Kind of a hot take maybe, but I never liked "CHARA" as the Canon name of the Fallen Human. I always saw Chara as just shorthand for "Character," meaning it was a placeholder name. The fact that you're expected to name the Fallen Human yourself -- ostensibly making them a stand in for YOU -- should make the whole ending of the Genocide run that more impactful. The Genocide path wasn't committed by some homicidal sociopath or malevolent demon; you did that. It's your fault. It was your soul and your determination. When "CHARA" speaks to you in the end, they aren't doing it as an actual character in the game. They are a reflection of you; that part of you that was okay with killing everyone in this game for no reason other than "I can, so I have to see what happens if I do."

I feel so bad for sans, he's pissed, emotional, hurt. He's trying to avenge his brother and protect everyone by standing with you in an endless loops and no turns. And the whole time she's calling him an asshole when she tossed the first knife (so to speak) If paparys was in san's place she'd praise him for that exact line. Hell his death isn't even the reason she cries it's the mention of his brother and not the implication that in his final moments he's seeing the person he loves most.
