The lights sound lovely. Paiste seem to have the affordable pro cymbal game down now.

I've played them in a few shops around town,the HH and crashes are OK,the rides leave me going meh. I still think for the $$ ,the Sabian XS series is the best as a pro level entry "budget" line.
@claystaggs89084 жыл бұрын
Cpu554 I agree I have the xsrs 14" hats 10" splash 20" ride and 14,16,17,18 crash and they are an affordable pro level cymbal best made in my opinion

Please hit harder you are barely getting a sound from the cymbals ecspecially the heavy cymbals you are just tapping them come on put some effort into it!! Never the less good quality vid...

They may look like 2002's but I had a medium set of these and returned them. They still have that brassy 'beginner' cymbal sound, and absolutely the worst ride bell I've ever heard. They're lower line PST blanks stamped out and lathed like the 2002's and the underside of each bell is not lathed at all which probably doesn't help the sound of them. They're definitely not 2002's, don't let any drum shop on KZbin tell you otherwise by saying "They sound almost identical" because they don't. They sound like a typical entry-level cymbal set with 2002 looks. NOW they do look almost identical with the rich shade of gold and red silk screen.....if you were seeing these on someone's setup from a distance you couldn't tell them from the 2002's by looking unless you went up too them and seen the top PST 7 logo. But the sound is just not there. Will they work for someone wanting that classic Paiste sound and don't have the money for the professional series??? Absolutely.

+Randy Woolum I wouldnt 100% agree with you on that one. The`yre surely not 2002, because Paiste already been in a situation where they released a lot of "intermidiate" series cymbals in the 70s/80s like the 404s,505s and 2000s and they totaly stole the spotlight from the 2002s. I know what I`m talking about, I have a 2000 medium ride and actualy prefer it more to a 2002. The PST7 thin and medium crashes are very very good for a budget B8 cymbal. The hi hats are all right, but the ride does sound a bit cheap in my opinion. If you dont have the cash to go for a higher series cymbal set, the PST7 is the way to go, unless you`d fancy hunting down the good old 505 or 2000s on ebay.

***** You should be laughing at yourself because I never stated once that they're "not good enough" I said they don't sound "identical" to the 2002 series that all these shops on KZbin have claimed. If they did sound as good they'd be selling them at 2002 prices.....why the hell would a company make something that sounds as good as another one of their top end lines and charge you less than half the price??? I've had low-end drum setups, to intermediate, to professional, and take my word.....there IS a difference. Companies cut corners on inexpensive products to save THEM money which in turn saves YOU money...less time + less overhead = less cost. If the PST 7's were JUST AS GOOD as the 2002's, why wouldn't Paiste just make the 2002's like they make the PST 7's, and make a 500% profit??? Because they're not as good.....never said they weren't good enough, they're fine sounding cymbals, and probably the best cymbals there are in that price range, and very similar in sound, and identical in looks to the 2002's...but they don't sound identical, and that's the point I was making.

I’ve used the PST7 thin hats at a couple of gigs. Especially in large rooms with minimum drum microphones used (read: just bass drum), the PST7 sound travels really well. Whereas my fancy K hi hats don’t travel so well. Sure, up close the K’s are less zingy, but which hi hats I use is more room and context dependent. Neither hi hat is “bad”, each has a sound for a set of situations. I do agree that PST7 and 2002s sound different, and I would use them in different contexts.

@@pawelmorrisonthose 505’s were a secret weapon! I had some in the mid 90’s. Such underrated cymbals! Let’s not forget the swiss made alphas. Imo Paiste really excels in the b8 alloys.
