Those students do NOT believe in equality - they believe in equity, which is a completely different thing - it's a marxist idea and they probably don't even know that - they probably wouldn't understand it or the ramifications of such an ideology if it slapped them in their faces.

Exactly brilliant comeback to point out their hypocrisy. They complain about black underrepresentation but would they give up THEIR seats to a black person? They believe in socialism, would they share THEIR grade marks with lower-achieving students? They virtue signal to feel better about themselves so they don't have to give up any of THEIR advantages, which thanks to affirmative action, are getting lesser and lesser.

And despite their protestations, they're going to have employees, servants, cleaning people, cooks, janitors who do the jobs they don't want to do, and if everyone were "equal" there would be no people to do them. +ja goku "Inequality and freedom of positive descrimination are not and was not the same debate here" ... " ... why should we use positive descrimination in politics to write legislature to outlaw inequality...". In your own words you acknowledge that positive discrimination is linked in worldview to positive discrimination This complaint seems to unjustififed. "not staying on topic while insulting the crowd unproffessionally is how come their debate team lost" ... "why stack her on the team to make the opposition lose is what I contest too here". I think you misjudge Katie Hopkins' wider intentions, who made the more lasting impact of all the debaters?
@jagoku7386
@jagoku7386 8 жыл бұрын
"In your own words you acknowledge that positive discrimination is linked in worldview to positive discrimination" I guess you ment inequality instead of positive descrimination. I think the complaint speaks for itself because I thought her approach against the proposal was at the wrong angle. Instead of treating the crowd like childeren and repeating the same sentence 11 times while touching a random student, instead of listening to him after insulting the way he is dressed ruined their chances of winning. Her intentions which will prove my complaint justified, are stupid because we all know inequality is a fantastic thing brought upon through positive descrimination. Imagine if open positive descrimination against the church was outlawed until now and not practiced, the inquisition and salem witch trials would still be going on today, such as the world thinking the earth is flat etc. No one likes hearing their grimm for not donating their money to the poor after they graduate college in any context however thoughts about science and arts being suppressed still unless positive descrimination was done by hystorical figures would have been a much greater point that wouldn't have killed their chance of winning the debate. I think she is too dykie yes. I watched them all but hers first, and all of them had just bad reasoning in my opinion however the opposition had the worst reasoning due to why they lost. Seems like the first girl proposal was a social justice warrior so I hate that crap. and I watched alot of these debates at one time but I can't pinpoint the others just seemed like all 6 were morally wrong on the grounds of Gospel sense, "God is Just, not negative or positive". I don't wanna hear saying blacks don't have the same chance to get into college on proposal side and thats why we should be able to positive descriminate against them and I also don't wanna hear about inequality because of that same reason. inequality with actual examples but the proposal struck gold in this middle class sympothisers. AKA they could not take the heat from Katie Hopkins. I agree with her statements, however I do not like her as a person, but her idea was great one on one. She was trying to get a room to agree with her and I felt she was an idiot with the way she approached that. I do not beleive law makers should be the ones positively descriminating like the opposition, i beleive the people should have a right too

Oxford really did a bad job here at representing themselves. Slight lost of respect. They lost sight of what the argument was and really didnt let the speaker speak. She made a really good point when she said that no one in that room wanted to be equal, they all want to be better. That was a very true statement. But instead of people having a objective and productive exchange of ideas and conversation, they just took jabs at the speaker because they didnt agree. Oxford embarassed themselves here IMO

Just Me Let me get this straight - Your saying that Liberals have been going against nature and its ruined the planet/civilisation? Have you not considered that going against nature/conquering it is why your sat now in front of a computer instead of a cave scratching on a piece of slate. By your reckoning, man shouldnt fly because he was not born with wings. Also we have reached a point where we can change nature through DNA. Maybe someday soon you will be able to grow a pair of wings through genetic modification. As for "survival of the dumbest"????? can you explain what you mean by "dumb" because its a very subjective concept, IE: Hopkins hero Trump could be considered "dumb". You need to expand and be more precise with your argument.

@@wordscontrolminds well said,the way she equated low IQ with the Question about black Americans receiving healthcare was shockingly! I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that,or how she inferred that those less able physically or intellectually should "be allowed to fail"...you know sounds very much like the ideas that directly led to people deemed to be of less intelligence,or of being a burden, becoming victims of so called "euthanasia" from the Nazis...(yes I'm sorry to mention Nazis, but I think it's important to point this out,these ideas are dangerous,our history shows us that),and yes those ideas would have taken Stephen Hawking and his amazing scientific mind from the world,and so many others. Having said all that, I'll now say this...debate is good, don't stop people from debating,it shines a light on the roots of their ideas and gives a chance to openly debate,where society can then as a collective but democratically decide on something,if we take away debate and hearing views we disagree with we take that away....so debate and free speech is vital.

I used to buy into the media propaganda and hated Katie Hopkins too, but after hearing her speak, my mind has changed - though not totally. I still think she's unpleasantly brutal and unrestrained, but I see her as a backlash against an increasingly toxic society, and she's violently trying to grab the wheel from a weak, incompetent driver in the form of political correctness that's gonna crash spectacularly. She does come across as intelligent and charismatic despite this however, and I suspect that the nastier elements of her personality are a reaction to what she sees around her, and a necessary evil in changing it for the better, rather than who she is at her core. ...either that or I'm completely wrong and she really IS a female Vlad the Impaler, a dark, vicious individual that is sadly needed today to fight a greater evil, much as the man himself did with the Ottoman Empire.

How she goes about saying what she does is why I don't really like her. Letting the sick just die or giving up on those with learning difficulties etc is not a good thing, people with advantages should help those less fortunate because that's how the world is made to be a better place - supporting your fellow man in the aim of a better future. Growing up through high school I used to be an ideologue calling for the socialist utopia but as I get older Katie Hopkins' core argument here holds true - The more money I EARN the more I want to ensure it remains mine and the more I believe in meritocracy. I come from Elgin, a predominantly working-class town in the north-east of Scotland. I could have went to university but decided to go down the apprenticeship route. I am now working within the whiskey industry and through listening to people like Katie, Jordan Peterson and Ben Shapiro I am the most motivated I have ever been. Complete U-turn from my ultra leftist teenage years and I'm glad the change was made, things make more sense when you come to terms with the unfairness of life. Nobody necessarily wishes to perpetuate unfair and deliberate inequality but the acknowledgement of its reality is ultimately what brings the best out in people, not all the time, but a good portion of the time and I sure as hell want to be part of it. Don't agree with every one of Katie's opinions but a point was well made here and I appreciate the no-holds-barred approach to speaking.

In Australia in 1854, a miners' protest about the licence fee and their political rights resulted in a rebellion in which both soldiers and miners died. Following the rebellion, a number of the miners' demands were met, including their right to vote. Men had to fight and die for their right to vote as much as women had to. During the 1880s, the women's suffragette movement gained momentum. This movement was based on the belief that democracy, in its truest form, could not be achieved until women had the same electoral rights as men. In 1894, the South Australian Parliament agreed and the remaining colonies gradually came to the same view. Leading by example, Australia helped to pioneer the recognition of women's suffrage internationally. In 1924, to improve the low rates of voter turnout, amendments to the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918 were made. Compulsory voting was introduced and this resulted in a dramatic increase in voter turnout at the following election. Isn't it interesting that once given the right, that they needed compulsory voting to get people to be involved? So much for equality.

J-Dog Robert there is too much inequality though and too much non meritocratic inequality which is not fair at all and I'm not sure if society is functioning very well with it. It's very inefficient in fact when most big companies can get away with what they want such as not paying taxes or destroying the environment. Furthermore, it is damaging to you for example Mac Donalds burgers being purposefully engineered to be addictive but being extremely unhealthy as a consequence. Society would be far better without the degree of inequality we have

Steph and don't put yourself down like that! I'm sure you could've done well if you had done more work or something or if you enjoyed it; not because you're stupid or something. There is very little correlation between achievement and intelligence, people with low iq are known to get A*s and stuff. It's not like I'm saying this because I did badly in school, I did pretty well and still am improving but it doesn't make me intelligent. And it's kinda bullshit that I have to pay over 9k a year to study maths. The system is clearly rigged for the richest to go to the top and the poorest to go to the bottom regardless of intelligence.

She likes to use self deprecation which makes it difficult for people to insult her and she is not easily offended unlike the lefty's who cant fathom the idea of someone disagreeing with them. Overall I think she is morally incorrect here, life is a special thing, it shouldn't be about having an 'elite society' and weeding out the weak, it should be about making the most out of the time you have and helping your fellow man.

If 25% of the population produce children who will enter Universities and will prosper and reach the highest standards in the Ivy League Universities then they are our industrialists, scientists, surgical consultants, judges and hopefully our future ministers of state. The present barmy trend of aiming at 50% of all children getting a university education by lowering entry qualifications and allowing them to take Mickey Mouse courses like Media Studies, Golf Course Management and a whole lot of other daft subjects, is irresponsible and totally irrelevant to the economy. Apprenticeships in the craft industries would be the best option for most school leavers and would provide us with a home produced skilled workforce instead of us having to import craftsmen from abroad to fill the skills shortage. There will always be an elite layer in the population and there will always be those who cannot achieve their standard of education, creativity and entreprenurial and management skills. Inequality has always existed and always will. That is how societies work efficiently. Look at bee or ant colonies as just two of thousands of lower animal societies. They have an heirarchy and they are extremely efficient. make universitiy education available for the elite who are capable of benefiting from it. The average people should follow a trade. The educationally challenged few who are left can do the labouring jobs or enter the service industry
