The comments were removed, but they were saying fucked up stuff like "women dont belong in metal, she should be raped." I know it's hard to believe, but there were at least 5-10 of those comments right after the video came out. I meant to reply to one of them, obviously I wouldn't tell someone who is complimenting her to "keep those thoughts in their head," as that's just fucking retarded.

Moonsorrow - yeah I was pissed too at your comment at 1st but, now I get it. Actually the same happened to me months ago, and then I made a joke that the person deleted his comment after my reply. Banger then said they had removed the comment because of its content.

Definitely dig this album. I here a lot of Melvins influence in some of their riffs. In addition, I hear some Alice In Chains influence. Vocally, I hear some Layne Staley in his annunciation and even some "Dirt" guitar riffs.

Great review! My first reaction is that this is an interesting step forward for them stylistically and it's a beautiful listen but maybe not as viscerally emotional and raw as Sorrow and Extinction was for me. I can see this being a more accessible album because they picked up the pace a bit more and the vocals have been improved in both performance and mixing. Some of the songs are leaner and catchier too, so I can see why you would expect them to grow in popularity thanks to this record. First listen 8.5/10 for me, great stuff! I especially love that slowcore into bluesy solo intro on Dancing in Madness.

Really good review. However, I can't agree on A Plea For Understanding's solo-vocals, I didn't like them in the beginning and understand where you're coming from, but to me the slight "offness" of the notes really creates the atmosphere of solitude it should. Also just a hint: 7:29 isn't a real violin, but rather a volume-swelling effect created by picking a note on the guitar and then turning the volume knob up, which sounds similar to a violin.

I usually like Doom, and was a big fan of the Khemmis record last year, but for some reason I find it very hard to get into into Pallbearer... Maybe it's the vocals, or the meandering songwriting... In any case, I'll keep trying considering how great everybody says they are. Hopefully it will eventually click (and I am indeed appreciating the record more with each listening).
@mescaliiiiine7 жыл бұрын
Why force it, it doesn't have to click.
@BlixTheGoblin7 жыл бұрын
^Exactly, dont try to force yourself to like a band just because a lot of other people praise them. That's not what underground metal is about, the conforming musical tastes should be left to pop music. If its not your thing, its not your thing. Find other bands that DO click for you. Be an individual.

I'm a big stoner/doom/sludge fan, and for me, Pallbearer's best record was Foundations of Burden. Despite that, I think this record is fucking fantastic, I love what's going on here. Its not the style change that disappoints me about this album, honestly I dont expect a forward thinking band like Pallbearer to keep making the same album over and over again, who would? Who even wants that? I actually enjoy their style change, it still captures the essence of Pallbearer. What disappoints me, is the SOUND change. Its so much less FULL, and HUGE. That's what made Pallbearer sound so goddamn good, and Heartless just has a thinner, emptier, more lifeless tone. Still, having said that, they did not fuck up with this record, its still very good. However, I still prefer their older records...
