Those were pretty tame "hate" comments, and equally reasoned responses. Caustic internet comments can be a real pain for many KZbin channels. Thankfully the Pagoda team is a pretty fun and lighthearted group. So most comments share the love, and appreciate the occasional sarcasm, mistakes, and playful cuts for what they are. I am glad that you guys understand that most of the correction comments are meant to help and improve the channel and content. Hopefully you can try to just ignore the inevitable/occasional mean or angry comment. Parts of KZbin and the internet are very controversial, and I don't know any topic that everyone will agree on. Which will always show up in the comments. Keep up the great work!

I get the whole 'Sam from England' thing... when I was last in New York, a retail assistant asked me where I was from and I replied "the United Kingdom". My friend found it funny that I said it so formally, which TBF I would and do usually just say 'from the UK'.... Cos, I don't think it's just me? British people do tend to refer to our country as the UK more than they do as England/Britain.

Fwiw, It's people like John - ie Americans, or French people, who refer to the whole country as England, Angleterre etc. And the reason it bothers some people (not me) is Scottish, Welsh, N-Irish people are not English, and there's allot of nationalism around at the moment. It is different to Colorado, England and Scotland are really ancient kingdoms and countries, they aren't states shaped like a square xD

Since I found you, I got amazed that almost all your videos don't have any dislike! I love how you do the classes, they're really interesting and I love to watch and hear it as the variety of accents are good to hear to practice as a non-native speaker. In conclusion, avoid those comments. P.D. If anyone look forward to see the England flag on internet, it has a red cross in the middle and the rest is white! Even in some geographic videos, they use sort of balls representing the flags! I appreciate your videos! 🥰

Love these three. Beautifully verbal Chantelle has the hardest time representing a country with 11 official languages and a gazillion cultures; Sophisticated, feisty John has to represent over 300 million people in one of the biggest countries in the world; and Hilariously bubbly Sam representing several very different countries falling within the UK...and doing so with that awesome deep voice...oh, and some of us prefer the longer hair and unshaven look btw 😉.

I love you guys! I love Chantelle’s accent. It’s really easy to understand. I like John without the tie. But John, you are a little pale. Either it’s the lighting or you need a couple of days at the beach. And Sam, from the comments, lots of viewers think you are pretty hot with or without the five o’clock shadow. The problem with comments is that, without the sound, sometimes light-hearted banter can fall flat and seem bitchy when that wasn’t the intent. But that said, some commentators do seem a bit uptight. John’s tie attracts them, I guess. Plus being from a mixed background with English, Scottish, Irish and Cornish forebears, I didn’t have a problem with Sam describing himself as English. I have more of a problem with people calling an English accent ‘British’ like it’s the only one. Personally, my favourite British accent is Glasgow. But Sam’s is not too bad.
