Glad to see your new found interest in pipe smoking. I think you did great for your first time. Don't pack too tight, don't scorch the tobacco or pipe when lighting, take it nice and slow and relight if you need to. Muttonchop has some great videos and information. I've learned stuff from him I never even considered in 25 years of smoking pipes. For tamping and relighting, I only use the lighter when it is completely gone out, always try a soft tamp first while drawing. Pressure of a tamp, it has been said should be the weight of touching a baby's head or caressing a woman's cheek... always lighter than you'd expect. Definitely try other blends and cuts of tobacco, each have various ways to pack, and some say different pipes smoke certain types of tobacco better. The weather and humidity can help or hinder a good smoke, as I'm sure they do with cigars. Some people even smoke different blends at different times of the year. Enjoy your journey.

@@TheGingerPiper I tend to smoke whatever I'm in the mood for, but many say Virginias and Virgina Perique blends are good in the Summer. I know others that prefer aromatics in the Spring. Sometimes it depends on how many of what kind I have open and need to finish, lol.

Just found your channel...thanks for sharing your first experience. Always great to see other people's opinions and experiences. I recently have found that even if you have to light your pipe quite a few times, every time you relight you get the flavors to come out each time which is nice. We're always learning new things everytime we smoke!

Cool vid, thanks for sharing your first experience. I'm sure you already know, but there is a lifetime of exploring all the different blends, pipe to blend combos that will forever keep things new. Good luck and happy smoking. 👍🍂🔥💨✌️ Maybe try "rubber softy bits" on the stem so you can clench the pipe in your mouth without the plastic against your teeth.
