Hello, you may have less scapular retraction(shoulder blade moving backward) over that area during bench press and flys. Many people do have different amounts of strength on each shoulder. You may want to see a healthcare provider for correcting the misalignment of scapular position

Hello, if you have a lateral scapular winging, meaning your middle/lower traps are weak, your shoulder blade won’t be retracted (moving backward), the exercise would rather be activating your upper traps by elevating your shoulder. So the answer is no. Your back exercises will not help to correct your shoulder blade unless you isolate your exercises to middle/lower traps.

I’ve Ben dealing with this type of back pain for three months now been through physiotherapy ,massage, osteopathy and foam rolling with strengthening exercises I put ice and heat but nothing is working I want to get back to the gym I don’t know what to do .

I am very sorry that you are going through that. I won’t be able to find out your origin of pain until seeing you in person, but patients often have difficulties in activating middle and lower traps during exercises that targets those muscles, which ends up activating upper traps and that does not alleviate your symptoms. You can look for physical therapy that can assist your motion.

@@AllAboutRehab thanks for responding I appreciate it most creators don’t take the time to respond but you did so thank you but yeah when I try contract my middle traps it hurts on my upper so it’s weird and rotatation of the spine hurts so I’m lost I don’t know what to do just wanna get back to training
