I agree, avoid pharma at all costs. Type 2 diabetes is reversible in 80% of cases through diet and exercise. It's not easy but it's the better route compared to medication that can give you gastroparesis and various other problems they don't even link to the medications. I took antibiotics my doctor gave me "just on case" and ended up with gastoparesis for 3 years and nerve damage. From 3 days of antibiotics. This crap is permanent. Whatever is in these medications alters the mechanisms in your body and lead to dysfunction. There's no way of making these mechanisms go back to the way they were before.

At my doctor's office there is a man who is a medical pharmacist talk me into taking ozempic. Went to the pharmacy and they told me they were out of ozempic and we'll get it in the next few days. I went home and started doing some research on ozempic and one of the doctors I was listening to on KZbin said if you have gastroparesis which I do you should not be taking ozempic. I called the medical pharmacist and told him I will not be taking ozempic. I am fine with the diabetic regimen that I am on right now. We are nothing but guinea pigs to the pharmaceutical companies.

Type 2 diabetes is caused by being overweight and not looking after yourself properly. You can cure it yourself just by changing your diet and lifestyle. People keep getting on their high horse about people taking it when they don’t have diabetes 2. But diabetes 2 is self inflicted anyway.

My daughter has gastroparesis, not from ozempic. It's hard to imagine how awful this condition is if you do not know it personally. It is a literal condition of starvation. And some days, food does not want to move down your throat. This is how doctors should be warning their patients, not keeping drug reps around to sell more. This is terrifying. A woman at my work was casually talking about how her sisters are on it and not her because she can't afford it. She laughed at me. These side effects start when you stop taking it.

We need to change our diets and regulations. My Russian surgeon at Cleveland clinic told me it was caused by my American diet. He always makes me cry. Botched doctors are for it I was shocked. People sadly have suffered from this horrific disease way before Ozempic. Maybe this will bring some attention to these people who sadly have it so much worse than this woman. And there is no known cure. Ozempic patients can have hope that going off of it eventually will restore their body. But I wouldn’t wish this on anyone! May we all heal.

I have worked as a NP in Endocrinology for many years. Ozempic is one of the best medications we have seen to manage diabetes. Diabetes can cause gastroparesis. If her glucose levels stayed too high, that damages nerves throughout the body, including those in the stomach and intestines. If she lost nearly 50% of her body weight, I suspect she had uncontrolled diabetes for many years. So she may have had it underlying from the diabetes to begin with, but Ozempic can make symptoms worse. I’m sorry she is having these medical issues, but Ozempic is a lifesaving medication with much lower risks to health than allowing poorly controlled diabetes to ravage someone’s body.

@@suzannek3406 I'm an RN, and I know that the diet pushed by the ADA (bought and paid for by Coca Cola, the ultra-processed food industry, and Big Pharma) and what is fed to diabetics in the hospital are criminal! 60 grams of carbohydrates per meal for a patient that is essentially allergic to carbohydrates is medical malpractice! You would never tell a patient allergic to shell fish to go ahead and eat all the shrimp they want, just take this shot of epinepherine and a few benadryl before you eat! The only difference in these two senarios is the shrimp will kill the patient quickly as where the diabetes kills one rotting body part at a time! It's not even "healthy carbs" it's high fructose corn syrup. Type 2 diabetics go into the hospital on pills and leave on insulin. If you're an Endocrinology NP and you in any way support the standard of care pushed by the ADA you're either suffering from a case cognitive dissonance or are a willful participant in harming those that came to you for help. However, if you recognize that standard of care is failing those in your care and actually want to help your patients I suggest you join The Society of Metabolic Health Practitoners. As far as "well controlled" levels still causing damage I agree 100%. We know that microvascular damage starts at an a1C above 5.8, so why then does the ADA recommend maintaining an a1C at 7.0 for T2DM, and why does the ADA and Endocrinologist recommend my cousin keep her T1DM 2 year old at a blood glucose level of 180-200? That's an a1C well above the level known to cause microvascular damage eventually leading to diabetic retinopathy and CKD! Also, telling someone, directly or indirectly, to stay in their lane because they don't work in healthcare is ridiculously condescending. Health experts have been wrong on countless occasions leading to the deaths of 100s of thousands, if not millions of people of the centuries. Starting with the medical establishment ignoring the warnings of Ignaz Semmelweis, that if they only washed their hands after playing with cadavar's women and babies wouldn't die of childbirth fever. More recently the medical establishment ridiculed Dr Bernard Lown, Cardiologist, inventor of the 1st defibrillator, but more importantly the 1st doctor to insist that cardiac patient's be ambulated early instead of strict bedrest. His collegues held mock funeral processions throughout the cardiac floor when he was on duty. They accused him of continuing Nazi medical torture experiments, calling him the American Mengele. Now we know both were correct. Now on to bad drugs, Vioxx anyone?? They knew Vioxx was killing people, it was in their documents, "great drug, too bad what it does to the heart, but will make a lot of money!" The largest criminal fines ever paid out were all paid out by Pharmeceutial compaines. Here's a link to just a short list of drugs that were causing far more harm than good, prescriptiondrugs.procon.org/fda-approved-prescription-drugs-later-pulled-from-the-market/. Plese don't claim ignorance of the harm drugs have caused to patient's over the years. These patients are NOT being given informed consent about all the potential risk related to the drugs they are prescribed. Based on your above comment, I'm willing to bet all the times you prescribe Ozempic you only sold the upside of the drug and downplayed the risk. Do you even know the NNT for Ozembic? How about the realitive risk/benefit versus the absolute risk/benefit? If you don't know the answer to these questions then you don't have the right to talk down to someone and tell them to stay in their lane because they don't work in healthcare. Lastly, making a blanket statement "you don't know," well YOU DON'T KNOW anything about her, maybe she watched someone she loved die a slow miserable death, rotting away, one body part at a time, becaue of the bad advice given to them by practitoners of the SICK-care industry bought and paid for by Big Pharma.

After about 2 weeks I started losing my appetite, lost about 50lbs but I would not eat for 3-5 days because I have no desire for food and the thought of eating makes me sick. I’ve been off ozempic for about a week and remain the same. I’m a diabetic but did not have this problem until I started ozempic. I had a healthy appetite which is probably why I was overweight. I’m about to start getting tested for gastrparesis and pray I don’t have it and that ozempic just needs to leave my system. I refused after investigating how it works and my on going gastric issues. Most doctors are clueless about drugs and their dangers. Lipitor almost crippled me. Occasional use of Ativan for insomnia gave me insomnia, anxiety and panic disorder, then 8 years of torture dealing with the nervous system damage during and after the 'taper' where I was forced to take the drug daily, becoming completely dependent upon it. Not to mention 9 other psych meds forced on me, which made me worse...and I was called non-compliant. There was nothing wrong with the drugs...all the docs agreed, I was the problem...i was mentally ill and refusing treatment. Even my sons said, it's your fault...you took the drug. This is madness! Ozempec is not the answer. At any given point of time there should be only 4 grams of sugar (glucose) in our blood stream. But majority of people eat 150+ grams of carbohydrates per meal that is being converted to glucose. So on average people are consuming 37 teaspoons of sugar per meal. Then, they repeat it 2 more times. This is insane amount of sugar and this is how you gain weight and become diabetic. Remember, there supposed to be only 4 grams of sugar in blood stream at any given point of time. Every carbohydrate is converted to glucose inside our bodies. No exceptions. These are bread, rice, potatoes, pasta, spaghetti, pizza, starchy vegetables, beans, oatmeal and many more. To achieve the same results without ozempec and be healthy, eat animal proteins like meat & eggs, butter, fish, seafood. Some cooked vegetables are acceptable in small quantities.

It is not a drug for diabetes. It's a drug used to treat some diabetic issues. This is where the whole story is not showing up, it is one thing that this drug can treat.

That’s why it’s YOUR job to read the leaflet that comes with all prescriptions. It’s not your doctor’s job to hold your hand. Every single medication comes with the possibility of serious side effects. This is not new or special to Ozempic.

I’m a diabetic so my doctor suggested it. I started taking it two months ago and at first I felt great, lost a few pounds and sugar levels were fantastic until I had to go to the ER for severe stomach pain. Was diagnosed with gallstones, no infection yet so they let me go home. I have been with this annoying pain ever since.

My girlfriend whom doesn't have diabetes is going through a living hell as we speak because she stopped it. I'll respect her and not share her symptoms. But she regrets it. It's horrible that people are misusing and abusing this medication. I'm so disappointed by the abuse of this med. Don't care what your excuses are for taking it outside of being diabetic. Stop being truly lazy and lose it the traditional way. Lazy. Pure laziness including my friend. Who will never be the same again

I understand that there are people that use the drug to control their blood sugars. but for the people that use it for only weight loss only.. it's sad that some people choose to be miserable just so they can be thinner. I lost over 80 lbs. naturally with diet and weight lifting. it was hard, took 2 and half years, but I did it without any drugs or surgery. I know there are special circumstances for everything, but I think alot of the people taking Ozempic, Wagovy, etc. for easy weight loss just don't want to take time to change their lifestyles.

I have been on it for 3 months but just stopped. When my dose was increased to 1mg my stomach gas shot up like a bullet. My stomach stopped digesting food until next day, I could not use toilet for 2-3 days. I have lost weight nearly 2 stone but I can’t continue as the stomach gas has worsened. I just ended it but still the symptoms are still there. I think low doses of ozempic don’t give you much trouble. A part from the side effects it’s a good product for managing weight loss.

Detailed ptinted information accompanies every drug. READ. And if you cannot read, ASK someone to read it to you. And ask the prescribing health care provider; after all, you have hired him/her to inform you so that you can make an INFORMED DECISION.

This woman is an infamous liar she was fired from the Toronto Public School board for faking being sent a harassing note. She is saying that neither the prescriber of the first gastroenterologist was able to identify it was ozympic nor any doctor she saw in the ER. Anyone would figure this out unless they were extremely intellectually limited and in spite of her love of attention and numerous stories that don't exactly add up she is certainly not that dumb. She also had a service dog for TYPE 2 diabetes which is quite bizarre it was also a tiny little bread that does not have the capacity to detect blood glucose levels. She also trained the dog herself because they are not offered to TYPE 2 diabetics and never considered that instead of a dog if it was that bad she could just use a CGM. She seems to really love attention and her first foray into attention involved saying she was addicted to crack cocaine and homeless. It's quite wild. I know she comes from money it is something she has highlighted in many of her bids for attention but I still think this is all an attempt to get long-term disability from the Toronto Catholic Board's LTD. (in spite of being fired from the public school board she took a position with the Catholic board not too long after)

Funny how she states that A1C was 5-6. And she was happy with the weight loss. As she had lost half her body weight. Seem like she was on it for the weight loss not her diabetes any A1c 6 or under is considered good. I don't buy that she was really on it for diabetes as she claims. Furthermore, oral meds and insulin should have been tried before Ozempic. Fishy story. And before you come at me I take an oral med and ozempic for diabetes in March my A1C was 11.4. I started in April in June repeat A1c was 9.4. And while I have lost 28 pounds. I have been careful and make sure I get nutrition and electrolytes and good contact with my medical care team to avoid issues. I did have some nausea in the first month. But all fine now. I just don't buy her story. I'm sorry she is not well. But her medical provider should have stepped in and stopped it early on and maybe she would be healthy.
