I've actually thought about this lol. Beecher is Dorothy obviously. Alvarez is the Scarecrow (no brains=his dumb decisions), Kareem Said is the Tinman (his heart problems), O'Riley is the cowardly lion (never fights directly), and Schillinger is the Wicker Witch that everyone hates. I actually think McManus is the Wizard because the Wizard ultimately is a powerless figure just like Tim is

Show peaks in season one. The entire psychological manipulation storyline of Beecher becoming Schillinger’s prag, and then the table flip, is some of the most cathartic character storytelling ever. And then the riot in the finale was amazing. Show never reached those heights, but still maintained baseline quality. Special shoutout to the Season 4 Finale, which was a brutal rug pull. Hilarious

I completely agree, the pilot might be the best pilot episode of any show I've watched. I also remember being amazed when I saw I had only watched like 3 episodes, because it felt like so much had already happened. It also didn't feel overwhelming to keep track of all the characters, which is sometimes an issue for me with shows. It probably helped that the setting was inside the prison for the entire show, great choice in my opinion. I thought it went too off the rails and a bit nonsensical with season 4 so I don't know how to feel about it overall. Definitely need to rewatch it in a few years though.

Schillinger is one of the most convoluted villains of all time. In one season he crucifies a sex offender and then two seasons later he has Beechers son kidnapped and mutilated. His scene with the mayor at the end is funny af. Hes a really menacing villain who does all this crazy shit but hes in literally every episode, and sometimes its hard to take him seriously, and JK adds this charisma. Very underrated character. Some people dont like him but Omar White was the best part of Seasons 4B-6 and the worst part of the show was how him and Said were killed off

about time someone did a review on this. this show is by far the most gorey TV series I've seen. The way how people were stripped naked and left for dead on walls, molested, etc.. OZ held no punches, and I love it. I heard that pack in the days a lot of things shown in OZ used to happen, I highly doubt it happens now due to so many cameras, you can rarely get away with murders nowadays.
