I also heard Lenovo uses thermal pads that become thermal paste, so for the first days it may get hotter (will eventually get colder). You will have to change this thermal paste for a long time in the future because of that. Overall, probably the best temperatures you ever gonna see on a budget laptop.
@OWNORDISOWN Жыл бұрын
That's what I thought too. Perhaps they started that with Intel 12th gen because it was regular paste on my 5800H Legion 7 kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKqodoCZispqldU

Did you notice if the GPU ever managed to get to the 140W power limit? I did not notice the gpu pull anything above 130W in the game play in your vid. I have the 2021 5800H/3060 model. I have tried flashing a 140W vbios but the unit still would not boost above 130 for me. so I ended up reverting to stock vbios. I was interesting that in valhalla you were getting same frame rate at 90W as you were at 130W. Not sure how that works unless the game has dynamic settings
@OWNORDISOWN2 жыл бұрын
For the most part it hovered 127 to 130w. In BF 2042 it did touch 146W but didn't last long. It did seem to perform the same as the 130W one that is OC by 100Mhz. When I do the live stream ill test out the OC options. Try and get extra performance.
@bradmorri2 жыл бұрын
@@OWNORDISOWN I didnt see any real difference running the 140W on my 2021. on the stock vbios the maximum totap system powe envelope seems to be about 155-156W. The GPU will start reducing down from 130W after the 5800H CPU his hitting 25-26W in timespy for example. The 140W bios behaved the same and never went above 130. It look that the gpu was hitting a bios set limit rather that the nvidia vbios limit that I have not yet worked out if it can be tweaked. In my opinion, lenovo should be setting power limits the same as they did with the 3070 models last year. I think they have left them the same as the 2021 3060 models

The 7i is going to have the 12900HX and will be a beast. I realise why there has been such a delay, cause there is no way Lenovo will release their flagship with the most powerful laptop CPU unless they have ironed out the cooling. I am still amazed that with my 2021 Legion 7i, and for some reason unlocked 11800H (not an unlocked processor normally), I can push it to further than stock 11980HK speeds.. 4.6 on all cores doing Cinebench R23 and temps not over 92 (on a cooling pad though). Passes latencymon with flying colours too. I haven't even tried undervolting it as it has never thermal throttled. It is getting me markedly better performance than a 9900K desktop processor at 5GHZ, and that's impressive from a laptop processor at 4.6ghz. I have just made all cores 4.6 rather than have any fluctuation, and disabled speed step with throttlestop. On the other hand my razer is a dog, leaving 28% performance on the table with the same processor compared to the Lenovo. The Razer was also unlocked for the last 6 months, yet after a reboot yesterday the processor is completely locked, all my undervolting and multipliers disabled. No one will answer me at the support forums, and I wonder if they snuck in a microcode update through synapse. In any case, it's now even noisier and hotter than ever. I friggin hate it. I'm going to sell it and make the 7i my travel laptop and general usage and get something new for my main audio workstation/heavy gaming. Yeah a bit OT but I got excited when I saw a Lenovo review LOL - Hopefully the 7i is not far behind. even the 5i is a nice laptop though, for sure!

I would be inclined to go with the i7. It is faster than the 5800H. The AMD system would need to have its RAM changed to 1Rx8 because they used to ship with slower 1Rx16. Intel systems seem less affected by this.

@@amritanshu7279 I tend to use the CPU when i am rendering my videos as the GPU acceleration seems to create artifacts. A faster CPU saves me a lot of time and is worthwhile to me. Thank you intel for disabling undervolting. I am sure its a useless feature to lower temps on laptops, which could really use it. Steven, is there any reason why intel and AMD don't allow undervolting anymore? Do they just want your laptop to overheat? I'd imagine its a useful feature to have for a laptop. Their desktops allow it.
