Great! Keep at it and it will come Kent. It never gets easy. There’s always some challenge working to get a good blend. The videos sometimes make it look easier than it really is.

Tom I had the pleasure of going to Lenard Rousseau’s house yesterday , he lives 15 miles away from me in eureka Calif . He said he knows you and you have judged some of his bird . I was there for 3 hrs talking about 4 birds I took to his studio. Amazing person and tried to show me his way of carving . He is working on a beautiful carving for world competition in April . There is so much I have to learn , I thought I knew it all until I met Lenard and hole new way of carving and burning . I told him that I watch your videos and they have been very helpful .if you could do a video on burning and feather splits ,would be very helpful to your viewers .

Leonard is a great guy and a great World Champion carver and painter. He is a great choice to be learning carving techniques from. I don’t do any burning on the carvings I make so I can’t be very helpful with those techniques Greg.

Do you have a preferred Clearcoat for the paint?
@tomchristieart11 ай бұрын
I use Testor’s DullCote on my carvings Ashen. I don’t know if that is the best choice for the wear and tear in the field but it has always been my go-to clear coat over acrylic.

@@tomchristieart thanks Tom! I used that (I think). I had a bunch of bufflehead I made but there was such a long time between me carving painting and clearcoating them I'm questioning if i ever coated them. The acrylic didn't deal well in the salt. Was gonna touch them up and re clear coat
