I’m always fascinated by your process of painting. I’ve learned a lot about my limited gouache palette this month! I have been a little discouraged that I often use the gouache as watercolor. But I noticed you have areas in your paintings that seem to look like that as well. I need to embrace that less is more concept. But happy to see I’m having positive growth!! 😊 thank you for the sharing and encouragement you give us! This was a relaxing and very beautiful video!!

Loved seeing your Plein Airpril review of the last couple of weeks. Such incredible skies… especially at the beginning when it was bright blue on one side and stormy on the other 😮. I'm really looking forward to seeing how your palette is evolving. I've just picked a few new colors of gouache to fill my 16 palette, so now I'm playing with different mixes. Winsor and Newton is the easiest gouache for me to get here but I don't find their printed color chart very accurate when trying to pick new colors. I've ended up finding it easier to see other people's color choices and the mixes they can get and then working from there, so your KZbin channel and blog are very useful resources to me.

Your videos are as creatively beautiful as your paintings ... lovely pace and letting the story unfold along with the visual beauty - thank you! . I am finishing pleinairpril also, but my first go and I am a very new watercolor/sketch person. Despite posting some awful paintings, I painted everyday and posted all but the top of one painting. I also plan on painting everyday but some/many might be practicing brush strokes, water control or other techniques. The challenge helped me with the habit as well as painting from real life. If not for the challenge, I might have given up on plein air ... it was challenging and I adjusted my kit through the month as well as where and what I painted. But now I am hooked ... although I will be a fair weather plein air painter I think! . Seeing you posts as well as the videos was inspirational to me through the month.

Wow, that landscape…. Unbelievable! I really understand why you have so much inspiration. I live in Germany😔, and well, in the south we also have very nice spots but here near big towns…., there is no forest only fields and no single waterfall or mountain. Therefore I really enjoy seeing the view you have (almost) directly nearby. The weather in this April is also …😣… here, grey skies, wind, rain, coldness…., but today we have a lot of sunshine. I am wondering if small children paint skies in grey meanwhile…. One question: do you still use acrylic gouache as underpainting for example? A few years ago you thought about doing that but up to now I have not found a later video where you mention it. Your cats are soooo cute. I also have two🥰. And I have a dog, so no matter what the weather brings, I have to go outside. And that is good, as I don’t think I have your strength to leave the house without him. Let’s dream of a nice summer with a lot of sunshine. Thanks again for taking us with you…..I learn so much💕 Oh I am looking forward to you sketchbook video. And YES, I enjoy!!!!

Great video! Beautiful scenery, absolutely stunning and the kind of thing that is uncommon and can only be found in Scotland. Also the bit of sketching and especially the gouache paintings that you did fit in were lovely to see. You have some real talent so don’t give up. Hang in there and keep up with the painting- that’s the most important thing. Time goes by & before you know it you’re 63 like me! I just got back into painting & finally I’ve forced in a minimum one hour a day. Once you’re at that daily practice for like a month, it seems that your skills improve and things get easier, and your paintings are starting to show the skill. Feels good, doesn’t it??? BTW, I jump into your other KZbin channel once in a while to see what’s going on. Same high-quality videos. Thank you for sharing a piece of yourself, which cannot be easy. I look forward to seeing your flip through and new supply favorites. I will be needing a brush set for gouache & will check your site for recommendations. I have a ton of WC brushes tho. (Love the new puddy-cat!) Bye for now👋

When you were driving down the road, there were fields of crops with bright yellow flowers… is that English mustard ??……or was it possibly canola? It’s interesting because in eastern Washington ..they grow a lot of canola for first harvests..and the fields are just bright yellow like that. Hi, Ive been looking into making a sketchbook for my drawing but also wanted to try gouache and maybe save the pages for some years in the future (roughing out some future projects to work on). I was wondering between paper weights, if gouache could stand being on lighter paper weights like 80lbs (118gsm) or 90/95lbs (145/160gsm), as I was going to use Strathmore 400 toned Tan sketch paper pads to make some journals/binders since they come in 50 pages at a resonable price. The heavier papers like Drawing, Mixed Media, or Bristol only come in pads of 24 for the same price but I'm fine with mixing and matching paper typed if I have to. Thank you for your time and thank you for all the womdeful in depth information and examples about gouache!
