I travelled all the way to north Hollywood to visit my sister I'm from Belfast northern Ireland and went to a bar in Santa Monica and Paddy Reilly was playing, wot a night he only needs a guitar and sometimes not even that, probably the best singer in the history of the world, he was at the bar having a drink on his own and I hadn't the nerve to go up and talk to him something I always regret that was 1979 , magical, thanks Paddy

I had the pleasure of seeing Paddy perform this song live in the Royal Arms hotel in Omagh in the early 1970s'. He was the support act to the Plattermen showband and and it left an indelible mark on me as it was so beautiful and moving. Lost one of our beautiful cats, called 'Cloudy' today, so I naturally gravitated to this very sad rendition and although the lyrics are about a human experience I still find it fitting to include and lament the loss of one of our fellow mortals. :( "Not the least hard thing to bear when they go from us, these quiet friends, is that they carry away with them so many years of our own lives". ღ
