Got pain between your shoulder blade and spine? It’s easy to think you need Rhomboid exercises to fix Rhomboid pain… but it’s much more likely to be coming from the rib joints (where the ribs connect to your spine) OR referred from your lower neck.
‘The 3 Essential Exercises EVERYONE Should Do’ …EXCLUSIVE video, only here: stefan-becker.mykajabi.com/3-...
GOT QUESTIONS? I answer questions here now: / bodyfixexercises
AND I’m developing a Coaching Program! Over 12 weeks, I help people with bad posture, and related issues like neck, shoulder, & upper back pain-discover their root problem and correct it using science-backed mobilising, stretching, & strengthening exercises. Find out more, and join the wait list here… stefan-becker.mykajabi.com/wa...
THE CAUSE OF SHOULDER BLADE PAIN...
Posture: Sitting or standing in a slouched posture position can cause joints to jam in the base of the neck and the rib joints, so improving you posture is the first step to stop this type of scapula pain or shoulder blade pain.
Sleeping position: Laying on your side with your shoulder pushed forward can jam the joints between our ribs and the spine, causing thoracic spine pain and muscle tightness over those rib joints. (The “costovertebral joints”)
Text Neck: Spinal joints at the base of the neck get jammed and irritated from forward head posture or looking down at mobile phones & laptops all day. This joint irritation can refer pain below that area causing mid back pain or upper back pain on one side.
HOW THESE EXERCISE FIX “RHOMBOID PAIN”…
Exercise 1.
The Towel Roll Technique loosens the joints between the ribs and the spine that can cause this type of rib pain. It also improves neck position, so the lower neck nerves don’t refer pain to the upper back.
Exercise 2.
The Thread The Needle exercises mobilises the costovertebral joints (rib joints) and gets blood flowing through the rhomboids and other scapula stabilisers. So, it’s great for costovertebral pain and Rhomboid rehab too!
Exercise 3.
A Thoracic Cat-Cow is great for mobilising the thoracic spine, rib joints and lower neck joints, so it's great for middle back pain relief.
Exercise 4.
Simple Side Bending with your arms up mobilise the spine and ribs in a different direction. This can be great to release those rib joints!
Exercise 5.
What I call a Chin Tuck PLUS is one of the best neck retraction exercises to improve posture that causes pain over the Rhomboid area. Protruding the chest increases the area of joints mobilised, but it’s great to strengthen important posture muscles too.

The same here. I wasn't even searching, but it recommended it to me. I haven't even searched anything similar in other websites. I didn't search/visit for any medication, exercises, physio, pain, etc... I didn't even know it was called the Rhomboid pain. Anyways here's my story. I've been very flexible with my shoulders throughout my life. I always sleep on my side for many years with no problem. 2 weeks ago, I was sleeping on my side and then I sneezed. It pulled my shoulder as I sneezed, I thought I dislocated my shoulder or ripped my shoulder blade of its muscles. Then the pain on my back spine and lower side neck began right away. I figured, it just needs some rest. It's been 2 weeks and I've noticed that the pain hasn't improved. This has never happened to me, asleep on my side sneezing, for the last 40years of my life, but only 2 weeks ago. It's been 2 weeks of pain and now I was contemplating of what I was going to do about it. See a doctor and get it x-ray. But then suddenly, saw it on my recommended on youtube. For the people who says this is merely an incident of "Coincidence", I have to discard that idea because coincidentally, they have never recommended random stuff to me like ballet dancing, coding programming, baking cakes, lizards, etc... All random things that has nothing to do with me. This is my first time on this channel. Thank you very much Stefan for the information.

I have had this pain for decades. I am a side sleeper and this pain would come and go. I thought it had something to do with my lungs at one time, but I breathe just fine. Now after seeing this video that I wasn't looking for, I know what it is. For me the pain would last a few days, to a week. For years my bad posture, looking down a my cellphone and being overweight didn't help either. I am doing better with daily exercise, and my posture is good. I also know that when I sleep with two pillows, It makes my neck and back hurt, so I stopped doing that all the time. The rhomboid muscle pain does make more sense, and now that I know what's causing it, I can do exercises that can help me!🙏💯🙏💯💯🙏💯💯🙏💯💯🙏💯🙏

In 2017 I had this pain in my shoulder blade, I was in prison so I couldn’t go to the chiropractor one day it was so severe I felt like crying. It would keep me awake at night, when I got out my wife who does remedial massage massaged it and done cupping on it, the cupping bought blood to the surface turning the skin purple and she told me that the blood isn’t flowing properly through the muscle and I had to see the chiropractor to adjust the bone back into place. A few cracks from the chiropractor and it was fixed, it felt so good instant relief.

After years of going to the doctors and not finding anything about the pain I was having this video is giving me hope. This is day1 of me trying to fix my back. My story is I have a knot like muscle in exactly where you pointed out (that’s the best way I can describe it) and to relieve the pain I pull down my neck and it crack and pops something in that area and it feels good. It’s like cracking your knuckles. The bad thing about it is now I have done it so much that my neck and upper spine are starting to hurt. I get severe headaches where I have to lay down on the floor. I can’t even work a regular job. I’m about to have a child in a couple of months and I want to get better for myself and for my child. This is day 1!! Pray for me and the other people having these problems!! I will also try to get better body postures.

Good on you, Arun. If it's hard to describe the location of the pain then it's much more likely to be referred pain from your lower neck. If it is something you've had for years it'll take a while to improve, but just stick with it. It'll get better and better! Check out the exercises on my "forward head posture" video too which should help. Thanks for commenting, Arun. Comments like yours make all the effort in making these videos worth while. Oh wow, as many have stated before me here, this video was recommended to me by the algorithm. I have struggled with pain in my upper back that has been increasing over the past few years. The therapists I've gone to doesn't seem to be listening to me, and they all give me some standard stuff i guess everyone gets, but nothing ever helped. I even stopped going to the gym for half a year because the therapists thought i was overworked.. I wasn't, it didn't help. I have however been open to them about everything, how i sleep, how i work out, how i sit and all, but i had this feeling after while that they weren't listening. What scared me the most about this video is that the sleeping position is exactly the one i use most of the time, because of sleep apnea, i sleep in recovery position with my knee out, this to ensure my airways are free, and i have been sleeping like this for years. And combined with the fact that the chair i use on my PC is a recliner which i suspected could be a culprit because i bought it just before my pain started, and it has this headrest that bends my neck forward. And to top it off, that neck stretch you do in this video, was something i discovered myself a few months ago, it was not taught to me by my therapists, i discovered it myself, and it helped me tremendously. I went from not being able to do dumbbell trap shrugs, to be able to do them over night. As i said, this video is almost scary how accurate it is. And you explained to me in a few seconds what my therapists haven't been able to do in years. And i didn't even search for this video.

@@BodyFixExercises Thanks! I have another problem as well that i haven't found a solution to yet. I have a Prolapse in L5. Over the past couple of years, as i mentioned, my back has become worse over time, actually both lower and upper. The cause can still be the chair, i don't know. My doctor suspects the prolapse has been there for a very long time, and might NOT be the cause of my lower back issues. I work as a bouncer, and i stand upright for 6-7 hours at work. And this causes immense pain in my back that starts after about 2-3 hours. By leaning backwards towards a wall with my legs about 20 degrees forwards, is a relief. The day after work, it feels like i have been run over by a tractor. I'm completely wasted in my back. And the pain sometimes moves upwards and over to my chest underneath my left arm, not downwards to my legs, which is usual with prolapse in lower back. You have any idea what can be the cause and/or exercises/stretches i can try out?

This pain comes from the neck not the shoulders. Been dealing with it for 40 years. Get a hard smooth ball…about the size of a golf ball… put it up against a wall (you don’t mind making indentations on) and with the opposite hand, to the triggers that are flared, put the ball between the wall and your body. Find the trigger spot(s) and lean back and push the ball into that trigger hard. Once you get the hang of it you can move the ball around slightly by moving your body. It’s going to hurt. Don’t fight the pain. Breath. Stop periodically and moving your head around to gently stretch your neck at every angle. Take deep breaths to release the stiffness and spasm. This has saved me from surgery and kept me functional.

Most side sleepers will benefit from these exercises even if you have a good position.
