For a small country, it packs a real punch- it’s the 11th time Panama takes pole position in IL’s Annual Global Retirement Index…. and with good reason. Read more about Panama here: bit.ly/3FG4Qfq
Today, Panama is one of the easiest retirement destinations you can travel to from the U.S. or Canada. Panama’s cosmopolitan capital, Panama City, is the only true First World city in Central America. There are direct flights to Panama from all over the U.S., as well as several cities in Canada and Europe. This modern, welcoming country is only three hours from Miami and five hours from New York. And it uses the US dollar as its currency.

Mexico has TROVIT, so I was hoping that Panama and/or Coronado had an easily-accessed source as well. Thank you in advance for any help with this that you can/will offer. Have a great day!

As I understand, the pensionado requires proof of $1000/month income. Do you know if that must come from a company pension or government pension (Social Security) -- or can it come from a personal retirement account? Thanks!

The US State Dept website shows 180 days for US tourists, but I’ve seen 30/60/90 days quoted elsewhere. Is there an updated allowance for 2022? And if so, is it enough time for the residency process during that initial visit? I understand you’re required to have an attorney for the process, but haven’t researched what documents I’ll need to bring with me. Any links or info would be appreciated! Really appreciate this channel, loved this particular video, and excited to see more about your exciting move! Best wishes for an easy transition.

We are frequent travelers, so good neighborhood convenient to PTY would be ideal. Also, a little specific? My wife loves to sew and design clothes. Is there a sewing industry or sewing culture in Panama. That would be her chief hobby lving here.

I believe you would have an opportunity in the Beach Areas, I have a vacation rental business in Coronado, and find many plumbers and electricians are so so busy, there is room for more! Come down and I'll introduce you around and you can make the decision for yourself if would be worthwhile. I do suggest that you have savings, as it's stressful to move anywhere counting purely on full time work to keep you busy. Also, you will find that contractor wages will be lower that what you are used to, however inline with the lower cost of living. Imperative you speak to a lawyer to work legally in Panama.

One of the many problems no one addresses is the Panamanian currency. Although Panama has its own currency (the Balboa), however, Panama also uses the U.S. dollar. The Balboa to U.S. dollar exchange rate is 1-to-1, which doesn't make since when it comes to GDP. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Panama was worth 52.94 billion US dollars in 2020. Compare that to the U.S. GDP in 2020 at $20.93 trillion. So how did the 1-to-1 exchange rate balance off? Someone with subject matter expertise in economy explain this...I am not convinced that Panama is the best or most beneficial place to retire.

Hi dear lady. I'm Hugue 65 from Brussels- Belgium and I've decided to no e to.Panama for fiscal reasons first as the hungry Belgian taxman is shaving 500 € of my 2300 € of pension which I find irritating. But then I started watching the vlogs of people who had made the move and I saw the nature and I was sold. With the taxes that I'll not pay I can rent a 2 bed 2 baths flat somewhere in the highland or at the seaside. So I'll come to explore and open a bank account in May or June this year then fly to Brussels to submit my Panamean bank account information to the Office des pensions then I'll fly to.Panama for good. That's the plan . Cheers Hugue
