In today’s video I do some painting with Summit Racing R500 LVLP spray gun and show you how I blend and clear a 2021 Chevy Traverse and get a beautiful factory finish out of a cheap affordable spray gun that you can use at home in your garage with a small compressor.

Hey UPK, another very helpful and informative video as always! Is it better to leave blending to experienced car painters or do you think novices can get good results? I would be blending a dark red metallic paint on a Mustang.

I think a beginner painter can blend paint, you just want to have a good brand that matches well to the original paint. It really depends on what has to be done on how you go about doing your blend and different painters have different techniques. I would suggest first doing some spray outs to make sure your paint is a fairly good match which will make the blend easier

Another great video, sir! I'm purchasing my first LVLP spray gun this week. I have a Central Pneumatic 21 Gallon (Model 94667). Between the Summit Racing LVLP and the SprayIt you use on other paint job, which would you recommend for a complete job. I'll be shooting primer, base and clear.

Looks great do you determine the speed at which you move your strokes my how the paint accumulates on the panel or just a set pace and just worry about coverage on the consecutive coats?

I have one of those guns it is the same as the spray it...33000.....But I dont use it much anymore because the fan is a bit narrow and not as fine spraying as the HF HTE spectrum. Better pot and better gun. Little finer spray. Uses little air like the gun your using. The only advantage to the Spray IT LVLP is a little less overspray. But not enough to be worth the less finer spray. Balancing act.

i bought both the spray it and the summit gun based on your reviews. i paint cabinetry and the gun works great. what are you using for the filter and the pressure regulator on the gun? Should those be higher end? i bought mine fairly cheap at Princess Auto which is effectively the Canadian version of Harbor Freight.

To be honest I use the filters and regulators from Harbor Freight and they work fine but you can spend a little more money on the regulator for better longevity especially if you plan on doing a lot of work with it…I appreciate you B T for checking out the videos!

Gonna start using high solids clear never used it before but a one that doesn't have but very little to no shrinkage on the clear . I saw Grant 7 clear was really good but haven't used any Nason clear just Speedkote and the 5 Star Extreme Clear from the Paint For Cars site get basecoat Starfire paint on too. Just don't want to be overpaying for a paint when I can get one cheaper and as good for a lower price. I saw the Paint For Cars site high solids clear never tried it but it was like 216 for a gallon I didn't see a video on KZbin of nobody trying it though. I looked at the Speedkote guys videos a lot but the store I went to last year to get sealer had Nason sealer got the flat black just started going there Auto Value last year they got a good amount of paint products though I bought a Goodyear air hose there think it was 50 foot. I been buying paint online though. Have a Chevy Malibu now wanna paint it purple but it has stuff wrong with it and my dad said it not worth fixing used to be my brothers will use it for practice painting then. I rather just get a warranty and get it fixed then get insurance and get it registered to drive it. It is black so would like to use a black sealer 2k on it and paint it purple with a high solids clear.

@@UndergroundPaintKing I just looked at the 5 Star Etreme high solids glamour clear I just used one of their other clears buy this one looks great on the video I saw but the shrinkage on it don't know about that though. I saw the Grant 7 barely had any shrinkage over two weeks on a Pharraway video on KZbin when he was comparing high solids clears. Looks great to me! Im gonna have to pick up an lvlp gun?! GM orange peel ain't bad, Chrysler's have minimal paint & peel that chips really bad and Ford is the worst peel on a factory car.

Great job bro! So as compared to a hvlp it looks like your technique is to run the gun closer to the surface (looks like your 4"-6" away) and make tighter overlap with your passes (it looks like you only move up around 25%). Is that about right? One thing I like about lvlp is theres very very minimal overspray and can use a small compressor....it would probably be great for mobile work.

I sprayed my nova with that spray gun….only changed the tip sizes when I went to the clear coat
