the modern day acting firmament. Just incredibly immersive & passionate, fiery & transformative, mesmerizing & chameleonic, & if not the all time acting Goat than he is close enough to being justified that designation (he'd probably have Lincoln's vote as the finest ever!). Daniel Day Lewis is also a humble class act, an all round real good person. God Bless Him!

He is the greatest actor of his generation. Here’s why: Nathanial, in The Last of the Mohicans, I would run off with in a heartbeat. Daniel Day Lewis, no. Not that he’s not attractive, he is. But Daniel becomes the character - you DON’T SEE DANIEL. How many actors can you really say that about? I see Meryl Streep and Diane Keaton in all their roles. I see DeNiro in all his roles. But Daniel disappears and you forget throughout the entire event that you are watching an actor. Amazing. There are many actors, Gary Sinise comes to mind, in the moment, who disappear. Anthony Hopkins. Frances McDormand. But wow, DDL is extraordinary.
