1:02 I like how she added that this manufacturer, and others like it, have found that conical cone shape grounds bed is better for small batches of brewed coffee, rather than flat bed eletric brewers. Nice tip- thanks 😊

I've been using both the Oxo burr grinder and coffee maker for the past two years and love them. I usually only make two cups of coffee which means that it doesn't stay hot in the carafe if I don't drink it immediately, but I just warm it in the microwave. The burr grinder is a BIG improvement over the smaller blade coffee grinders I used to use.

I like that you show the whole process of making coffee with the machine - not just showing features. It exposes drippage, etc. Other reviews have said that the basket mechanism does often drip. I was wondering if it might be smarter to let the finished brew sit a minute when done and empty the basket before removing the carafe to avoid the problem completely. A coffee friend told me it's not a bad idea to do this for taste reasons as well - Also - isn't there some benefit in letting a finished brew sit a minute or two before use? Just some questions and thoughts! Again - thank you for your postings. I am also looking at the Bohmer Connected!

+Ron Morgan The Behmor is a nice machine too! Did you see our preview of it? (kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3qVnI2kfNWqZ9k) To answer your other question, letting your brew cool a little bit will help with flavor becoming more pronounced (thats a good thing!). So letting it sit a minute or two is great! People typically like to grab their coffee right away, which is why we see dripping from time to time. :D

I just saw this at BB&B. It look like a good contender to the Bonavita and the poor man's Technivorm. I've always liked Oxo products so I may give it a try. Keep up the brewing.

FYI, I just saw on another site (wirecutter) that as of Apr 20, 2018, OXO has apparently acknowledged the dripping problem and has an updated brew basket they'll send to anyone with this problem. Anyway, I'm currently trying to decide between this and the Bonavita 1901TS. One thing I like about the Bonavita is the pre-immersion step, and it seems the OXO doesn't have this, since it's not mentioned in any of the literature. I currently brew for two people using a Bonavita porcelain immersion dripper (like a pour-over but with a stop valve that lets you immerse the coffee in the water, making it more like a french press style. I mostly brew coffee that's been home-roasted, so it's typically super fresh and gives a nice bloom, another reason I felt pre-immersion would be helpful. I'm looking for a machine that most of the time would be used for 2 people (so for the Bonavita, I would typically brew half a pot or maybe a little less; the OXO seems designed for this level of adjustment, but I'm curious how good a cup the Bonavita makes at this level), but I also want to accommodate more for guests (say at least 4 people). The delayed brew ability of the OXO is nice, but not super important to me, as I typically wouldn't want to grind the coffee the night before (unless I have an early wake up to catch a flight or something). TLDR: I'm looking for an automatic brewer that'll be good for freshly-roasted coffee, usually for 2 people but can scale up to at least 4 people on occasion. Any advice is appreciated.

Need to order one of these. Do you need to wash the top part under the cone plastic insert go? The breville comes out and looks like it’s easier to clean.

Had one for a few months. If you love a pour over coffee, this is the machine to get. The coffee is good and strong. It’s pour over without you standing over the basket and waiting for it to drain. You really don’t have to clean anything except the basket and Karafe. The plastic disk occasionally has a bit of coffee residue that rinses right off. All the rubber pieces are removable and washable. I have the 2-9 cup model. 😊

I'd like to see you brew the minimum 2 cups and see how it long it takes and how it tastes. I do a single cup manual brewing process and twelve ounces at a time (2 six-ounce cups) doesn't sound like too much coffee for me. I don't want a pod machine.

Would love to see a blind taste test with the OXO Barista Brain 9 cup vs. the Bonivata or Technivorm. I returned my Bonavita 1900 for the OXO 9 cup and have been pretty happy with the decision. Curious what you guys think of it up against the other greats in its class that it is meant to go against. Great vids by the way!

@stephengraham6355
@stephengraham6355 6 жыл бұрын
Jasmine Jones, I have this particular coffee maker and really liked it as far as the water reservoir goes you shouldn't have to clean it out but at the end of the cycle what I do is fold up a napkin and open the top a little bits, just so it can dry out quickly.

How does this OXO Barista Brain stack up against the Bonavita 1900?
@SeattleCoffeeGear

+kimberly dalton Both brew a great cup of coffee. The OXO has more features than the Bonavita. It allows for single serving brewing as well as an auto on feature. So those are great features if you are looking for them. Both are SCAA certified and brew at the perfect temperature. You can add both products into the compare feature on our website if you would like to see the stats side by side :D Thanks for watching!

Much better than the bonavita imo. The bonavita is a PITA to use due to its design- the coffee basket being attached to the carafe. Oxo has also has much more features (my favorite being able to sneak a cup before its done brewing :) )

+Seattle Coffee Gear It does one cup? Hmm.... Will it also do plain clean hot water into a cup? Say for Aeropress?
@ryno4573

+kimberly dalton The Oxo seems to be more "intelligent", it will change the brewing strategy for the amount of coffee you are making and it adjusts for altitude. Bonavita did not have a clear answer when I asked if theirs adjusted for altitude. The Bonavita is still a nice coffee maker, it just seems too simple, reminds me of a Bunn.
