Mate, im forever grateful for people like yourself that upload ransom vids like this. Unrelated to your issue, but the little plastic 'junction' in the cooling circuit shown in your vid at 9:26? Yer that gave out on me and as you are aware a total pain to get to. Mechanics all near me are booked out for a cppl weeks. Will he replacing myself and seeing a complete teardown to gain access is going to help heaps. Also, for others watching this, mazda have since replaced the part with solid metal tubing. Much better.

Great job and thx Mate. Your video helps a lot. I followed precisely all your steps and after 12h in 2 persosns we succeeded to reinstall everything as it was before. The problem is that the board is full of errors as a Christmas tree 🎄, the car is on limp mode one without turbo running. Canceled all the errors via diagnostic module but without success, the errors are there. I did something wrong? Thx for any suggestion because we made this operation just as prevention, the car hasn't any error before 😢

When I came to restart mine it struggled for a long time. Could it have been excess cleaner left in the intake and valve ports? It's ok now, but had me worried for a while.

I followed your steps in detail and cleaned intake manifold and EGR. When I put the parts back together, car started first time no issue. No codes after test drive. However there is little power when I accelerate (which wasn’t there before) as well as a loud whistle noise. Car struggles to go over 3000rpms. No other engine light has come up. Have you had this issue? If so how do you fix?

Update to anyone who is having P0401 code in Australia. I have a 2017 Cx5 Diesel, same engine. With 140,000kms I followed these exact steps and it’s my first time doing it. The issue I was having was due to 2 hoses that weren’t clamped properly and low coolant levels. Found out by doing a smoke test. And saw the engine over heating. This job took be 20 hours over 2 days. Personally I would not do this again on my own. I found a mechanic who will do it for $1000AUD in Australia. And they were willing to do an ultrasonic clean for the EGR AND Intake manifold and a walnut blast for the engine bay. A much better job Then what I could ever do with a screwdriver and carb cleaner. This is a really hard job that can be done, but will take a long time and at least 2 people. But if you can find a mechanic to do the job I would recommend going to them as they will have the resources and better tools to get the job done better.

@MrNiceGuy94
@MrNiceGuy94 Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I didn't reuse the coolant I just topped it up with distillied water, but technically you can reuse it. However if it's old it's worth flushing😉 Well,here is an advice, if it doesn't start you may have to jump start it. Or you can make sure that when you clean the intake ports,the valves are properly closed and no deposit gets under the valves making it harder to start. If you have any further questions,please don't hesitate to ask them! 😉
@vrabievalentin4071
@vrabievalentin4071 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice. I'm planning to do this job shortly. Another question would be if you changed the gaskets with new or re-used the old ones. Thanks. If it helps, for manual transmission, the engine can also be rotated by switching to 4th gear and turning the driver's front wheel while the passenger's stays fixed.
@MrNiceGuy94
@MrNiceGuy94 Жыл бұрын
@@vrabievalentin4071 I only changed the intake manifold gasket and the throttle body gasket, because only they were available to buy separately. For the EGR valve,piping and EGR cooler I reused the old ones, becuase I couldn't get them. But maybe I was just lame :D and didn't know where to look for them. Yeah, I know about that technique, actually I have a video about it as well. I don't know why I didn't use it, would be certainly easier. But it is what it is. The car is fixed now ;) If you follow the video step by step you should be able to tackle this job with ease. It is quite simple and straightforward, there are just million bolts and screws to remember where you have taken them out from :D If you will need any help, feel free to ask it ;)

Hi followed the step to step guide, need a advise please. Got the EGR, throttle body, MAP sensor and manifold cleaned yesterday. It's for Mazda 6 2.2, 65 plate (2015). 71000 on the clock. Car started after cleaning, smoke came out of exhaust and got cleared within 5mins. Car was perfect on idle. Done the coolant bleed and filled the coolant.. Car was running for good 45mins on idle and heating working fine Took it for drive, power was back and felt smooth in every gear and no shakeness felt in flooring it The turbo was spooling can hear the turbo on the way home from good 25mins test drive 2nd time 4 hours later I went for the drive to the town and back 30mins drive, car was good and smooth and picking nicely in gears 2 hours later went for drive for 45mins and got to inside roads and notice could not hear the turbo or turbo spooling and speed wasn't picking up after gear change felt slight delay and could not hear the turbo what could be the issue?? Need little help with turbo as I do not hear the turbo spooling and delay in pick up speed, at the moment no engine management light Could it be issue with MAP sensor as it looks worn out? Gave the MAP sensor a good clean. Or any other sensors I need to check or clean? Thanks

Hi! Many thanks, great video. Was the code p0401 the only problem, no leaking egr? I’m asking because my problem is the rising pressure in the cooling system. It keeps filling the expansion tank. Cooling fluid won’t get back to the radiator when cooling down. There is a bit bubbling in radiator when app 3500rpm. Oil and cooling fluid don’t get mixed up. So I was wondering if egr leaks to the cooling system? Car is model 6 2013 2.2diesel 175hp and 300000km driven.
@MrNiceGuy94
@MrNiceGuy94 Жыл бұрын
@Janne Kallio Thank you. It had only the p0401 code. Well I think the EGR and the cooling system are connected so they can't leak to each other as they use the same coolant. I would check the thermostat if it is working, or would replace the coolant and then bleed it. However at 300k km I would definitely clean the EGR and the intake manifold from carbon deposits if it hadn't been done.

Hello, is it manual or automatic? First I would definitely check again for all the connectors if they were properly reconnected. However we had problems to start the car as well, we had to push start it as probably a few bits of carbon deposits were stuck around the valves and made it harder for the engine to turn over. Hi MrNiceGuy. Thanks so much for your video and great job with this project. Can you tell me if your car had any other symptoms other than the fault code? Did the car drive poorly? For me i have trouble starting my car (like the starter is lazy or underpowered). Its worse when the engine is already warmed up. but once the engine is started it drives normally. I have no fault codes and i have tested the battery - perfect and the cable connections and starter motor appears to be ok. Just wondering if its an early sign my car is starting to clog up with carbon deposits? Thanks again
@MrNiceGuy94
@MrNiceGuy94 Жыл бұрын
@Jack Foo Hi, it was a customer's car. It had the fault code, and he also told me that the car drives better than before, more likely was running poor because of the carbon buildup. Well, with your problem it could be the starter as you think or the carbon buildup as well. If it gets to the valves, it makes the engine more to turn over when starting. You can easily check if your car needs a cleaning. Just remove the MAP sensor off of the intake manifold and inspect the end of it. If it is dirty from oily carbon residue, you 100% need the get this job done. Also I would recommend doing it every 40-50k miles on this engine. Hope this helps! ;)

@@MrNiceGuy94 thanks again. What you say makes sense. I will try to eliminate the easier causes before tackling this project. I remember i pulled off the map sensor to check shorty after mazda replaced my engine. I did find alot of carbon deposits choking up the sensor. Hello, did you mean EGR cleaning fluid? If so, what might have happened that carbon deposit is stuck on top of the valve, and therefore it can't close properly so you have compression leak and that's why you can't start the car. It happened to me as well. Is it automatic or manual?

Well, you are lucky then. As if you said that you have removed the glow plugs and turned the engine over so that way you made sure nothing is inside the combustion chamber. So what you can do is to ask someone to tow you and that way you can push start the car. Whilst someone is pulling you with their car, sit in your one have 3rd gear engaged and the clutch pedal pressed, and when you are rolling release the clutch pedal. Just be very careful that you don't crash into each other whilst doing it.
