Great video, Matt. A thought: the level of engineering and fit that more and more manufacturers are getting, is really doing some great things for us modelers. However, the one area they just can't seem to figure out is decals. Why, oh why, are we still having to deal with over thick decals with a hideous border of carrier film? One would think that with the awesome progress in other aspects of models in general, someone would have overcome a challenge we've been dealing with for as long as waterslide decals have been a thing.

I'm working on this kit in parallel and just did the decals in the radiator housing. Two of them cracked so, yeah, Tamiya is God's gift to modeler's but their decals just plain suck. 8-)

GREAT series, Kevin (did I get the name correct?). I have 3 of these on the shelf and watching this series has resulted in one being pulled down in preparation to build the next few months. One question for you. Have you done any videos of the equipment you use to build? This like brushes, files, sanding, etc. I would enjoy learning with you use day to day.

Watched the vid twice beginning to end man the work on the battery compartment and the supercharges made me looking for the paints..no luck downunder but I will mix and match. Covid Sucks supply is down

@@semersemer2293 fine. I don't really use EZ for much else these days since I don't like the square cross-section, but for cabling it pulls it off pretty well, even if it's a huge pain to work with.

The kit parts are rather good - I don't really see a need to replace them, especially if it risks throwing off the exquisite fit.

Matt, could you expand on your statement about Tamiya extra thin cement and "live" paint? I'm not sure what you mean.

TET is made up of the exact same stuff as Tamiya airbrush cleaner (acetone and butyl acetate) and eats paint for breakfast. So putting it on live paint (or...paint that's been applied) is a bit dangerous since if you go too hard, you're going to dissolve said paint.

Matt, how did you discover pink was a good undercoat for yellow? You seem to have deep understanding of color theory so I am wondering does that come from training, the day job or unbridled curiosity and experimentation?

Honestly I don't know where I picked it up - saw it mentioned somewhere before (kinda like putting yellow under red). Can't point to any training, alas. I'm a writer by day.

Hi Matt, maybe silly, but is there a difference between the Gunze PS-770 and the PS-771, please? Myself I use an H&S CR+, a PS-270, a Sparmax and a cheap chinese thing for the clear coats but I'm fascinated by the Gunze PS-770 series. And as always a great video, thank you so much to share your knowledge with us!

The 771 is shiny. That's the only difference as far as I can tell.

Grafix Incredible White Mask. I like it because it comes up super easy - which can't be said for all liquid masks.

do you have 20 airbrushes or i am sure it takes ages to clean out after each paint change

The magic of editing! I have several airbrushes, but only 3/4 that I use consistently. Gunze PS-290 for big stuff like primers, PS-267 as a workhorse, and PS-771 for detail work and spraying small. I also use a 770 alongside the 771, but it's in bad need of a full strip clean and I just haven't gotten to it yet.

Matt, where in the world do you find your LP-11? No local stores carry the Tamiya lacquers and I can't seem to find it online. I need it for my P-51 wings.
