You do a really good job of explaining weather patterns and their cause/effect relationships. It's really nice to have these complex subjects explained in a way that those of us who are not meteorologists can understand, allowing us to gain a deeper understanding of these topics. Thank you for doing these!

It is amazing how mild it is here in The 'Couv - we somehow dodged the stormy weather you had in Seattle. A lot of the wind likely headed east, so we didn't get the intensity. The days are mixed being from rainy to a sparkling afternoon light through rifts in the clouds. I love it because it is a perfect autumn - only the oaks and willows keep their leaves in these winds. Have a grand weekend .

Great video Michael! I'm happy you did a La Nina update as I just read the latest ENSO forecast a few days ago myself. If you are brainstorming ideas for future content, maybe a retrospective on some historical winter storms (ex: Feb 2021)? I'd be curious to get the more academic take on what factors can generate prolific lowland snowmakers in the PacNW.

Hey Michael! Long time fan and follower. I lived that you dipped your toe into the MJO in this video and would love a deeper dive if you were interested in that kind of content, I know you mentioned that in today's update. I saw Missoula NWS posted a seasonal update yesterday and had a splash of data in their video regarding the MJO over the Maritime continent and it correlating with arctic outbreaks similar to that of late December 2021- early January of 2022. Some interesting data for sure and was curious if that has caught your eye? I may not be explaining it the best, but the recent Missoula NWS KZbin winter update does a decent job. Hope all is well with you back in Washington!

Good video with a lot of data showing the complexity of the situation - thank you for sharing. Any thoughts on if La Nina is more likely to result in more of the atmospheric rivers we had recently and bombogenic cyclones as compared to El Nino or neutral years? Or, is there no correlation? Any thoughts on the huge precip we've already had for the month and how this could be possible for this just being an average La Nina? Where I live in the inland coastal mountain range just east of Florence we've already had 20 in of rain and the normal for Nov. in this location is only about 9 in.
