@ijjimem, Another question would be “why are you intent on Jews not have a country like your fellow Arabs do?” Arab countries are 20+ to 1 for Jews, and Arabs in Gaza are fighting to get rid of this sliver of land for Jews.

The Palestinians who are willing to compromise, almost make me tearyeyed of joy. I have cared about the conflict since 2001 when I was 13 and I have no personal ties to it except the fact that it has been important for me for such a long time. I also understand the Israelis and Palestinians who are not willing to compromise, but in all conflict, compromise is necessary.

+++, the troubles(and yes, that civil war as well) in Ireland did not end with Irish independence, but at least it was an important first step and really helped. And here it's an excruciating torture to make even first 0,5 of a step. I personally feel same for Israelis who are against occupation-but the polls make my eyes wanna bleed, apparently the war camp will rule for the next couple of years.

Palestine never belonged to the Palestinians. It was never stolen. Palestine - was a region that both Jewish and Arab people shared - it was always a part of other empires, never an independent country. That is why there was never a King of Palestine. The UN partitioned the land into a two states. To accommodate both the Jews and the Arabs. in 1947. The Arabs rejected their half of the partition because they wanted the two halves. In 1947 India and Pakistan managed the two state Partition of India into two independent countries. India and Pakistan were not as greedy as the Palestinian Arabs. Now that Israel exists and is not going any where it’s too late now. That would be like India demanding Pakistan back.Lol

With Israel gone, they'll realize they've been sold a lie for 73 years. The lie that going back to pre-48 borders will solve all of their problems. Their "dream country" will become another Muslim brotherhood infested dictatorship in the middle-east, because for 7 decades they never envisioned any sustainable future, other than destroying Israel. And as history has proven again and again: if you build an entire collective identity on negating someone else's sovereignty - when you no longer have the big bad "OTHER" to fight against, you'll turn on each other. If it ever comes to pass, the Christian Palestinians will be the first to learn that.

@Oussama11 My logic is quite sound. The Arabs could have had their homes if they hadn't waged a war against the Jews when the partition plan was announced (and frankly, for 3 decades before that). They lost the war they started, along with a good portion of the lands allocated to them, and have been repeating the same mistake ever since. Well, it doesn't look like they learned anything from the past so their future is guaranteed to be a disaster as well. The entire human history is full of wars that have been fought and lost. The Arikara people were driven out of the Black Hills of North America by the Cheyenne peoples. Then the Lakota peoples arrived from Minnesota in the 18th century, drove out the Cheyenne to the west, and claimed the land as their own sacred territory. Then the gold rush happened and The US government took the Black Hills from the Lakota and European Americans from the south settled in the area. The Lakota, still bitter at their loss, will never admit that they themselves did to others what has been done to them. And even so, their life quality is immeasurably better than it would've been if it wasn't for the US. The same exact thing goes for the Palestinians. Just one example to illustrate my point is the famous Muhamad Hadid, Bella Hadid's father, who still whines about becoming a refugee from Safed at the age of 1 years old. At the same time, he boasts about his maternal grandfather who was an sheik from an Arab tribe that originated in the Hijaz, who destroyed at least 9 Druze villages and drove much of the Druze population out of the Galilee region to what is now Syria. Ask any of the remaining Druze people near Safed how they feel about the Al-Zaydani period, and trust me, they won't have kind words to offer. This is all to say that those who, instead of building a sustainable future for their children, uncompromisingly cling to an imaginary glorious life (that never existed in material reality outside of Palestinian propaganda) in the ruins of a village 40 kilometers from their current residence, where several dozen farmer families lived with no electricity connection, no sewage system and no schools, are hurting only themselves and future generations. Personally, I don't care if they repeat the same mistake for another hundred years, but what I'm saying is simply the truth, as taught to us by history.

@Oussama11 Please don't try to sell me this BS propaganda about peaceful living with the Arabs, ok? Amin El-Husseini was supportive of the Nazi cause, and personally met with Hitler. He orchestrated the 1936-1939 riots that pushed the Brits to limit Jewish immigration to the Land of Israel (BEFORE WW2) causing many Jews to die at the hands of Nazis. One woman in the video mentions her family is from Lifta. What she forgets to mention is that the Arabs of Lifta attacked the Jewish villages nearby in 1929 and 1938 (again- BEFORE WW2). Jews had every right to live in the land of Israel, certainly no less of a right than Arabs from Arabia. The Arab nationalists rejected all Jewish claims to the land because they wanted to have a pan-Arab state in the entire middle east, and didn't agree to share. To this day Article 1 of the Palestinian National charter from 1968 states that "Palestine is the homeland of the Arab Palestinian people; it is an indivisible part of the Arab homeland, and the Palestinian people are an integral part of the Arab nation." It rejects entirely any sovereign state that isn't Arab, on ANY part of the land, as it has for more than a hundred years. Which is why Palestinians keep loosing.

My take from this video is peace is not possible unless Israel vacates 1948 lands, 1967 lands, and ceases to exist as a state. The Palestinians will never see any of this. The reality of this situation is there is an Israel state and there needs to be a Palestinian State with lands agreed upon peacefully, but neither side appears to give an inch. They would rather attend funerals than live in peace.

in reference to the 48 lands "Yes it would be required, its my hometown". if she is at least 73 i'll eat my hat. My father got out of Uruguay when he was 20. He was afraid Escobar's family was going to plea to be sent there. He didn't want to deal with drug dealers coming to his hometown and the fear associated with that. He came to the U.S. and never looked back. I would never cry about that being my home. Unless I actually grew up there and was removed by another.

my grandparents were born in haifa and jaffa before 1948, when they were forcibly evicted and their land was stolen. subsequently, their children (my parents) were born as refugees. a generation later, i was born in australia and ive lived here all my life. yet, i practise palestinian culture everyday- whether it be the dialect i speak, the food i make and eat, the music i listen to, the cultural clothes i wear to events, the traditions i uphold etc. (note: i have arab friends that aren't palestinian- the culture they practise is distinctly different, affirming the uniqueness of the palestinian culture i observe. many try to lump us all as one group- thats just not true) because of this, palestine will forever be my homeland. you can't deny the cultural linkage that is very much alive.

The very word "palestine" is a Roman insult for Israel, derived from a Hebrew word, Philistine, that means invader and has nothing to do with muslim invaders of Israel. @ j senor re _it's written 4 times in the old testament, it clearly originated from jewish writings. sucks when your own history returns and fucks you hey_ There is no mention of "Palestine" in the TaNaKH, which you referred to as "Old Testament". However (1) "Pellesht" is mentioned as the territory of the Philistines, a seafaring people that likely originated from the present-day Mycenian Grecian Isles region. (2)There is no clear cultural or historical link between the Arabic-speaking non-Jews who have adopted the name "Palestinian" to describe their national identity in recent decades and the long-extinct Philistines. And (3) the term Philistines likely derives from the Semitic root "P/L/SH" which connotes a an intruder or an invader. It's odd that a group which claims indigenous status assumes a name which means they are foreign invaders, but whatever.

Plus the jews did help us a lot, in Andalus for example, and in Bagdad, they were part of this great civilization and helped building it. And in the modern time their output in science has been really big. Just look at Einstein or John Von Neumann (my scientific heroes tbh). No it's not honest to say that like that. Why didn't Arab leaders vote to accept the UN resolution 181? There could have been a Palestinian state 70 years ago. But the Arabs said no. Why are there people kept in refugee status for 70 years going now into the fifth and sixth generation? Because the Arab states won't accept their fellow Arab refugees who speak the same language, have the same religion and same culture into full citizenship. And the UN UNWRA have a vested interest in getting international money to keep their jobs. Most of these speakers admit what world leaders want to pretend isn't so. They don't want peace with Israel they want Israel gone. And that is just not going to happen.

I am a supporter of the Palestinians, and their right to self determination. However, there has to be a compromise and an acceptance that at best the 1967 borders can be the solution. Besides, beyond a two state solution there needs to be a two state cooperation in terms of economic cooperation and the sharing of resources such as water. In other words, you cannot just ignore each other even if a two state solution becomes reality. Actually, with inspired leadrship on both sides and a leap of faith the mess that currently is the middle east can become a paradise.

Their were no 1967 borders, just armistice lines created after Israel's war of independence. Both sides actually explicitly stated that they weren't borders. The West Bank and Gaza have nothing to do with International law. They are just the lines drawn when the war of independence ended. a war the Arabs started by the way. Lets not forget that the Arabs in Palestine were offered peace and statehood and instead chose war. Over and over they have been offered peace and statehood and always choose war.

They are hard-wired against any peace or resolution or compromise. They want nothing less than everything that they want. In the Israel-Egypt peace accords the process got hung up for quite a time over a 600 meter stretch of beach at Taba, where Israel built a $40,000,000 resort. Sinai is 15,000 square miles and they wouldn't budge over 600 meters of beach. Israel gave them Taba and the resort. The peace agreement was definitely worth it; 40 plus years of a peaceful (albeit cold peace) border but it speaks to Arab intransigence. Then there's Gaza. Unilateral withdrawal by Israel in 2005. The beaches in Gaza are beautiful. They could've had a wonderful resort economy but they made it into a rocket base and tunnel strewn sewer. I only see the status quo in my lifetime.

The Jews are the only ones with legal claims to these homes, and the Arabs were offered the option of staying if they paid rent, which they refused to do. As far as right of return is concerned, Israel in its many peace deals has offered the right of return to Arabs actually born inside Israel, but the Palestinians demand that this right be granted to their descendants, which is unprecedented in history. And being displaced 5 miles, while remaining in the same geography, ethnic groups, language groups - that is not oppression. Look at the displacements that took place in Europe and Asia during the same period. Are you aware that almost a million Jews were forcibly displaced from Arab countries in MENA, that an area five times the size of Israel was stollen, and property worth more than what the Arabs lost in Israel? What about the right of return for these people, or reparations? Your understanding of history is incomplete, selective, and biased. And all of this could have been avoided if the Arabs had accepted the Peel Commission partition plan in 1937 or the UN partition plan in 1947 - but they refused and instead waged war.

That depends on your point of view. Dhimmis managed as best they could. Historically, everyone lived in peace under the Turks because the latter would ruthlessly crush any rebellion and move people around.

I love Israel but the situation is complete madness and I don't think there is a proper solution. Imagine if someone else occupied your land with the help of foreign powers and then offered you a chunk of it back so you're cool with it.

There's a Palestine that dwells inside all of us, a Palestine that needs to be rescued: a free Palestine where all people regardless of color, religion, or race coexist; a Palestine where the meaning of the word "occupation" is only restricted to what the dictionary says rather than those plenty of meanings and connotations of death, destruction, pain, suffering, deprivation, isolation and restrictions that Israel has injected the word with. The younger are palestinians the more they want the whole land before 1948. That is to say, while there is less and less people born in 1947, there is more and more people who want to go before 1948 (I don't use "come back" it will be anachronic). What is the appreciation of their current life, the uchronic claim for "come back", it's a way to disguise vacuity, except the only life motive, war to Israël. Perspectives of peace: ZERO. Sense of reality: ZERO International fair support: ZERO International handling support : iran, turkey.

@Oussama11 while I agree with you in principle, in practice it is too late for your proposed solution. The jews of 48 are long dead and now you’re dealing with their descendants that were born and raised in Israel and have no European citizenship. They ain’t going anywhere.
