This video shows the Paignton crossing on Torbay Road as far back as August 2008 when this crossing had Mk1 British Rail Western Region (BRWR) full barriers, halogen warning lights and no pedestrian lights.
The individual videos were filmed on a camcorder, which by this time are now over 12 years old, which is why there is such a difference in the video quality from what I usually upload. The photos were taken separately on a DSLR camera. The last photo shows the Britannia crossing near Kingswear which I have already filmed.
I hope you enjoy this rather archive footage which I finally found and decided to publish.

I love watching videos like this - very nostalgic and a refreshing reminder of what this level crossing used to look like, and the layout and set-up I'd often see in pictures of it when I was younger. August 2008, I was 8 lol. I wonder what it looks like now, maybe like any other double barriers crossings (LED lights with pedestrian lights and new barriers, maybe new alarms as well). Train-wise, while the 220 XC continues to run there, I wonder if the Pacers are still there as well, if not which class replace them? Great video and archive from these old times when the Covid wasn't even a thing...

Thank you 😎 The crossing looks very different now, after everything was upgraded in February 2012. I believe Great Western Railway no longer use the 142 or the 143 pacers. Class 150 and Class 158 trains probably operate down to Paignton instead. However, given the amended timetable due to Covid-19, this may be different.
