What I love about this film is that it depicts a world that has potentially gone to shit and will probably keep going to shit, had its characters not done a single thing about it. Del Toro really did an excellent job at making you feel overwhelmed but, at the same time, pumped up because you just know there's a ray of shining hope in the form of its pilots. They gear up and go into battle with these calamities well knowing they may never come back but they don't back out and go in anyways. That's the sheer epicness that drives you throughout the overwhelming odds in this film. Its message: No matter how hard and dark it gets, humanity finds the best in it to find its way around a catastrophe. A perfect dystopian sci-fi thriller with perfect action packed scenes. You can just feel the heavy weight in every blow, it's so satisfying! This just goes to show us that a block buster can also work if in the hands of a proper director such as Totoro-san.

@memeaholic38574 жыл бұрын
Well as time goes on, especially in the Pacific Rim universe, technology is rapidly changing. Basically allowing for bigger and faster jeagers with more responsive control times. While it may not seem like it, the jeagers do still hit as hard as they did prior, it’s just more fluid. As for the damage to a Kaiju, as categories get more common, the kaiju get stronger and are more built for dealing with jeagers. The precursors learn about the defenses of earth and how each specific jeager fights with categories 1-3. Then once they learn they built kaiju specific to the jeager it’s going to fight. Leatherback is a good example. When Newt did a neural share between the kaiju brain, he saw what the precursors knew and they saw his. They learned about the weaknesses of the remaining jeagers through Newt and built leatherback to deal with striker, and otachi to spit acid throught the armor of cherno alpha and destroy the compod of Crimson Typhoon.

@@poslednisoud Exactly! And plus... The universe of Pacific Rim is already futuristic, there was no necessity to try to give to the Yaeger program a new shape! We've already felt how advanced the technology was! They really should keep upgrading the technology of piloting and building giant robots, and not completely regret, which was what we saw in Uprising! Simply a deception! A teenager build a yaeger from garbage? Come on... Pilots running in the con pod like they were in a eletric treadmill? What's happened with that armor's complex system for both pilots interaction with each other and with the robot itself of the firts movie? That's what gave us a sense of realism of what could it be if humans could pilot colossal robots! It can't never, NEVER lose the sense of colossal weight and size! The bigger it is, the slower the movements are, it doesn't matter how advanced the technology is! Uprising hasn't upgraded anything, it was a regression!

Seeing as Pacific Rim is blatantly inspired by anime, the speeds in the second movie are sort of to be expected. Plus, remember Raiju? That thing was almost too fast to fight. They only beat it because of the chain sword being strong enough to take it head-on. They kind of had to make them faster or the kaiju slower, and the latter was never going to happen.

Since the Kaijus have been adapting to the Jaeger program I've been thinking, Gipsy Danger kind of absorbs blunt force to the main sections of its body incredibly effectively. The only problem is that Gipsy has a ton of moving parts and mechanisms in the joint areas; so KnifeHead is able to exploit it perfectly by piercing the shoulder areas. Then Later when Gipsy is restored it takes on leatherback with no problem because her flaw isn't exploited (plus Otachi but that one was able to do better than Leatherback).
@YouStillHide Жыл бұрын
Leatherback only wanted to restrain gipsy long enough for otachi to find the source of the call, If we are being realistic, In that moment where leatherback is pushing gipsy, He could just crush the machine's head no problem, But if we are being realistic gipsy shouldn't even be able to move since an EMP literally fries all electronic devices nearby, And gipsy DOES have electronic devices, Anyways this is a great movie, I just noticed those two errors now lol.
@DaddyHensei Жыл бұрын
@@YouStillHide Analog in the case of the Gipsy Danger refers to the feedback loop that controls the full nuclear system. You see, it's easy enough to harden electronics against an EMP. The Jaegers were totally hardened against that, even the Striker. What makes Cherno Alpha and Gipsy Danger different from one of the more modern Jaegers, like Striker Eureka, is how the high powered systems work. Cherno Alpha and Gipsy Danger are designed to be always on. They get massive electrical power from nuclear fission, which means even if they got hit by an EMP and everything shut down, the power would keep running. Striker Eureka uses a complex magnetically contained fusion system which requires constant computer control. On the bright side, it can be turned off. When Striker Eureka was hit by the EMP, the amperage spike didn't fry the electronics, but it did cause them ALL to turn off, including the power systems which generate power. Striker Eureka can't restart without external power. It's never intended to shut off. Gipsy Danger also had a short shutdown, but because you can't turn off nuclear fission, the power systems came right back online after the EMP once the fuses reset. tl;dr by Analog, the pilot meant that the power system of Gypsy Danger was controlled by mechanical feedback and fuel rods, and thus could recover from a full shutdown.

I have a theory for Trespasser, Knifehead and Scunner. My theory starts off that if you look at their bodies, all three have the same kinda shell/amour piece on their backs. They also all have the same set of arms, to standard and two secondary. My theory is that the Precursors used the same base model for each of the three but changed up the heads to see which one is better The real life reason is that the same CGI model was just reused.
@Rammstein0963.2 жыл бұрын
This is actually known, according to official source iirc, the Precursors essentially Frankenstein a bunch of Kaiju together with varying body types and abilities, and then pit them against one another, with the "winners" being sent through the breach to attack us. If the Kaiju succeeds there, then they mass produce it, which is why if you look at the scene right before Gypsy explodes at the end, you'll see entire rows of pods, all of which contain Knifehead clones, because the Precursors know that design works against the only Jaeger we have left, Gypsy.

This first fight really set the tone for the whole movie. It makes you root for humanity more as having huge robots became a point of desperation rather than hope when you see it get beaten up brutally.

Something cool I noticed is that Knifehead went straight for the heart, which would instantly kill a human. The precursors would not realize that it won’t do much to a Jaeger until Knifehead crippled Gipsy Danger with a headshot.

Heyyyy how did I never notice this before? Notice how inside Gipsy’s Conpod (head) during the first fight with Yancy and Raleigh is older looking than with Raleigh and Mako?? It’s only a 5 year time skip but considering the context of apocalypse causing giant monsters and the world’s governments coming together to stop them, it seems plausible. Helps convey that there’s a time skip between Yancy’s death and Stacker re-enlisting Raleigh ..Even tho I never noticed until now XD

honestly i dont think they could've made a run for it. kaijus are exceptionally good swimmers and could easily catch up to gipsy.
@louisrobitaille58104 жыл бұрын
The ocean's depth makes no sense in this movie but no one's complaining about it. The water goes up to Gipsy Danger's thighs ish, but the Kaiju that can reach his arm can still swim and be invisible to Gipsy's pilots. The Kaiju would have to be way smaller to do this.

@louisrobitaille58102 жыл бұрын
@@Superfighterleo1 I just looked those up and that's not what I meant. You can see in the movies that the Jaegers walk in waist/thigh-deep waters most of the time. The Kaijus are as tall/as big as the Jaegers, yet they can completely submerge themselves and be invisible from above. It's like if you walked in a pool and had water up to your thigh/waist and your buddy next to you could casually swim next to you without you being able to tell he's there at all. (The human example doesn't really make sense because we're much thinner than tall whereas Kaijus are usually about as fat as they're tall, but it's the best analogy I got.)

Now this is how you show the real power of Jaegers. Big but Heavy. When Gypsy pull up both its arms and locked it you can understand how heavy it is and the movements are slow not becuase its old generation but because of its weight. True Masterpiece.
