I have this same bag except mine is a different color. I bought it for a trip to New York last year and it was a total game changer. Tons of room for clothes plus extra winter layers and my big heavy coat for when I didn’t need it on the airplane. The hip straps are a huge help in keeping the weight off of my shoulders. I didn’t feel fatigued at all walking around the city with this bag packed full. I will for sure be bringing it along with me to Germany this summer.

This is my third PacSafe bag now, and I am super happy with the EXP45 as my go-to carry on. You can feel the quality. I've used it for three week long trips now...Vegas, Mexico, and BC. I have had to pack it around fully loaded for several hours and it wasn't too hard on the back at all. Not the lightest bag, but well worth it for the security features. I am confident that it will keep pickpockets out when walking in crowds or standing in lineups. No problem fitting it in the overhead on the plane either. Locking and unlocking the security features becomes second nature after doing it a few times. If you're on the fence, do it. It's worth the price.

I own the EXP45 for 5 years, last month I saw it was on sale for half price on the official site (in Asia), and I instantly bought a second one (the Econyl version, bedrock color). Not that my old one was broken or anything, it was perfect. I just love the design so much I couldn't help but get a second one. I've been travelling a lot with this, and it gave me the peace of mind knowing I don't have to worry about pickpockets in crowded areas, especially in cities in Europe. This is the only bag that I carry, as I never check in my luggage. The size and weight is perfect for carry on. I have no problem carrying enough items for a two week trip.

Another well done review by you. I like your clear, calm and straightforward style. I have this particular backpack and enjoy using it very much for those trips where I need a bigger bag. It’s quite spacious and I find it to be very comfortable to wear as long as I don’t overpack it.

I just received an EXP45. It came with a locking cable, but sadly, there were no directions on the proper way to use it. It's a very nice bag and my first Pacsafe product.

You just run the cable around a physical object and put the loops of the cable through the lock bar on top of the bag. They have some pictures on the EXP45 product page.

2 questions: 1: Is this the Version 2 of the bag? 2: Does this bag have a slot to slide over a luggage handle to make it easier to move around thru the airPort etc with?
@OneBagTravels4 ай бұрын
I'm not sure which version it is, I don't they make it anymore though
@Bohemian05223 ай бұрын
yes they have a new version, I think it just came out earlier this year. Pasafe updated the appearance of its EXP45 a little bit, there is now a handle in the front , giving it a total of 3 handles on three sides. The front pocket also opens wider than the previous one. They also no longer include the standalone steel wire, instead, the shoulder strap (now reinforced with a steel wire inside) can now detach and lock onto some stationary object with its "pop and lock" system seen in some of their newer bags. Those are the major differences, other than that the EXP45 looks almost the same in appearance.
@Bohemian05223 ай бұрын
and to answer your 2nd question, the new version now features a slot to slide over a luggage handle as well.

Hi, thank you for the review. I have a question, do you feel that the 45L are real? Consider that only Minaal, Tom Bihn and Mystery Ranch show the real volume because they use the ASTM standardized method. Companies that don't use this method usually exaggerate their volume, for example the Osprey Farpoint 40 has been proven to hold as much as bags with 30L of REAL capacity. What do you think about this Package? 45L real or fake?
@OneBagTravels Жыл бұрын
I havent' tested the volume, but many bags just estimate the volume based on dimensions so I wouldn't be surprised if the capacity on this bag is lower than 45L.
@NoName-fx9zi Жыл бұрын
I don't know if 45L is technically legit, but I've packed enough stuff in mine for a 9-day trip to Scotland no problem. The zippers are so well built, over-stuffing is pretty easy without hardly any risk of tearing away.

Great review video! Question - what is the size of those Eagle Creek medium cubes? On the pacsafe web page it says the backpack is 35 cm wide and the latest Eagle Creek medium bags are 36 cm. Do you reckon they will still fit?
@OneBagTravels Жыл бұрын
They're 14" x 11" (36 x 28 cm), yeah, 1 cm isn't really much for a packing cube, they're pretty flexible

What would be your go to 40-55L backpack for longer term traveling (6months Asia) ?
@OneBagTravels2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't carry a 55L backpack. At that size it's just too heavy, if I was carrying that much I would just use rolling luggage. Even 45L pack can get pretty heavy. If you're planning on bringing a bag that big I would look into packs with good backpack straps, suspension systems, hip belts. These kind of packs are usually going to be backpacking style bags. I would recommend trying to get your gear into something smaller, like 35-45. Which should be doable in SEA since you don't need any bulky clothes. In that range I would look at the Aer Travel Pack, Cotopaxi Allpa, Evergoods CTB35, Knackpack, Osprey Fairview, or Peak Design Travel Backpack.

@@OneBagTravels But not this Pacsafe Venturesafe 45 ? How come?
@OneBagTravels2 жыл бұрын
@@user-in1zb4vg9r I think Pacsafe bags are great if you're concerned about safetym. I tend to not carry much of value, maybe an ereader, my phone, passport is about all I have that's difficult to replace. I prefer a smaller lighter pack and I don't think the extra weight of the security features on Pacsafe bags are worth it for the way I travel.
@Bohemian0522 Жыл бұрын
you have to consider the carry on limit as well. Some budget airlines have stricter rule and won't allow oversize bags. This EXP45 is below the upper limit of most airlines approved in cabin luggage. Anything bigger may not fit in the overhead bin.

Can this backpack be put on a trolley to move around? I didn't see any dedicated straps for it :(
@OneBagTravels Жыл бұрын
No, but I think it's much too large for that. A max size roller luggage will be around 45L, so attaching a 45L backpack to the handle I think would be a lot. You'd be much better off using a smaller personal item for that, for example the PacSafe Metrosafe has luggage sleeve and would work for this.

Pacsafe is a good brand, but they really got one thing wrong with the new “updates”. The lock on top of the bag screams I’m protecting valuables. The older styles had the locking mechanism on the side in a low profile location. I have had my pacsafe for 8 years now, and I love the older styles. The screaming locking mechanism on the very top was a deal breaker for me getting a new one.
@OneBagTravels2 жыл бұрын
Great point, the lock mechanism should be hidden so it doesn't look like you're trying to hide something.
@Bohemian0522 Жыл бұрын
that's why they have the flap to cover the lock at the top. I always use the flap to cover it.

A friend I met in Mexico has his camera stolen out of his pack on a bus. It was above him in the overhead, another passenger pretended to get something out of his bag nearby, reached into his bag and took his camera. He didn't realize it until after the guy was already gone.

The security is actually perfect for what it is. I can just lock the zippers and use a steel cable to attach the bag to a seat in a bus/plane/boat and go to the toilet without having to fear my seat neighbour having a look into my bag or some other stranger quickly passing and taking the whole bag like nothing happened. Also very useful in hostels. I used the security features daily while traveling the world.

can't take your words seriously if you "never use it". I've been using this bag for 5 years and I love it. There is a steel wire included with this bag, where you can attach it to the central lock and secure your bag in place. I've used it many times in hotels and hostels, I don't have to worry about pickpockets even if I leave the bag in hostels while I go out.
