As juniour golfers, we would spend ages messing around on the practice range with our chipping, including "vertical" flop shots. In a round, there would be at least one chip-in between us. Decades later I now have time to play regularly, but that short game skill has left me. I was looking at buying a set of wedges to replace my 30 year old ones, because "it must be these clubs :D". These drills make so much sense. I look forward to putting them into practice.

Ok Paddy, first, thank you for the great free tips - you don't have to do this, so it's so appreciated. The bounce info was 'light switching' (or 'ground breaking' would be more appropriate :) )! I have been struggling with trying to work the bounce on a tight lie, but I usually skull it with my 60/10. So I will not try to hit the ground first on my next round, and concentrate on ball first. I will also hit the ground ahead of the ball with my practice swings, since I wasn't doing that before. The other thing I picked up on was how the club head will return to the line of the sternum. This is going to reinforce my positioning and swing for every shot from now on. This year I've got my scores into the 90's consistently, so hoping to get into the 80's within a few months. 65 but still athletic from years of soccer! Thanks again from Vancouver, B.C.
@completeamateurgolfer3 жыл бұрын
I used your advice today on my practice swings and tried to brush the turf a few inches in front of where the ball would be and it really helped when I hit the ball - made good contact and travelled the distance (10-20 yd shots off medium lies). My mid iron game let me down today though... :)
@671james4 жыл бұрын
"I don't practice to use the bounce..." and "the bounce saves you" are the best ways to understand bounce for me. Thanks for this. The other "PGA pros" make great videos but an ACTUAL PGA Tour player giving coaching tips is probably the best ever! If I may make a suggestion, I (and probably your subscribers) would love to see the shots simultaneously from behind. Good luck and more power!

So thats what a bounce is! My irons dont have a bounce (I dont think so), so i have no way of the clubs 'forgiving me' if i strike the ground first.
