WIll Fucking Lee....this is the bass player all the young Jaco Wanna-Bees need to pay attention to. Will does it all; funk, rock, jazz, blues...and for those who don't know, Will sings his ASS off! His jingle credits are legendary. First time I've ever heard Oz...he smokes! And Carlock...damn...I had no idea he was that freakin' good!

Shit, this guys can surely play. That bass player alone -and his dancing- just makes up for the stillness of Oz. And THAT drummer...I'm fokkin' speechless.

Love this vid...the style and tone remind me of John Scofield, which is a fine thing. Lee and Carlock make it memorable. Thank you, noble poster...good one.

Carlock is absolutely amazing-I think Dave Weckl and Keith are the two best drummers in the world right now. Will Lee is also fabulous,my girlfriend said-"Who is that skinny white boy playing bass? He is freaking awesome !"I got a good laugh from that.I didnt know Will had such good moves-not bad for a session musician legend

@Baddstuff I didn't say anything about reading giving you chops. If you want chops, practice chops. If you want to be able to read, practice that too. I was just saying that being able to read music, which I think should be mandatory, will give you the "one up" on someone who can't read; especially if you want to do studio sessions like Keith. You can have all the chops in the world, but there are people in the world who don't get gigs, namely recording sessions, because they can't read.

You may find that if you allow the stick to do that it allows the drum to sound its best...paul wertico has been teaching that for years....check out han bennink if you can...hes a true inovator....

@TheSyncopator Maybe you have wider rage of possibilities when getting a gig, recording session... but GOOD MUSICIAN doesn't equal MUST READ. Michael Landau is not a good reader, but is one of the most demanded session musicians, because he knows what the song needs, sounds great, he has good taste, creativity, groove... etc, etc. And those things have nothing to do with reading. Of course reading will help you, but in my opinion is not a MUST.

@smurd82 Actually you don't need to read music to be a good musician. It helps to communicate and write down ideas, and of course it's good to have that knowledge, especially to be a session musician, but there are thousands of great musicians who can't or coudn't read (George Benson, Robben Ford, Dennis Chambers, Eric Clapton, Hendrix, Wes Montgomery, Charlie Christian, Maceo Parker, Paco de Lucia...).

Personal preference really. When he does his groove in this, it's nice and tight, his tone is ok... but there's nothing new or interesting about it, it's just "ok". When he branches out into his other sections, I just don't dig them much, they seem abstract, for the sole purpose of being abstract.
