I love the Sonnox 'Enhance' package -- I use them regularly, and wish that Fab demonstrated just how brilliant this limiter is with heavy/hard transients at speed and volume (dance, modern rock, etc). That's where it shines most! No "splat" from snares or phase issues/unfocused middle and graininess like the Waves L-series crap introduces!

Simple subtraction on the output fader and 'bypass' get you there easily - he showed that in the video.

ok, for posterity... His definition of dynamic range is wrong and is actually peak to average ratio. His level matched comparison was NOT level matched (one dB will fool you). And the Metallica album was *mixed* that way (clipped).

and might i add...i think MANY more engineers need to watch this video. You have a very good attitude about this situation. as musicians WE NEED IT LOUD! cause we have to compete...and most stupid listeners don't have a decent stereo. These days there has to be separate masters.

I've been using Zenner limiter for a while. Would it be better for me to use the Oxford limiter as far as getting the best dynamic range?

Are you French by any chance? I don't know what it is but it instantly makes your English sound much more awesome. To those who are saying "why deal with it and not fight it"... Because millions well billions of idiots want shit LOUD and not DYNAMIC. If they hear track that is simply not as aloud as shit they listen they bash on it like it's bad and shit. I've experienced that... I'm mixing album of my own band (yeah... If we had 3 to 5 k euros we would honestly pay a good producer but unfortunately we don't have that much money :/) and when i set it dynamically my friends are like "dude it's not as loud as slayer or 'tallica or exodus crank that shit up it sucks"... Now i have to think and work my way how to make shit loud and not lose integrity as much... Since i just can't crank up to 0 the master because it will be way too hot and will clip and distort.

The average person doesn't care about dynamics. They care about loudness and bass. Also you can make a clean mix, and master loud, and still make it sound clean. That's what people care about.

YouNolf well actually it does once the volume is brought up. When brought down at the same lvl of volume you can see the difference between the one that's been limited and the one that has full dynamic range. In this part you can't notice it which is gut.

A better way. Record your voice; Normalize all the recorded voice parts the closest possible to each other. Once done that use very little compression, because you will need less of it. The result will be a much more clear and even recording, without all the awkward sounds and noises that come with to much compression. After that using the normalizing feature in your daw, reduces the sssss sounds, but not excessively, because it will not sound well. Once you achieve what you want, if there are any weird sounds such as, clicks and pops, use the Adobe Audition program to clean them. Bualaaa, the recording will sound better than using the supressser. This process will take long, but the results are more natural and better. This people that promote these products just work for these plugins companies and receive commissions probably for doing so. I tried the suppresser, and didn't like it. Don't use to much reverb; just a litte, because that will create weird sounds. EQ the voice taking out instead of adding. If you add up EQ, make sure it doesn't give you weird sounds. To much EQ will definitely create noise.

Recording voice is not an easy task, but doing what I wrote before really works, much better, and you don't have to buy all the shit that is sold online. For really good bass sounds, check spectrassonics TRILLIAN
