A painting video showing the straightforward way I go about painting the Warlord Games Prussian Landwehr set. While this may not be 100% historically accurate, I feel it gives a good enough impression to allow a battalion to be painted quickly.

That roll around the soldier’s is called a bed roll or blanket roll . The soldiers would carry there personal stuff in it when on light marching order.
@7thson726
@7thson726 4 жыл бұрын
Bedroll! Thankyou!! 😀 I couldn't bloody think of the word. I also read that it was useful protection in melee as it would help against bayonet thrusts and slashes from sabres 👍

True story here. While working on the TV mini series North and South book 2. I was an extra in the filming. They used a lot of reenactors for that show. We were getting ready to attack Fort Stedman I believe in the show when I decided to wear my bed roll when we charge the fort. When the armies charged during the American Civil War the front rank would go to charge bayonet or a port arms.The rear rank would go to the right shoulder shift and keep their Bayonets high in the air. As we were running across the field during the filming the guy in front of me in the front rank took a hit and his rifle fell to the ground butt first. The rifle fell backwards with a fixed bayonet which pierced my bed roll right center of my chest. As we were at the double quick the bayonet went into my bed roll and slid up toward my shoulder needless to say it stopped me in my tracks. Had I not had my bedroll on I dread to think what may have happened to me.

I Use PVA glue for the bases .Works for MDF and plastic renedra's . The figures don't come off and will pop off when ever the day you need to change . Another glue is Helmar 450 sticky glue . Go get LeadBears Tufts they are self sticking plus cheaper 120 @$10AUD

Thanks for the tutorial, I was thinking about buying contrast paints for some time and I finally decided to do it thanks to you. Not only do they give nice detail to the figure (which is very important for me) but also make the painting process much faster which allows me to get them ready on the table in no time (which is also very important for me since before I managed to finish only 2 minis in an hour and do at least 4 a day). Since I'll be also doing a Landwehr set soon, I can say that this was pretty helpful, about the historical accuracy thing you talked about: I can say that the only slight inaccuracy you made was having men with feldmutzes or fatigue caps alongside men with British supplied stovepipe shakos which were mainly given to reserve regiments but were also briefly worn by Westphalian Landwehr in 1815 and the regiment you painted which was, judging by the cuffs and collar, The Kurmark-Neumark Landwehr wore only feldmutzes just like the other Landwehr regiments raised in 1813 in the eastern parts of Prussia (Silesia, Pomerania, East Prussia etc.) but besides that, I don't see any other inaccuracies of higher importance so I think it's good in that aspect. Anyway, great paint job and I hope you do more Napoleonics in the future.

The wrap is the rolled greatcoat, it was worn over the shoulder for ease of carry but it would also provide some defence against sabres strikes.
