@Chait Singh @worldgonemad the big bang theory totally goes against scientific law. Cause and effect. You can't see air, but know it's there. Someone else can't hear your thoughts, but you know they're there.wifi signals are invisible, but if you turn off your router Internet disappears. Your finger prints are unlike any other person on Earth. You'd be totally arrogant to think you could understand the universe with a human mind. You know your soul exists because it differs from others. The evidence you shout is the same as every other athiest. The Bible is the most historically accurate book, or document of all time. More than any other book ever. You can even Google that. Also I bet there's been a time in your life when you've felt desperate that you've said please God. The book has remained accurate through all plauges, the Holocaust, and every other mass genocide. Look at all the near death experiences. A lot of them who are doctors, scientist, and many other science believing athiest, who died go to hell, and find Jesus. Some instances they're dead for hours, or days. They had nothing to gain from these things, actually they could only lose from them. Some have lost marriage that was over 20 years. Quit high paying pristigious careers. You're very foolish and close minded to think this is it. Miracles happen everyday science can't explain. It is your job to look with an open mind for your self. If you open the Bible and read you can literally feel the holy spirit. Also it makes total sense the government puts flouride in our water. The Bible talks about our pinial glad being our way to Jesus. Flouride in the water literally attacks our spirit molecule. This makes total sense to me that the devil is very near, and if he could would banish the Bible for ever. Many countries have banned the Bible. In China they're tearing down Christian churches as we speak. Stop listening to the science put out by your lobbyist governments. Did you know that 70% of what independent studies show doffer from government funded ones. You sir can trust in The FDA who puts cancerous things like red 40, and yellow 5 in everything. Did you know that the FDA gets over 70% of it's GDP from big pharma? So they allow these things to poison you, and then give you vaccines with all kinds of harmful materials in them. Right now 5G is killing all kinds of birds, and bees. Monsanto is currently working on creating a genetically modified bee that only will pollinate there gmo foods. Also 70% of independent studies show 5G frequencies manipulate your thyroid into allowing harmful toxins to pass the blood brain barrier. This is no work of man alone. This has been a plan since the beginning of time. Do me a favor and look up what agenda 21 is. Then also cross reference it with the most historically accurate book of all time. The Bible. 100 years ago most people were God fearing Christian's. Did you also know that in the 1980s over 60 different companies owned the rights to media, and today it's just 6 families that put out the news. Go do some research of the FCC, and how the leader of it is chairman Ajit Pai, an ex Verizon wireless telecommunication attorney. Obama said there would be no lobbyist in his administration, and he was the first person elected into the FCC. You watch as agenda 21, and the rest of the events of the rapture become true. What's funny is last year I said the same things you're saying right here. Then I watched a documentary on KZbin called frankenskies proved to me the devil is very real, and everything I ever thought to be true was a lie. I hope you find jesus, because he's very real, and if you allow him to come into your heart he will forgive you, just as he had mine. I know it, because I can feel it, and now I'm doing these things to help people like you. I have nothing to gain from this, and feel much ridicule, but it's worth it, because I know for a fact it exists.

Logical thinking clearly shows that no evidence exists for any god. 3. Morality is a social construct, all different from society to society --- no god involved. 4. The meaning of life is determined by each individual for him/herself --- no god is needed. 5. Justice is a relative term: No evidence exists for life after death or for any Jesus.

This wasn't the strongest speech I've seen Lennox (or anybody) give for why God exists. But there is a great subtlety to what Lennox was doing that most commentators here seem to have missed. They complain that he did not provide any scientific or mathematical evidence, completely missing that Lennox has end-run around that by arguing that 1) the existence of God is the only reason that the universe is rationally intelligible, and 2) God is a personal being and therefore we encounter Him most profoundly not through rational argument but through personal relationship. Lennox wasn't attempting to provide scientific evidence for God. He was challenging the epistemological assumptions of materialistic atheism. He said it right at the end: these are my reasons for why God should be trusted. Not merely that God exists, but why God is trustworthy to be in relationship with.

If god were to choose our circumstances we would be void of the sun collapsing, dark matter entitling our whole universe, and we would experience heaven as we know it. So I believe that god is an entity to all beings in the cosmos and is not judged by a single gender since he is the entity. Other aliens might have beliefs like this too, but it is a manifestation of god. I agree on you with all points. But it is mostly the atheist who put down theist by saying that we're dumb. Or getting arrogant thinkging of themselves that they are to intelligent to believe in a God. And me, as a believer, i see that they have a standpoint which offends God. I know that their chance of getting into heaven shrinks if they continue to live their ignorant lifes... so i often try to open their eyes. But they never understand, they say "i don't believe in fairytailes" offending God even more, putting God down as a fairytaile, as a joke. But still i never lose my patience, because anger is a tool of ghe devil and not in God's favor. I think we the believers must hold together, no matter if jew, christian or muslim. In the end those are all abrahamic religions who all praise the same God, they only refer to different books, which all came from God in different times to bring us down to the right path everytime faith faded away.

Atheism inevitably leads to nihilism, which is an unpleasant worldview, and this is why they resort to the attacks. Even though they don't believe, I suspect that deep down, having no eternal truth and no connecting to a greater mystical body is unsettling.They can't or won't believe using logic, so the gut reaction is to lash out. Christianity began as sun worship, the stories about Jesus are symbolic. He is just a personification of the sun, made into a god figure later on. The sun "dies" for 3 days on December 22nd, the winter solstice, when it stops its movement south, to be born again or resurrected on December 25th, when it resumes its movement north. In some areas, the calendar originally began in the constellation of Virgo, and the sun would therefore be "born of a Virgin" The sun rising in the morning is "the saviour of mankind" The sun is "The light of the World" The sun "walks on water" is just the reflection of the sun on water/the sea. "He cometh on clouds, and every eye shall see him", is just sun rays. Jesus' "crown of thorns" is just the sun's glare, also know as a halo. The sun's "followers", "helpers" or "disciples" are the 12 months and the 12 signs of the zodiac or constellations, through which the sun must pass. The sun at 12 noon is in the house or temple of the "Most High": thus.."he" begins "his Father's work" at "age" 12. The sun enters into each sign of the zodiac at 30 degrees, hense, the "Sun of God" begins his ministry at "age" 30. The sun is hung on a cross or "crucified", which represents its passing through the equinoxes. The vernal equinox being Easter, at which time it is then resurrected. The reason why saviour myths are so similar with a godman who is crucified and resurrected, who does miracles and has 12 disciples, is that these stories were based on the movements of the sun through the heavens, an astrotheological development that can be found throughout the planet, because the sun and the 12 zodiac signs can be observed around the globe. In other words, Jesus Christ and all the others upon whom this character is predicated are personifications of the sun, and the Gospel fable is merely a rehash of a mythological formula revolving around the movements of the sun through the heavens. ..
@SStupendous2 жыл бұрын
@@Gamefan86 Yeah no. 25th of December was the date of a Roman holliday, and when Christianity became a staple, they simply used the same holliday, changing the celebration to the Birth of Christ. Highly doubt from an outsider's observing perspective that Jesus's followers in the 1st Century C.E. were really worshipping the Sun and turned him into a man only later on. Half of those lines require a lot of biased approval of your ideas to believe them. May as well say that about a lot of the other world religions too.

"The sun rising in the morning is "the saviour of mankind"".... convincing line? "The sun is "The light of the World" The sun "walks on water" is just the reflection of the sun on water/the sea. "He cometh on clouds, and every eye shall see him", is just sun rays. Jesus' "crown of thorns" is just the sun's glare, also know as a halo." ^All this aren't too believable by anyone else, and seem to be put there just to add extra lines. Crown of thorns is the Halo..... huh? "The sun is hung on a cross or "crucified", which represents its passing through the equinoxes." The funny bit about this is that real crucifixion in the 1st Century wouldn't have been on a cross as we think of it; which debunks this whole idea. If you go back in time, and actually saw Jesus's execution or that of anyone else in that century, it wouldn't have been on a cross. This is veriable, you can find evidence for what I've said. Over half of this requires the person reading to have little knowledge of history or take the specific things mentioned at face value.

@@Gamefan86 You deceive yourself. Yes, 12 is symbolic all through the bible. 12 tribes, 12 stones 12 disciples, oh and there is 12 notes in music. The symbol 12 came from God , not man. The sun was created by God actually Jesus. 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning-the first day. John 1:1-5 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. The word is another term for Jesus. You can make those correlations but that its more because of Jesus being real and they are a refection of him, not the other way around. Truth is If you look at the sun you can destroy your eyes. If you look to Jesus your eyes (mind) are opened. Anything that gets too close to the sun is destroyed whereas with Jesus you will have eternal life.. Actually Christianity is branched out from the Jewish faith. Jesus was of Jewish faith, He referred himself as the vine and hid followers the branches Most religions even acknowledge his existence. Jesus had lived, not is symbolic. God of the Jews is the God of the Christians. The Messiah is prophesied in the Old Testament/ Torah, written way before Jesus day. He fulfilled them all. The Jews will dispute that. Why would they dispute about a man being the long awaited Messiah if did not exist? No one has disputed his existence. The Jews could. It would be to there benefit of their faith. Falsify: Religion is a funny thing. I'm on here, as an atheist, in an attempt to better understand theism. How many theists attempt to educate themselves on a different position to that of 'God made everything?' The trouble with religion is that it cannot falsify itself. There's nothing to work with. If we found a black polar bear, the statement, "all polar bears are white" would be falsified. This is the very basic nature of science. Always looking to prove itself wrong. When you can no longer prove anything to be wrong in a particular field, you've got a good chance, not a definite certainty, that you're correct. All religion cannot do this. It's impossible. Omniscient and free will: Please can someone help me with my faith? I'm struggling. If God is omniscient, eternal and omnipresent, how could he have free will too? As in, if he knows exactly what will happen at any point in time, then how can he have free will to make any choice? I'm not God therefore I might have beef for my dinner, but I could change my mind. If all events are laid out already and God knows what they are before they happen, how can he have any choice in the matter?

maybe your friend just "fasted' too much and THAT was contributing to his physical condition. If he said he was dying, I sort of have to take his word for it, but frankly ALL OF US are dying. It's just really a question of "HOW SOON" and by what means. My dad and my brother died that way. Neither one became christians over it. they just did the best they could to face their fate. My dad was not religious but self-identified as vaguely-"protestant" when pressed to say. My brother was a fairly devout buddhist.

I am facing several life-threatening conditions, facing two operations in upcoming months and I do not beieve in God and haven't believed in Jesus since I was 17 or God since I was 23. (I'm almost 62.) If your friend proves God, how do those who lose faith or continue to disbelieve on their very deathbed not disprove him. My point is your anedoctal "evidence" is evidence of nothing.

@@lovelycreation_ I don't believe you actually read what Epicurus wrote. Please do it now, and take 5 minutes or so to ponder its implications. If you truly comprehend his questions, you should be sweating. If you aren't, then you don't. You believe God is ABLE to abolish evil, and you believe he is WILLING to do so. So you believe evil exists in the world because God has decided to leave it here. So when a seven year old girl is snatched from the street, tortured, raped, sodomized for 3 days before being strangled, it is only because God wanted it that way. It's the only possible interpretation of your conclusion. It's reasoning like this that confirms my certainty that there cannot be a deity with any meaningful degree of control. When Epicurus wrote this 2500 years ago, he was asking only about God's ABILITY to do something, and his WILLINGNESS to do it. Whether his willingness or lack thereof was truly his choice or merely reflexive was not at issue. Is God willing to do this thing? Yes or no. Perhaps his apparent willingness is illusory; maybe not. No problem. Just answer the question. Is he willing, or not? Even if we have no free will, we certainly feel as though we do. There's no way to tell the difference.

*So let us examine what science can tell us about the origins of life* We know from experiments in the fields of Astronomy, Chemistry, Geology and Meteorology that the early pre-biotic earth was filled with organic molecules, the building blocks of life. We also know that organic molecules are very common in space. We also know that early life has been extremely simple…meaning no complex protein machinery in place. Modern cells separate themselves from the environment with a lipid bilayer. The problem with modern phospholipids is that they are too good at what they do. They form a nearly impenetrable barrier. Modern cells must use proteins to move molecules across their surface. But life did not have to start with modern chemicals! The pre-biotic environment contain many simple fatty acids. Under the range of pH they spontaneously form stable vesicles and they are permeable to small organic molecules (no complex proteins are required to get stuff in). When a vesicle encounters free fatty acids in solution, it will incorporate them (eating and growth are driven purely by thermodynamics). When a vesicle grows, it adopts a tubular branched shape (because the surface are grows faster than volume), which is easily divided by natural forces (waves, currents, rocks, etc.). When this division takes place, none of the contents of the vesicle are lost. *So what about the genetic material?* Modern nucleotides are too stable and require complex machinery to replicate. But the pre-biotic environment contained hundreds of different types of nucleotides, not just DNA and RNA. All it took is 1 to self polymerize (recent experiments have shown that some of these are capable of self polymerization, such as Phosphoramidate DNA). Monomers will base pair with a single stranded template and self ligate. They can also polymerize in solution and spontaneously form new templates, or extend existing templates. *No special sequences are required, it is just chemistry! But how does this become life?* Fatty acids are permeable to nucleotide monomers but not polymers. Once spontaneous polymerization occurs within the vesicle, the polymer is trapped. Floating through the ocean the polymer containing vesicles will encounter convection currents, such as set up by hydrothermal vents. The high temperatures will separate the polymer strands and increase the membrane’s permeability to monomers. Once the temperature cools, spontaneous polymerization can occur (and the cycle repeats). The polymer, due to surrounding ions, will increase the osmotic pressure within the vesicle, stretching its membrane. A vesicle with more polymer through simple thermodynamics will “steal” lipids from a vesicle with less polymer. They essentially, “eat” each other. The vesicle that contains a polymer that can replicate faster, will grow and divide faster, and will eventually dominate the population, and now EVOLUTION can begin.

@chrisdeep84172 жыл бұрын
Very true, debate is the basis for rational questioning and it is only through honest rational questioning that we will re-discover the truth about God. But what about the definition of truth itself? What is it that causes us to claim something is true and another untrue. Is it just through scientific experiment? In this case we must make the inherent assumption that science explains everything and this we know very plainly to be untrue. On top of this we have things like Gödel's incompleteness theorem and so this line of reasoning breaks down very quickly. So what is truth? What if we tried another definition: "Truth is and only is everything that promotes life". This now perfectly overcomes the incompleteness problem in science as scientific thinking itself is now a subset of truth. This inherently means that science must breed greater science (i.e. have a 'life' of its own) so it already assumes that scientific knowledge will always in some sense be incomplete which is an assumption validated by our knowledge of science. The greater power in this definition of 'truth' however, is that it is now not only limited to just scientific thinking. It can also be applied to justice and love. We claim justice is 'true' when it serves the purpose of promoting life, freedom of thinking and dis-allows all things contrary to this. This inherently once again (as with the scientific case) promotes greater and greater levels of justice. Now coming to the subject of 'love'. {It is a bit unfortunate that the English language only offers this single word 'love' to describe what is a much more complicated and multifaceted concept which is sometimes reduced by many to mean just the conjugal love between man and wife. The Greek on the other hand offers 5 different words to more fully describe love in its many forms and it is the encompassment of all these (particularly that of agape) which is referenced here.} Anyone who demands a 'scientific explanation' for truth, very quickly reaches a stumbling block when it comes to love. They try to explain it away in terms of synapses and other biological detail but these also fail when you consider the problem that human emotions can generate these biological responses just as much as the inner workings of the body can be responsible for the emotions in the first place. And so they are unable to clearly identify the chicken from the egg. However our assumed definition of truth also very nicely fits into 'love'. So much that the concept of 'love' itself is the foundation for the formation of the concept of 'truth'. Human life grows with 'love' and dies without. So if God is truth and truth is love then God Himself must be 'love' in its greatest form. So now we have a clearer path for discovering God but let's look back at history for a minute. All the teachings of Judaism, all the laws all the rituals and Christ Himself and the Christian teaching he left us with. Everything comes down to a single truth and this is the promotion and preservation 'love' in all its many forms. However if love is the basis for truth, then it must mean that the source of 'love' must be in line with our very concept of 'truth'. Hence Prof. Lennox's entire talk, all his past and future talks can be summarised in the one phrase: "God Is Love".
@chrisdeep84172 жыл бұрын
@@ericbell940 you will be waiting a very long time indeed. Searching for the truth of God with a closed heart is like trying to stay above the water with your body curled up into a ball and head tucked in. This reminds me of a talk I once heard from Stephen Fry (atheist). He said that him, along with other members of his atheist community meet every Sunday and instead of going to church, they have their own meeting where they discuss science. I'm sure they would come out of it more knowledgeable than they went in but still without any understanding of concepts like compassion, wisdom and chastity. This is a perfect depiction of atheist thinking (all mind and no heart). The illusion of control is dominant (the very thing that Christian theology links to the devil's pride). Then on the other end of the spectrum you have the religious fanatics who sing songs to what they believe as God but with no real sense or understanding of the true God. They reject all scientific truth and prefer to follow their feelings in everything that they do (an example of all heart no mind). It is said that the most difficult thing for a man to achieve is not the climbing of the tallest mountain, not supersonic flight or developing the fastest land vehicle ... But rather to go from his head to his heart. If you honestly seek the truth about God then the best place to search is to start to discover the space between your mind and your heart. You know you're on the right track when this link starts to grow stronger for is not just that "God is love" it is that "all true love is in God".

@gerardlewis209 Жыл бұрын
Embarrassingly poor arguments. Fallacy 1: You should believe because smart people like Newton did. Rebuttal: This is an appeal to authority, a classic logical fallacy. We should only believe based on evidence and logic. Fallacy 2: The universe can't create itself. Rebuttal: Neither can an assumed supernatural creator. One way or another we have to posit something existing ex nihilo, and Occam's razor dictates we do not multiply entities unnecessarily. On a materialist view, there is no "nothing" out of which "something" sprang at a given moment, because this would assume a pre-existing temporal framework: if, however, time itself is circular, then a universe with temporal "poles" would nevertheless contain all of time, and would therefore be in that sense eternal. Fallacy 3: Laws need a lawgiver. Rebuttal: this is transparent equivocation between two meanings of the word "law". Consult any dictionary. Poor analogy 1: Henry Ford. Since no one claims he invented the motor car, it's a bit silly to suggest we need him as an explanation for how it came into being. Perhaps Daimler and Benz were intended? Fallacy 4: Fine tuning. This is at bottom a silly and circular argument. "Our existence depends on certain variables having certain values, therefore those values must have been configured to favour our existence" is like saying "My saving petrol in 2020 depended on the COVID lockdown, therefore COVID must have been deliberately brought about in order to enable me to save petrol". Fallacy 5: Without the supposition of God there's no reason to expect the universe to be intelligible to us. Rebuttal: on the contrary, the Darwinian struggle for survival ensures that creatures unable to model physical processes cognitively would perish, hence the survivors would be those who were able to do so. Evolution esp. of a tool-using species naturally favours reason, i.e. the ability to grasp and model and predict immediate physical reality. What is evident is that our reason is ill suited to model subatomic reality, which is why a lot of quantum theory appears paradoxical. You'd think if a God bothered to equip us to understand the world, he'd equip us to understand it at every level, not just the level of immediate practical interaction with objects and people, which nevertheless seems to be what we have. Fallacy 6: Without God we would have no morality. Rebuttal: Morality of some sort is expected in a gregarious species, since its survival would depend on people internalising rules of social interaction. What does seem obvious is that the moral codes provided by most if not all religions are arbitrary and, in a contemporary societal arrangement, unworkable. You'd think an omniscient God would have foreseen that. Fallacy 7: "If Jesus rose from the dead, death is not the end and atheism is false". This is utterly illogical. Atheism is not predicated on death being the end. Buddhists, e.g. are atheists (they do not believe in a God) yet believe in reincarnation. Fallacy 8: Atheism fails to provide "ultimate hope" (of justice, or whatever). This is a childish appeal to wishful thinking. Reality has no obligation to satisfy our emotional needs. Most people learn this before age 7.
