Thanks for the update on the rocks being pushed up to the surface by the landslide. I hope they can slow the landslide motion. The rate of a foot per week that they measured in July 2024 was very fast for land with homes on top.

So... to get this straight. That beach you're standing on, because the slide is pushing toward the ocean, that beach has been rising in elevation as landmass is added to that area?

The slide is under the exposed land-as it moves down it is causing the ground above it to uplift. So all of what he is walking on was below sea level 10 months ago.

yes - it has come out of the ocean by at least 40 feet - maybe more, in 10 months... that is pretty incredible and drastic movement..

Tough situation. Hope pumping out water helps stabilize the situation so that homeowners can make decisions on how to proceed.

Truely dramatic footage there. Having grown up in the south bay and still have my plumbing business in the area, I used to scuba dive those reefs, and yes it was about 30 ft deep there. Amazing to see geological formations in real time. I have customers in the area who are unsure if they will have a home next year. Fingers crossed they do, but it's been moving my whole life, so hard to say what the future holds.

Just curious. How is it that you are the only one on the beach? Is there public access or did you need to get permission to do your video?

@@timneely946 there is no public access and many of the trails in the area have been closed. I am a member of the beach club.

Coastal commission says you can be anywhere under the high tide line, besides military bases etc
