You have to take into account that genious like Sabicas or Paco de Lucia were completelly devoted to their instrument, and they started having a career as Flamenco guitar players very soon, getting money from it, so they could practice guitar playing all day (during that time they did not have internet or another entertainments like us, so they were completelly focused on their instruments). They are clear examples of talented musicians but also extremelly disciplined and perfectionist people. What an inspiration !!

En cuanto a tu pregunta de por qué los guitarristas flamencos suelen poner casi siempre el capotraste, es por varios motivos: primero que de esa manera las cuerdas quedan mas pegadas al diapasón, y así se consigue mayor velocidad y también un sonido mas flamenco, mas percusivo. Cuando los guitarristas tocan en solitario suelen colocarlo en el segundo o tercer traste, a no ser que se prefiera un sonido mas redondo, mas profundo según el palo que se va a tocar, entonces no se coloca. Y cuando se toca para acompañar al cante se coloca el capo segun el tono que te pida el cantaor, ya que cada palo tradicional requiere unas posiciones de acordes características, por ejemplo el acorde de tónica en la Soleá es Mi, con el bajo en la sexta cuerda al aire y las dos primeras cuerdas al aire a modo de dron, la Bulería se suele tocar en La con la fundamental en la quinta cuerda al aire, La Taranta en Fa#, etc...

Sabicas - "Encuentro con el Rock con Joe Beck". Fue el primero en fusionar flamenco con rock. (También Sabicas - "The soul of flamenco and the essence The rock"). Después de él,, llegaron todos, Paco de Lucia, Paco Cepero, Niño Miguel (Valls Flamenco [impresionante],Tomatito padre y Tomatito hijo,etc etc

Love how you enjoy spanish guitar....there are loads of incredible guitar players in Spain....you just have to put great spanish guitar players in google and see how many show up......anyway, there is other 2 you may enjoy.....Andres Segovia ( more clasical ) and Ramon Montoya ( flamenco ) he is from early 20 century......Happy New for you and family from Ibiza Spain !!

The more you know flamenco, the more you will love it. Sabicas was Paco’s reference. All this great masters and no so big masters don’t emerge from the conservatories, they learn from their masters, in their families, their villages….. Yo should know it in the flesh.
