Just did a remapping removing a stuck pixel on my X-T4. Your guide explained this phenomenon in a clear and concise manner. Your channel is hands down one of the best photo / Fuji sources on KZbin and you're truly an amazing host. Thanks for doing this channel!

The knowledge dead pixels exist makes me anxious
@_H_2023
@_H_2023 Жыл бұрын
I have a 4yr old Fuji XH1 and I've recently noticed roughly ten silver dots on the sensor, I thought they were hot/dead pixels but what I didn't realise until yesterday is that they are actually dead sun spot pixels. I use Leica manual lenses and manual mode and unfortunately I've been using the camera to shoot reflective light on water to get bokeh on my images, the sun has been so bright through the lens it's left these dead pixels. It does state in your booklet when you buy your camera don't point the camera to the sun. So pal2tech I suppose this is a warning to those of you who have a Fuji X when your not using the camera protect the sensor by putting the lens cap back on after use.

Thank you. As always very informative and novel. I actually was wondering if you would consider (or have already done) a video on the custom menu. I must confess that I have not paid any attention to those, but as I am looking at the 100s that has a dial with 4-5 of those I was thinking of try to learn them and see if they really work. One thing that really bugs me is that I often use a 2 or 10 second shutter delay only to have to re-set it up every time the camera goes to sleep.

You're going in the right direction with your series here that explains the workings of buttons, dials and commands. Most of us will never be "experts" but we're keen to know how to do better. Suggestion - I haven't seen many, if any, good explanations of how best to use the Fujifilm apps for smartphones and PC's. Example: I should be using the phone app to trigger the shutter when on a tripod but starting it up and connecting just seems such a hassle ... can you make it easier??

It’s a shame pixel mapping doesn’t work in video. Had a few gross hot pixels on my xt3 and really the only options are to deal with them in post or ship it off to Fuji for a re calibration. I shipped mine off and it came back perfect but still wish I could’ve just mapped em😕

@@vishal_trivedi luckily it was still under warranty so I didn’t have to pay anything. And as far as time I was really pretty impressed. My XT3 has been repaired 4 times with stuck or death pixels. Now I know if I have a video project I cannot shoot with my Fuji, either if I have a long photo shooting. Finally I use my Fujifilm for small projects where I don't need to shoot too many pictures in short time or just for my trips. If we don't overheat the sensor just the pixels don't get burned out. I'm sorry to say Fujifilm is not for professionals. I love so much my XT3 and I bought many glasses for it and I feel so sad I cannot use it as my main camera because I cannot trust it. I'm still using my old D800 for most of my professional works, it is a camera 9 years old I have millions of shots and I never had a hot pixel on it. The Image quality of my D800 is way higher and even iso performance are quite similar. I just advice to people want to buy any Fujifilm, if you are occasional photographer or amateur photographer and you don't use video at all then those cameras can be for you but if you are a professional... I'm sorry to say I cannot recommend any Fujifilm APS-C to any professional, it is very painful because the Fuji cameras are just the most beautiful ones and the dials are quite convenient. Really sad to know Fujifilm have the most beautiful cameras but the less trustable ones.

Thanks for this, Pal. Unfortunately the fix did not work for my X-T3, but fortunately it is small and towards the border of the frame for video which is what I use it for so cropping is an option as well as a mask. Even though it didn’t work for me - the video made it feel less like the end of the world. I’m broke and couldn’t afford another camera if I wanted one.

I am able to compose a multi-exposure let's say 2 photos on the same picture but when it's time to see it in the viewer i see both individual photo not the mix of both... but if i go on my computer i see my composition. Is it normal that i cannot view the result in the viewfinder after i finish my composition ? Thanks.

The procedure to discover hot pixels didn't work for my case. The way my problematic pixels show up is through recording a video at 4k@60 for 7-8min -> then switch to taking a still image while the camera is still warm (no warning for a critical temp has been hit) -> now there are a few tiny islands of pixels stuck to a wrong colour (bright blue, red, grey/white).

Hi Pal2Tech, first, I wanna thanks for your very helpful videos - they give lots of knowledge and great tips! Second, I wanna apologize for bothering you about sharing my problem. After about 1000 first shots, I found some defective pixels in my images - often showed out in shots at night with iso 800-1250 + ss 30-60/ second. For sure, I made some tests - cap closed, sensor warmed up at 1st , 2nd, a picture taken with iso 800, ss 30". I found some results that made me confused: - 1st test: 3 defective pixels showed out (they're quite big, can be found if magnify 150%). - 2nd (after the 1st few days): they increased 6 or 7 (tiny size) - 3rd (after the 2nd few days): increased 12 ones (tiny size) - and the near final test: I counted 22 - all of them have color white (most of them is very small, hard to find but 3-5 of them is easy to see) Found them made me worry so much (because when I bought my XH1, it had defective pixel free and I quite sure I didn't make any taboo in photography as shoot the sun directly). I can't distinguish they are dead/ hot or stuck pixel (in Vietnam, almost Fujier call all of them are: dead pixel, make clear is overabundant). Please notice that they're all white (not red/ green or blue). I hope your answer make me clear whether my camera got dead/ hot or stuck pixel? It is normal? Can I feel free to enjoy taking photos with my camera? References: Image 1 (full size): ibb.co/vV5Lm16 Image 2 (Cropped): ibb.co/7R7yrfn Many thanks and best wishes to you.

I would actually instead do some long exposures, as most sensors won't have enough time to heat up at 1/1000s or at high ISOs for brief periods of time (less than say 1 second). Most hot pixels will appear when exposures are longer and/or the ISO is higher (ie. more power being sent to the sensor) and combining these two would generate the most heat in many cases (ie. long exposure at high ISO so say 20-30 seconds at ISO 3200). I would take a bunch of photos (maybe a dozen or so) at different ISOs and shutter speeds (ranging from maybe 1/10s all the way down to 30 seconds, and vary the ISO). This will give you a good idea of how th sensor reacts to varying conditions. It takes a bit more time, but will provide a more complete set of images for you to gauge the scenarios where hot pixels are more prone to occur and how bad they are. This applies to any camra, not just Fuji's. I also disagree a bit about reviewing the out of camera JPEGs. The best way to view this is using a program that does NOT clone out stuck/hot pixels. Out of camera JPEGs may still show hot or stuck pixels IF they are bad enough, but generally some cameras will actually mask these out (or remove them) even if you have high ISO NR turned on, as part of the JPEG processing. I would say to ALWAYS use the RAW files as they will contain the most data obviously, being RAW.

I did some basic configurations to get the camera ready for use but I did not do anything in particular for the stuck pixels. Anyway, I do not see them anymore. In any case, I can still return or exchange the camera as I just got it. Would you suggest I do that? Are they likely to be a reaccuring issue or are they a sign that I received a defective camera body?

Indeed, when I load a raw picture in LR it automatically removes the dead, stuck/ hotpixel. I guess this is a default feature or something? I am happy with it because my Nikon cameras can not fix the problem by itself. You have to go to a Nikon service centre and pay 50 bucks for it.😕

@aristotle_4532
@aristotle_4532 Жыл бұрын
The best solution is to fix these with processing in post. RAW image processing apps have a filter that allows setting a filter using numbers in a small pixel area, so this can be put into an action. If you log the camera that is used on each shot, it can be a permanent video filter, until new pixels show up. An averqge xt4 has 1 to 3. The pixels may be visible up to iso1250 and disappear above 1600. You can see them easily in video mode in manual focus with the high zoom by scanning the image in iso1250. Some manufactures actively look for hot and very nonlinear pixels and remove them, but this kills normal image parts such as stars. Dust removal tools are also too aggressive. The correct in-camera method is interpolation from nearby pixels.

Fujifilm straight up IGNORED me when I complained for like the third time. The camera has so much to offer, if it actually works, which it doesn't, and fuji doesn't care. Rant over haha.
