Good evening, close to 15 years now and about a thousand video's, there's always stuff to talk about, and since my son Jason works with me and knows how to film and post, it works for us.👨🏻🔬

Kirk, I have a video request or if you already have one please let me know! How should you seal screws in stucco? We are changing our gutter configuration and need to screw the gutter supports in new locations. I know it’s a basic question, but the gutter people in my area rarely work on stucco. Thanks!!
Hey Kirk & Co, I love your work. Question about stucco over paper. I'm just trying to get my head around how the water runs down into the weep screed. Obviously, once the moisture penetrates the stucco, it hits the paper. I'm just trying to understand how does that water run down rather than being trapped? I have a friend who has built an aircrete dome. She stucco'd straight over the aircrete with stucco mesh. In such an application paper should be used? Sorry for all the questions. I'll keep looking through your vids as I know the answers are probably buried in them but any advice would be appreciated. Your guys are awesome.

The water will spread and dry I believe. It doesn’t hit anything that will cause damage or mold.
@StuccoPlastering Жыл бұрын
Howdy, good question, I have not stuccoed over an Aircrete Dome, however, about 30 years ago, we did stucco over a round type of wood home. We used a rubber material called "Ice and water shield" for the waterproof membrane. Then attached stucco netting and plastered it. The moister can't get trapped because of gravity. Gravity will always allow the rain if it penetrates to fall toward the earth where the weep or drip screeds are installed. And being that the metal screeds go on the bottom or on the "Mud Sill" first, with all stucco applications, the membrane whether or not paper, or rubber has to cover the face of these weep screeds while the bottom is open or has holes to allow moisture to exit. 🕵🏼

Wouldn't a heavier sand make it closer to the original finish before it was painted ?
@StuccoPlastering Жыл бұрын
The original fini is a dash, that's stucco that's been thrown on with a dashbrush. A heavier sand won't create a dash Look. But a dash that has say 14 layers of paint as this wall does will soften the dash look a bit, allowing one who knows finishes to apply a two coat finish which can be sponge floated to match many different textures.👨🏻🔬

Thanks. Was just wondering

Howdy Kirk! Would love to see a video on matching a maintenance free non painted stucco finish, I have a cat face/montalvo maintenance free finish and I never see that anywhere 🙃
@StuccoPlastering Жыл бұрын
Type the name in our channel, I explain cat faces, but it's really just a Santa Barbara smooth finish where one misses a few areas when applying the second finish, 🕵️♂️

We could have shown applying both coats but that would have made it an hour long and required a tripod. Who wants to watch for that amount of time and listen to me rambling at the same time.😉

You don't necessarily have to talk, many on this channel are ' learn by watching ' types. You show them once and off they go and work on their skillset. I agree this could have been longer. But I certainly get your point that you are making on the " float heavier sand to achieve the correct match, once painted look."@@StuccoPlastering
