I was watching the torque sequence, reminded me of my recent torque wrench calibration. My torque wrench was only 3.5% incorrect after 30 years of use. They don't make tools like that anymore ! Hope you have a good week end, thanks for the upload
@notyou69503 жыл бұрын
It helps to work for a company that has a gauge lab on site and checks the tool calibration on regular time schedule. Those boys are serious about them gauges. Independent contractors don't have the time to do that or the need for the extra expense.

Well that’s a neat trick with the marks on the socket. Wish i’d thought if that when I did the last head. I’ll know for next time. Thanks for the video from the UK. You do so many different things there’s always something interesting to watch. 👍

The biggest problem I have with the paccar engine is lack of dealer training etc ..... Every time I've ever had a problem with a check engine light / engine shut down I've had to continuously take the truck to the dealer due to the simple fact that outside repair shops don't have access to Davie or similar software. 9 times out of 10 this meant multiple return visits back to the dealer most of the time my driver or I would make it about 5 mi down the road before the engine shut down lite would return ... Multiple problems with wiring harnesses for the emissions that I was stuck paying for until someone informed me that there was a service bulletin or recall after I spent thousands of chasing ghost repairs. Then there was the EGR valve repair which normally I could have done myself except for the simple fact the quick connects for the coolant lines on the EGR never worked properly and dealership informed me that there's a retrofit kit and I'd be looking at about $4,000+ for a simple EGR valve ..... I bought used EGR valve and a brass compression fitting fix that... Then there was a problem with horsepower multiple times I was told that the engines had a 500 horsepower rating let's just cut that in half and that's about the performance I received out of the mx-13 engine.

We use stahlwille manoskop 714/20 here in DAF N.V Netherlands to tighten specific bolts- It has programmes on it and then logs the torque and angle on the computer👍🏼 Stahlwille are 10 times ahead a snap on. German tools are the best you can buy😎

I know nobody knows what your doing more than you bud, but I'm surprised about the dish detergent. It works! It probably comes out in the water jackets. I wouldn't have thought to do that.

Once again I learned something from this video. You keep mentioning ninety degrees when using the torque wrench, and I don't really understand what you are taking about. But when you marked the bolt and then turned it until the mark on the socket matched it I think I am understanding, but still not certain. Anyway that's for class.

I'm working g on one of these! It's a 2015 kw t680 xm13 engine! The injector cup was bad he was told so kw dealer told him the cylinder head needs to be replaced. It was mixing antifreeze/diesel fuel.he drives a full three days and same thing again. I took off his valve cover fired it up and can see the injectors leaking very slightly with the oil at the base of the injector! I can see it is a new cylinder head new high pressure fuel rail gaskets look new new head bolts and a few other new parts Orings gaskets. I. Eleven the old injectors where put back in. As no mention of new injectors in the invoice. Could it be improperly installed injectors the orings? I checked the coolant/fuel filter housing it does nor have the option on this model.

What was the total cost of this rebuild. I was told by a local mechanic the head and block needed to be machined to assure a good head gasket seal. If this step wasn't done head gaskets would be a future issue

Warren, why dish soap (assuming that was dish soap in blue bottle) for sleeve o-rings instead of engine oil?
@StickNclutch3 жыл бұрын
Because soap won't swell up the o rings
@frednewman21623 жыл бұрын
@@StickNclutch thanks, so assuming that it doesn’t dry out when it gets hot and cause issues later? Is there a certain kind or a ingredient in the dish soap you should look for?
@johncrabtree8963 жыл бұрын
You want a product that swells the O-Rings. It helps them seal. There's a reason why the OE recommends the product they recommend, and it's not dish soap.
@CB-el3sv2 жыл бұрын
That's a negative. When o rings swell they become soft and loose their sealing ability. This is why some manufacturers do recommend dish soap but only on the coolant o rings. Oil is recommended for the oil o rings.

Kind of a dumb question here lol . But why do they offset the rod caps on these rods unlike a car engine the bolts are cross from each other. I never knew the purpose on these can anyone explain.
