for future painters. use a wax grease remover(you can also use dawn soap on small pieces prior also) to clean, dry well, use adhesion promoter, then paint.

Leather dye is meant to be used on raw leather that has never had a protectant applied to the surface. The leather on your seat is already dyed, as well as having a protective layer of sealant applied to the surface to prevent liquids from being absorbed into the leather. This is why that dye won't be doing anything unless it is applied to areas where the protective layer has worn off. Usually, when seats are being dyed a second time, a very fine sander is used to remove a VERY fine layer of the leather's top-coat. This allows the dye to penetrate the leather.

DAMN, that does look great!!! I have G37 coupe. My interior came black, except for the headliner....which was tan too. I didn't like it. So I sueded mine and added starry nights. But the seatbelt extender was tan, and I couldn't take out because the seatbelts were going through it. So you can do like I did. Which was to paint that part with a brush. Take your time and it'll come out fine like the rest of your interior..

Renaldo Hicks Use some sort of clear coat for the trim pieces and plastics to protect them because they will scratch and chip very easily without it. And for the seats , you’ll notice that after people sit on it it will great creases on the leathers sort of like cracks that are tan , after some time you can reapply the leather paint on it again to fill in those cracks. SteezyJ yea, i did about 3 or more cans on my dash and literally everyone thinks its oem until i tell em i dyed it, it holds up real strong ive tried to scratch it ad have laid things on it, holds real good as long as you paint it properly and letting it dry good between coats. Now speaking on the seats, i used it on a 2006 rsx front seat, it went from tan to black and it held up REALLY well with some serious use and constant gettig in and out and throwing myself in the seat. It did start to show stress cracks in the paint but it looked like a normal black seat with wear and tear. Same as the dash you need to put enough coats and let it have enough time in between coats to completely dry for perfect results. Using the leather cleaner you used is a smart idea and helps with adhesion. Overall if you cant find black or need to either repair or just save $ id recommend it💯

So, I had my doubts when i saw the title of this video....but damn did that come out really well! I’ve been tempted about buying some interior pieces in black color, to do a whole swap conversion, but hell, I may just go this route. Even the leather seats came out awesome. I actually love Tan Interior I don't like Black or Gray Interior but my 07 Camry has all Gray Interior cause the Exterior color is Gray my 97 Accord has Tan Leather seats and Interior I'm keeping the Interior Tan the only downfall to a Tan Interior is that they tend to get dirty and stained very easily

I sold my 07 G35’coupe that I painted using spray can paint for leather. I lightly sanded with 1,200 between every 4 lights Coats, (5 times I sanded with 1,200) 20 base coats total!! acrylic matter clear (12 coats) 3000 grit sand between 6 coats of clear. (So 1 time 3000 grit sanding after 6 light clear coats) After 48 hours of drying process(small fan in ventilated Room blowing on the front and back seats) I used a kangaroo leather conditioner that has no artificial coloring or smells from roomstogo and I buffed in the conditioner with a 6” multi directional buffer with soft polishing disk.. I did that for 3 coats then I sprayed all the seats with got 2 b glued hairspray and again let the fan go at it for 48 hours... I still see the g I sold 4 years later constant daily driving and it’s still looks when it did when I did it. No cracking or peeling... it even extended the life Of the leather because if I Left it as is without doing this it would’ve been ripped up!

How are the seats holding up? I been doing research and they say not to use dupli color on leather. They say is ruins the leather cracks and peals. A lot of people say colorbond is better because it’s fords oem spec paint. But idk... ya let me know.

Ugh! I can’t believe you did that to your leather. I gotta admit though it looks amazing! To dye the leather red would have been the best long term solution as I suspect the vinyl spray is going to crack and peel thanks to the Arizona sun and heat.

My project consists of only converting the tan plastics to black, as I'll be reupholstering the seats, door cards, etc. I would really prefer to buy all the adhesion promoter and paint at the same time and finishing the project in a day, rather than running back and forth between stores and my garage, stockpiling cans.
