Painting Tamiya's 1/48 P-38 Part 2

In this exciting episode, I finish up the P-38 by painting some of the decals, do some post shading, and add some bare metal foil.

I really like the artwork on the stand. It fully captures the 1940's look. I built this model about a year ago and remember sticking about 100 micro decals on the model. Some so small I could hardly see them with my magnifying glasses. It seems as if you didn't bother with them, but I think your model looks cleaner for omitting them. All in all, I really like the overall look of your model

A couple of years ago I got my wife a Cricut. I couldn’t justify spending that much for the little I’d use it, but I figured she’d love it. It’s worked out as I’d planned. She uses it 90% and I use it 10%.

Another great job. What I like about your videos is that you explain your techniques really clearly which somehow makes them very accessible of that's the right word. When you pose your propellor aircraft in flight, have you thought about removing he prop blades altogether and leaving just the bosses in place? Maybe with a shadow line airbrushed aroud the circumference where the blades would normally be? I've seen it done several times and have tried it myself and the effect is really good...very convincing and much more realistic than the clear acrylic disks we often see.

Your work is always the best. Can I ask what paint you used for the olive drab? Tamiya olive drab seems too dark and too green,would really appreciate help with finding a good paint or formula to use.

Perfect! Even the framing of the canopy is great! 👏👏👏 the only thing - the canopy itself is a little bit overdone. In WW2 there was no such crystal clear plexiglass :)

I feel more comfortable funding my hobby thru eBay model sales. I’m not sure what you mean by RL. I’m starting on a 1/32 trumpeter P-47 for a customer but I’m not sure I’ll record any of it. It looks like it’s gonna be a bi*ch so recording will just make it a much harder and longer build.

@@romulusmare I don't think Eduard do a 1/32 P 47. However they did they rebox a Hasegawa one. The Trumpeter kit, although it has its issues is more detailed than the Hasegawa one notbably with regards to rivets.

Thanks! I don’t have any for sale at the moment. I normally get them out the door as soon as I’m done building them. That B-17 while a cool build, was probably the last one I’ll ever do. Not that it was a bad kit but it was a big project that took more time than I want to spend on building a model.
