Because Rosalina is vastly more popular and relevant. Bowser Jr. is an important main character himself however his role is severely downplayed , and he is treated merely like a Bowser minion in most of his appearences as opposed to Rosalina who stands in her own ground being a heroine and the powerful mother of the lumas. Nintendo treats them this way so there's really nothing else to say. By the way several other characters such as Daisy and Walugi who are either not main or are irrelevant to the main line games have appeared more than Bowser Jr. so this isn't even about Rosalina. Stop being salty.

Nah, I think Double Dash has the best roster, it just needs Rosalina, someone that can be paired with her, Funky Kong, Dixie Kong (there is all the Mario cast but no one from the Donkey Kong series except the main character? That's a little sad), Kamek (since he was going to be a playable character in Mario Kart 64) and Shy Guy, and it would be perfect (if you still want Dry Bones we could pair him with Dry Bowser). I just think that a Double Dash Deluxe with all the tracks and 8 mechanics on the Switch could have been awesome. Too bad we still have Link and Pink Gold Peach in the roster.

The only character inclusions I don't really like are Honey Queen, Baby Rosalina/Daisy, Gold Mario, Tanooki Mario/Cat Peach, and obviously Pink Gold Peach. Too many obscurity and Honey Queen in MK7 doesn't make since at all considering how big she was in Super Mario Galaxy. The rest I'm perfectly fine with, especially new additions in Mario Kart Tour such as Pauline and King Boo's Luigi's Mansion variant.

(read all of this... IF YOU DARE.) Uh hem... So in the beginning character rosters were small, but they did get improved some way, then there are other ways things got a turn for the worse, so first 3 MK games had 8 good characters and in MKDD the roster improved greatly... along with making a mistake that will haunt MK in the future, we got 20 characters... with 2 of them baing baby versions we already have, the first time I saw them, I thought they were the weakest in the roster of MKDD, but that was in... little did I know that trend was going to be a problem, Skipping MKDS all 12 were at worse OK, nothing bad, then when we got in to MKWii we got 25 characters... unfortunately the babies are back and the brought friends 2 more babies we didn't need along with a ded bowser... at this point 5 clones was kinda pushing it for me, but I'll look pass that, then MK7 came a long with 17 characters and 4 of them were new terrible characters we ended up getting, Honey Queen, Wiggler, and Lakitu... and then metal mario... metal mario so happened to become a meta character of that game with B Dasher and Red Monster wheels and everyone one playing as him, because of said popularity of being meta we now go to vanilla MK8 with all 30 characters and all of the babies returned, metal mario returning as well and they each brought a bad friend once again... baby rosalina... and pink gold peach, at this point of my maturity I was getting upset at the roster of having 7 carbon copies, then we get DLC, 6 more characters, the first time I heard I was exited for the characters... turns out literally half of them were garbage, dry bowser returns and the metal clones got buddies... tanooki mario and cat peach... MY GOSH... 10 OF THEM... literally reached double digit clones, but things did get a little better in the Deluxe version of MK8 5 characters that were good brining it to 32... I'm sorry 42, (if you can call it that) every clone returned from a past game and we got 4 more which is a big disappointment. MK8D would be a perfect if not for all the clones, this makes me worry for the future of MK, we could get 15 of those losers, heck even 20 of them if we are really unlucky. I hope we don't get to the point were we have to call Mario Kart, Clone Kart.
