Thanks for the support on this video :) I used Cyberpunk v1.04. Now there are tons of ways to tweak the game for slower PCs + CDPR has dropped updates to improve performance. I'm not sure if I'll end up trying those out in the future -- but I figured I would let y'all know. Hope y'all had a great Christmas!

You should give it another go using v1.06 utilizing these two nexus mods. www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/107 - www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/183 Set resolution to 1366x768, resolution scaling to 65, cap framerate to 30, disable async compute using config overhaul, and make sure AVX crash fix is turned on in the Cyber Engine Tweaks.

Turns out a decent amount of new thermal paste was all it took, now it makes for a decent home theater pc. So much gets thrown out without being technically broken :(

He's near Atlanta GA which is a city that tends to attract people with a lot more money than sense at times. My sister use to live near Atlanta in the early 00's, and I went to help her take some stuff off to recycle once while I was visiting her for the weekend, and I found 2 laser disc players, a couple of G3 Imacs just ready for the picking I took home, cleaned up, and flipped on eBay for some nice cash at the time, and yes everything worked, just one of the Laser disc players needed a belt, and was missing it's remote, but the Imacs had the keyboards, and mice included.

Can only speak for Germany, it's rare but it happens. Someone wanted to get rid of an old mystery machine that wasn't really running anymore and was dustier than what we saw in this video. Paid the guy 14 bucks for an i7 2600k (also had to fix the cooler), 650W Corsair PSU, GT610 GPU and an open case. Essentially needed a new cooler, case, RAM and SSD but still got a really good deal, especially with the PSU.

I have had success with a heat gun using Kapton tape and tinfoil over sensitive components as a protective buffer. I have done 8 cards total and had 6 come back and are still running up to 2 years later now. Never liked the oven method, I use a temperature probe (450° F is the sweet spot) and with the above mentioned method I can zero in on the die itself. This has saved me tons of money buying used dead "parts" cards for cheap potato rigs I then sell (how I make a living). Half a dozen rigs sold with refurbishment done to the GPUs using this method and not one warranty call to date.

I removed the original CPU and put in a Xeon CPU in it and I now use it as a game server. I use the case with a different system because I needed the front external bay slots so I could install optical drives in it so I can RIP my DVD, Blu-ray, and CD collections. So long story short I was able to repurpose them both.

My 7 year old daughters PC that I gave her for Christmas I literally pulled out of our local transfer stations scrap metal bin, in the rain. It's an old Am2+ socket Asus Mb, had an Am2 CPU, 6g of ddr2 ram, a 512mb 9800gt all in a really nice case. I dried it all out, cleaned the hell out of it and started working on it. I had an Am3 3.1ghz quad core on a shelf from my old rig, so I put that in and also had an extra 4g of ddr2 on a shelf,so I got it up to 10g of ddr2. I removed the power supply that was in the case," worked but was ugly" and put in a 600w modular power supply I had on a shelf. There was no hard drives, but I had several older small ones," used a 500g,a 300g and then a 200g as a boot drive". Everything worked very good as it was, but then Christmas day we went to the inlaws house and my brother in law had an r9 390 8g gpu that he said was trash so I got that too. Turns out the old r9 was simply under powered, and is working great in her PC. All in all, I have a total of 9 bucks invested in her PC," new thermal paste" ,it runs everything she wants to play," Minecraft, 7d2d and yonder currently", so she's happy as can be.

most people seem to not want to buy used electronics at all. the market for all these products is set up in a way so replacing your iphone, or your laptop, or your TV, or whatever product, continually get more affordable and easy and discourages people from taking the time and effort to learn how to fix them instead. It's also why most people opt out of the far superior DIY route to PCs and just buy a Dell or a console. We have these business models to blame for our consumer habits and the ridiculous amount of e-waste produced. Markets for these products understand that electronics are complicated and reduce all the work on the consumer end by selling weaker pre-built devices. That way there is always a sizeable upgrade in the works to the outdated product you literally just bought. You're always better off learning how and doing things yourself, and stretching your dollar, than trusting someone who is targeting you for profit...

I found a computer several months ago at the dump with the same Coolermaster v8 cooler on a Phenom II x6 1090t. The motherboard was a basket case that took a lot of work to get running, it had some corrosive substance splashed across the RAM slots that required neutralizing and repairing of trace and component damage, but it eventually came alive and worked.

I bought a Zotac GTX 480 in 2010, it was a great heater! After 3 years it died due to the tin solder epidemic going on at the time. 2 years later I finally got the courage to bake it as a last resort and it came back to life! It has spent the last 5 years in Dad's PC.

Love that you have a faith element to your videos to those who have the eyes to see and ears to hear - had some computer woes a few days ago and ONLY by the grace of God did that PC get back up and running. I did not have the patience of my own self to dismantle the thing, but God gave me peace to try a simple fix before blowing money on a whole new rig. God bless you sir, this video is very comforting 😅

I have a similar situation to yours where an old x58 PC with an i7-930 and GTX 750ti was just collecting dust and practically thrown out. My friend traded it to me for my old 3DS and some other stuff I had, and I brought it home and fixed it. Turns out, it just needed a new cable for the 1200W PSU (they didn't have the right one that plugged into the wall) and a reinstall of windows (this one was corrupted, viruses maybe?) and I got it working. 12GB of RAM, a recycled X5675 from AliExpress (equivalent to the i7 4790 in terms of benchmarks) and an RX 580 (traded with a friend + $70 thrown in) and it is BASICALLY Cyberpunk recommended specs. x58 is such a GOD chipset when you already have the motherboard. Great video by the way, absolutely love your channel! P.S. if you ever make another video on the i7 930 (specifically this CPU) try overclocking it to 4.2 GHz like I did, you get some FUNNY results. (Games speed up and act differently, Black Ops III games that I hosted moved at double the speed)

'Lazarus' is aas apt name for a PC brought back from the dead. My PC from 2006 had been brought back from the dead so many times I called it 'Revenant'. I did a major upgrade a couple of years ago, cannibalising a few parts from Revenant, and from it's ashes rose 'Phoenix', my current machine.
