SHE will ALWAYS be my "Pookie'. To understand my ADDICTION to THIS WOMAN... See Family Guy episode of Peter Griffin & the Kathy Ireland cutout. My poster of Pam would have got me some nice change. 😄 LOVE YOU PAM!!!

I can't believe this. Where did this footage come from? When Tavis Smiley hosted BET Tonight from 1996-2001 on BET, before the Tavis Smiley Show on PBS.

Love her but don’t understand her take on blaxploitation! How could she not think it would ring negative to some people, removing the e for bla still sounds like exploitation, blax jux made it even worse! She’s trying to put a positive spin on it! Same as the black singles/albums chart Billboard used to have!

Blaxploitation was not meant to be "worse". It was meant to showcase black actors in starring roles in movies they weren't getting from "white" Hollywood and to give their audience something to crave to. Exploitation is not a bad term depending on HOW it's being used. You can exploit for the good and in this case, it was. It just got silly when things began to get repetitive and there wasn't really much differentiation in terms of storytelling and genre which were typically stereotypical (drugs, crime, the ghetto, etc.) and many movies were made very cheaply and not taken as seriously as they could have been. But it was a woke period for blacks never seen before in movie history.
