Honestly, I always avoided painting my nails because I am a sporty person, and malicious people used to joke about how my hands looked "manly". Last week, I was binge watching your channel and found the other nail polish video and gave it a try. Wasn't perfect by any means, but I've never felt so pretty and free in my life!! Thanks for the content, Matilda. Really wish I could hug you!! 💜

Ohh I wish I could hug *you* ! So thrilled you had such a positive painting experience, thank you for sharing! We look at our hands all the time so it's amazing how showing them a little bit of care can make such a difference to our confidence or sense of calm (former serious nail biter and short-nails-for-sport person here too). Would love to hear which polish made you feel so good? 😄❤️ x

Thank you so much!! We don't do things by halves in this house, so I wanted to go "bold". By recomendation of my grandma, I used Cherries in the snow, by revlon. At first I felt it was too much, but an hour later, I felt like a golden vintage queen 😂. It's such a pretty shade, and I fell in love with it, now I want it to be my signature. Every girl was asking about the colour! And of course, I let them know about you. You are the best option for us who are just beginning to get in touch with this part of ourselves. Once again, I love you. 💜 (excuse the poor english, it's not my first language 😂)

@@soulqueen8584 my aunt has a signature color, Revlon’s Totally Toffee. She has had it on non-stop for YEARS. She just keeps rebuying it, and it’s the only color she owns. It does look beautiful on her and she gets many compliments. I just can’t help being tempted to gift her Essie’s Angora Cardi one day and see what happens. I think she would like that one, too. 🙂

I tried because it seems like a nice girly pampering session that girls get together to do. The results were worse or similar to mine and I was risking my health with their unknown sanitation levels (the place looked pretty clean, fancy and professional though), and I spent money that could have bought 3+ good bottles of polishes😅.

I loved this style of video - so relaxing as I wind down for the day. I started doing my nails regularly a few years ago and it’s great self-care! Right now I have a Decorté polish on my nails, it’s the only formula I’ve ever tried that doesn’t chip. The ends wear away as the week goes on but it’s very subtle and feels lived in. I love Olive & June polish, too (so many fab colors!). The tip I took away from this video is cleaning up the edges before putting on the final clear coat✨💕✨ can’t wait for the next one!

NK H, if the ends are wearing away, then you need to "wrap" the end/tip of your nails with a coat of polish at the end of application. This will ensure the polish won't shrink and start chipping.
@beauty_enthusiast2 жыл бұрын
@@violetviolet888 oh yes! I do this but home manicures never last much more than a week to ten days. The Decorté polishes in my experience don’t chip:)

That's known as 'capping', I'm planning to talk about it in my updated tutorial in future Violet! It's not something I personally like / need to do to get long lasting results, but some people do benefit from sealing the tips of their nails with a quick swipe of polish (on the second to last coat of colour, while each nail is still wet) 👍 x

It's a great idea to use a lint free wipe with acetone or isopropyl alcohol, anything of that nature, to wipe the neck of the polish bottle after every use so that it doesn't dry and crust up and thus prevent the bottle from properly sealing and drying your polish out! Plus I feel it makes my application go smoother. But I love this and I am loving your tip of also leaving a gap on the sides! :)

Hey Matilda, loved this video, it was so relaxing! Since I found your mani tutorial 2 years ago, my nails have never *not* had a flick of colour on them! I’ve currently got on ‘Dive Right In’ by Rimmel London. Super summery shade for the shorter, warmer days we’re having in London right now!

Ayy I saw this video mid-painting my nails! You put me onto Essie nail polishes especially Ballet Slippers, Sew Me and Fairy Taylor! I have a genetic condition that makes my nails grow deformed, and I have lifelong Body-Focussed Repetitive Behaviours including nail biting/picking, so my nails have been a source of insecurity all my life. I was painting my nails with a couple coats but it would chip within three days and then I'd start picking again. But just in the last few weeks I've started painting my nails with four coats- three layers of colour plus a top coat, and it stays intact for about a week and it subconsciously stops me from meddling with them! So for the first time in my entire life, I have white ends to most of my nails and I can use them to scratch!

Hi Matilda! I love your content! I was wondering if you find a significant difference in the Chanel & Dior vs the Essie price point nail polishes. Are the higher end worth the price?
@matildaonvideo2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! To be honest, I usually get the best results (ie. longer lasting manicures) from Olive & June and Essie which are both 'drugstore' prices at $9 USD a bottle. I just love Chanel and Dior's shade ranges so I'll splurge on them sometimes! 💅 x

So I’ve spent the last 2 days trying to paint my nails and I’ve hated every moment of it cause they’re uneven, streak and an ugly mess and I hate waiting for them to dry. I went from getting acrylics to growing my nails out to strengthen them and paint my own nails BUT after watching, I think my biggest mistake is a lack of base coat and buff. I’ve been using a new bottle of Essie and it’s so streaky so I’ll try that and if all else fails, I’m just gonna run down to the salon and get them to paint it and sit in front of the tiny fan 😂

I completely gave up on my nails a few years ago and threw away all my polishes. My hands look good only for a very short time because I do house chores and I cannot stand even the smallest imperfection...so I just remove it. On top of this my nails are small, square and grow "upwards" in a weird way, so I always keep them very short. But after watching this...daaaamn I want to buy a couple colors😂😂😂

Thanks for watching Patricia! Don't worry, practice makes perfect 😄👍 I'll share some more shaping tips in my updated tutorial soon, but I think shaping with your previous polish on is a great tip via Olive & June. I find it really helpful because the white tips of our nails are always uneven, so the polish gives me a better starting point to try to shape them neatly x
