Wendy: Get him on his meds or stay away Ruth: Loud and clear boss lady, do neither and watch him spiral out of control 🤙🏾

@SSJaye Ruth should have listened to Wendy

@SSJaye Ruth should of known that the person that knows what's best for Ben, is his fucking SISTER. If she would of listened to Wendy, Ben could of stayed and nothing would of happened, she's the one who LITERALLY tells Ben that she launders money for a drug cartel. This is all on Ruth. Not to mention she gets him out of the mental institution where he should of stayed - avoiding all of this mess and his death.

@@alexcapek561 Could not agree more. Wendy had no choice...and she literally was trying every which way to get him out of there alive. When he bought the burner phone at the convenience store, Wendy knew...if he didn't go then all of them - Wendy, Marty, the kids - were going to be murdered. When Ruth acts all self-righteous with Wendy in the scene when she quits and goes to Darlene Snell (what????), it almost didn't ring true...she was too smart not to know that Wendy was right. In this scene, Wendy laid it all out in a rare moment of full honesty and even vulnerability and Ruth ignored it all.

Ben died because of Ruth's ignorance. people are just too short-sighted to see it.

@@alexcapek561 I think putting the blame solely on Ruth is a bit unfair... Wendy was actually the one to reveal they worked for a cartel, and despite that he seemed stable enough up until he figured out what Wendy truly is. There's also an argument to be made for Wendy commiting Ben far earlier into a private facility instead of a horrible state hospital later on. There's alot of factors for Ben's spiral imo.

The two women solely responsible for Ben's death. 1: if Wendy would've sent him away like Marty said from jump, then his death would've been avoided. 2: Ruth not only didn't make him take his meds, she got him out of the hospital AFTER seeing him spazz and knowing what he was capable of.
@studentstudent8509

I can honestly see the difficulty in forcing someone w mental health issues to take their meds, but yeah she should’ve definitely left him alone after that as the alternative. Or left him in the hospital.
@prettypoppin_552
@prettypoppin_552 3 жыл бұрын
Nah this is all on Ruth. The fact that wendy didn't send him away from jump is irrelevant because after she had him committed he was no longer a threat to the byrdes, the cartel, himself or anyone else and was 100% safe

Laura Linney is so perfect in this role. The way she switched from concerned and almost on the verge of tears to the stone-cold "help get him back on his tears, or don't see him" was masterful. I think the way Wendy communicates with people is fascinating in the way she uses cues like her tone of voice and eye contact to assert power.

Marty was right. Wendy screwed up by letting Ben stay , and Ruth made it worse by getting him out of the hospital. Ben wouldn’t take the meds. Even someone like Ben, if they make enough noise, sooner or later someone was going to get curious and start looking around. In the hospital, he was safe and covered- just a guy way off his meds. But Jesus, how does Wendy not see what was completely obvious to Marty- that this guy should NOT be around a cartel operation? Good lord, a blind man could see this coming

This was a wonderfully written and acted scene. Wendy's description of bipolar disorder was particularly eloquent, "losing all sense of scale and perspective" was a great way to put it. All I feel is that Wendy could've been a bit more stern and explicit about the danger Ben would pose to them (ex: the violence) instead of letting Ruth find out for herself. I think both were blinded by their love for Ben in their own ways.

Ruth is to blame. Wendy was at fault for the beginning but she solved the issue by putting him in the psych ward. Ruth is a 100 percent to blame for his death.

I get why they say borderline personality disorder might be or theoretically is on bipolar spectrum. They are extremely similar in some ways. Dangerous impulsivity, huge reactions to small things. Extreme constant mood swings (difference in bipolar is longer lasting well defined episodes of mood, with good periods of stability in between episodes (manic or depressive). Bpd is constant instability. Happy angry sad horny ashamed guilty religious not religious….. It is hell. But we will make it 😎

Two things were working against Ruth, she care for Ben and Ben has made the medication seem like it makes him feel awful, empty, and as someone who loves Ben, she doesn’t want him to feel that way, but at this point in the show she’s also lost any sense of trust in Wendy, so it’s hard for her to believe this is genuine. But I love this scene because you can really see Wendy isn’t being vindictive or manipulating Ruth, she concerned for not only Ben’s health but Ruth’s as well
