Another interesting point. If you understand processes and best practice it takes just as long to do it once and get a show quality finish as to fix mistakes twice! That's where the expression 80% done only 50% more comes into play.

I should add.....my first little boat I built last year during Covid was not a major success but my mates in the dinghy cruising association said " you learn more from your failures than your triumphs" and they are right. I am now building a boat which will be successful and with new found skills that I would not have if I didn't make all the mistakes. So I totally get the journey you went on there. If you haven't been watching Tips from a Shipwright you have been missing out on a really great resource. Lou is a no fluff do it right with the tools you have kind of guy. Truly simple methods but if it needs to be right it is about prep not the tools. He is also very good about supporting folks. A few of the channels I watch have at one time or another mentioned his help. Glad you guys are able to take a break and regroup. Teamwork and especially teamwork when you are in a relationship is so hard to manage but the rewards of figuring it out together and seeing the job as "ours" to do and seeing it done no matter what that is something! Thanks for keeping your sights on the important thing, each other!

Troy you are one lucky man to have Pascale by you side. Great job that needed you both to complete 👏 My wife will help out on the boat but refuses on some jobs she feels are beyond her skil base. On my last boat i done the brush and tip method with my dad and was amazed at the results. Throughout the years I have had jobs go bad causing the work to have to be redone. Backing up and regrouping and having to do it all over to make it right is tough sometimes. You two were outstanding! The frustration was evident...but so was the satisfaction of over coming the problem. That feeling can't be beat. Thanks for sharing, Mirrool looks outstanding. Thanks for posting guys! I’ve just spent the last six weeks in Tasmanian waters and I wondered on more than one occasion whereabouts you were. We arrived in Tasmanian waters in late December and managed a full anti-clockwise circumnavigation. Our passage down the West coast was incredible! 25-40 knot Nor’Easterlies and the temperature was in the high twenties! It soon changed dramatically when we reached Port Davey and I am so fortunate to have seen that part of the world in those conditions. Looking forward to catching your upcoming episodes guys and seeing the lovely lady in all her glory!

Your boat looks freaking awesome. I know when I take that special care on certain jobs I thoroughly enjoy the result even more. The perfect example is the railings on the front stoop. I looked for about two weeks for the best stuff for the money. I ordered the stuff. It took me loads of extra time to place the posts properly I measured easy 10 times to make sure things were in the right place. After all I didn't want to rune the brand new stoop with a bunch of wholes. So long story short every time I pull into the driveway I am happy to look at my work. I know that is your thinking as well. Great job as always.

There is something to say about doing a good job regardless of who knows, you know and that counts. I work wood and I strive to make the joint the best possible I can do. No one will ever see the joint (unless it's sawn apart) but I know...and that is what counts. I admired your effort.

Watching Pascy upset had me wanting to jump on a plane and come help sand it back with you. I too had a 2 part paint mishap and it was very frustrating. My "Lil'Squirt" is not as pretty as Mirool but she's as good as I could provide being my first time painting in the hot Texas sun. That one digit gets me every time. Mads at S/V Sail Life used a new paint that is rolled n tipped. He was happy with the finish. If he was happy... You guys put your heart and soul into this refit...and it shows. She’s looking great, inside and out.

I painted the topsides of my boat & found it very important to have the humidity between 50 & 75%. I can't stress that too much. When i rolled it i rolled it perpendicular to the right, then tipped it perpendicular to the left. To tip it i used foam brushes. Your boat looks great, good job. ANY paint job to look good depends on the preparation, preparation, preparation.
