Dan is spot on with this one. To achieve what he recommends get out of bed as soon as you wake up. This will stop your mind from trying to fight back. If you can't get out of bed because anxiety is crippling you, still get out of bed. If you are taking a nap during the day, and you feel anxiety coming on, get up from the couch. Always get up and do what you would do if you were not anxious.

A lot of people, including me, wake up with a spike in adrenaline and fast tachycardia. I wouldn't leap out of bed with this. I do some breathing to calm things down before I start moving. To start doing things just increases the tachycardia.
@IstvanDupai
@IstvanDupai 5 ай бұрын
@@kateking3953 Hmm. I have the adrenaline spike and accompanying symptoms, too, and you are right, I, too, start concentrating on my breathing first. But my symptoms only start lessening when I get moving, however slow. Getting out of bed with these crippling symptoms is extremely hard.

So this video is perfectly timed and you are speaking to me loud and clear today. I'd forgotten to keep practising the messages of safety and fear took control for the past 7 weeks. @@PainFreeYou- Dan, I know that the feeling of safety is paramount, but I’m not sure what to do to feel safe. There are so many new programs and tools that promise safety, such as vagus nerve exercises, somatic exercises, meditation. Breathing exercises, Wim Hoff exercises, etc. HELP!!! What do you think about all of those practices? Are we supposed to do all of those things? It’s very overwhelming now. I would love to hear your take on this. And, then can you tell me exactly how I am supposed to get my brain to feel safe? I Love your simple take on MindBody/TMS. Love you!!❤

@@robinelliott5561 If I thought those were the way to go, I would be recommending them. I find that my simple approach works when people accept that they aren't broken and consistently, calmly, confidently reassure themselves that they are safe. I map out may ideas in my fast start playlist. DansFastStart.com - the more you do to FIX yourself, the more your brain believes you must be "broken". You're not. This is TEACHING, not fixing.

Thank you as always Dan I know this will resonate with many, it did for me. I share this in the hope it might be of benefit to someone.This was the crucial key to unlocking pain for me. Once I realised sensations in the body (pain/anxiety) always followed fearful thoughts/thinking, I eventually knew I would have to face it. Previously (unconsciously) I had been resisting this & this resistance was actually giving a false legitimacy to the fear. I meditate & after realising this would need to be faced if i were ever to find peace, I invited it in & sat with it over as many weeks in meditation that were needed. I allowed it to be there. I accepted it. I stopped "running & avoiding"...after all that hadn't got me anywhere for 2 years!! Initially every cell of my being wanted to run. Thoughts bombarded the brain about it being a really bad idea, that it would take me over, I would get lost in it, blah, blah, blah (you know how it goes!)...but rather than my experience being divided into two parts-the actual experience in the moment, and my resistance to it-the feeling of resistance is now included as part of the present moment. As I allowed the resistance in, it started to soften and dissolve. Then I could be more open to whatever it is that I was resisting. I could allow it in, and began to accept the experience as it was. Was it easy. No!! Was it one of the hardest things I have ever done Yes! Was it worth it Absolutely!! Of course there were other stages that led me to this point. This journey has not been linear. But to be here now, living life again...maybe not fully open & free but on the way...is purely down to all the learning taken on board from Dan, meditation, support from communities such as this one & never giving up no matter what. I truly hope this may be of help to anyone out there on this path. Loving blessings to you all.💜

When I discovered Dan I was in very high anxiety-no physical pains but high anxiety. I started to talk to my brain for my anxiety -I was waking with Mr Anxiety, it was not pleasant but kept talking to my brain-saying I was not afraid, I was safe, I was going to have a wonderful day. My husband passed away and I kept talking to my brain that with all this going on-that I was okay. So glad I discovered this site-it works , believe me. Yes I am mourning my husband but continue telling myself I am OKAY. God Bless you all, reassure yourselves, relax, smile, it’s simple. 🥰 December 2024 follow up and I am still dealing with anxiety/depression as well. It’s hard to implement feelings of safety but continue to talk to my brain regardless, one day this brain will feel safe and stop sending me weird messages. Life continues---and I will get better.

If anxiety is experienced over a period of time the stress hormones can be the cause of many of the symptoms and sensations people experience. For a long time I tried to work with the pain that came from anxiety escalating. Finally realizing that it was coming from anxiety helped to shift my perspective to what was really causing all the sensations and pain. Somehow it became easier to let my whole body go loose and let go of thoughts, feelings, sensations.

Imagine the fear for not being sharp enough to do my work correctly.... And the fear that this insomnia will stay forever.... and... and... What do you do (not asking Dan here, although I’m thrilled if he chimes in) when you feel trapped in a routine? Like, if I stay on a set path that is a little gray and certainly not living large, I’m 70% symptoms free. But if I deviate at all, my brain perceives that I’m trying to “fix something” and a body freak out occurs. Interested in the group’s suggestions if there are any.

@kateking3953

It's also a deeply ingrained response to trauma, and often can't just be dismissed without deep work. There's fear, flight and freeze. These are the sympathetic automatic nervous system responses. It's not possible to just 'turn off' freeze that paralyses the entire individual with telling yourself it's okay. It takes insight, commitment and the acceptance that it's a process that may take a long time.

@kateking3953
@kateking3953 5 ай бұрын
@@PainFreeYou Hi Dan, I hope I didn't sound as if I was in any way disparaging what you do. I certainly wasn't. But I think there are different levels of anxiety and different levels of response, just as there are different sort of people, and for some telling the brain they're safe isn't believeable when they're frozen with terror at the front door. Phil Saucedo says he didn't heal with food because he didn't believe it. If you don't believe you're safe because your body is shaking and your legs are failing to hold you up, you don't believe it. Some people get well reading Dr Sarno, and some people will heal telling themselves they're safe But for some, understanding how they got there will start to unravel the problem. Both Phil and Angie, in your latest video, worked with practitioners in the first instance, who gave them emotional support and encouragement. Both had supportive partners. Both implemented nervous system regulation practices daily. Angie radically changed her diet, Phil returned to a normal eating pattern. What I'm saying is there isn't one size fits all, even if the reality is that brain retraining/neuroplasticity/messages of safety - whatever we call it - is going to look different, depending on the individual, their history, their psychology, their issue. I was reading some interesting research the other day that says that part of the brain involved in anxiety and depression is actually physically larger from birth in those who suffer with it. Other research points out that those whose visual imagination is very developed will be more liable to catastrophise. Nothing, for instance, in the world, would get me on one of those plank bridges with rope sides over gorges!!!!! So, sorry to go on and on, but I would suggest that messages of safety are great, but you have to believe them to heal. And sometimes it takes longer and more in depth work (whatever that looks like for different people) to get to that point. xx
