Because he jumps all over the topic without any clear structure?
@Coopersx15 жыл бұрын
The GH5's menu system is extensive and and his coverage and explanations are easy to follow. He even points out when he will "cover topics" later in the video when necessary. That way he stays focused on the topic at hand. An Example Would Be:....8:35 sec into the video......after demonstrating how to snap a picture....he states he will discuss the different snap shot modes later in the video. That way the viewer is aware there are more features available (then just snap shot) and helps keep things on track and on point. I have found it best to have your camera in hand, and to go through the motions with him as he explains and demonstrates the camera's functions. . That is the fastest way to learn your way around the camera. Also have a pen and paper ready so you can jot down notes to refer back to aspects of the system you would like to learn more about. A table of contents menu for this video may have be helpful, but that would have had to been ridiculously long given the GH5's menu structure. Having watched this video enough times myself, I now know whats on here and take from it what I need. Excellent video and in my opinion second to none.
@palpytine7 жыл бұрын
There's a much faster way of assigning a function to custom fn buttons. Simple hold down the button in question for a second or so and it'll pop up a menu asking what you want it to do.

Thanks for this awesome tutorial. I bought this camera for my online fitness business following your review. I film my workouts solo but am having a lot of problems with the autofocus despite the camera having the update. Any suggestions for what settings I should use for filming pilates on a mat. Not a huge amount of movement but enough for it to go in and out and if I ever do a jumping sequence (not so often) it can lose focus and literally not come back and the entire class is lost. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong and it could be better but I'm a bit lost. Would HUGELY appreciate some guidance. Nic
@SpaceCadet4Jesus3 жыл бұрын
I noticed there is a option to change focus points to a larger area. You'll have to look in the manual, as I literally bought my GH5 two days ago and just getting acquainted with it. Or...you could change the camera to manual focus by manually focusing on someone else on the mat, then exchange places, do a few movements and replay it for accuracy. In a week or do, I should know more about this.

Hey Tony, thsnk you again for tnis video. What cinema lense would you recommend for profile close-ups on a GH5, that will NOT distort a person's face? 50mm tends to be the standard with cinematographers, but considering the crop factor in the GH5, what is the best focal length for beautiful close-ups?

Is it worth purchasing the GH5 over the G80. I’m no camera expert and currently just film myself training golf direct to camera. Everything up to now is done on auto but using an old cannon camcorder. Not sure whether as it’s just me on my own filming I could get the most from the GH5 and thus thought the G80 might be good enough. Any thoughts would be much appreciated

Great tutorial, but it needs an important update. In 2020, the new firmware requires the new UHS-II, V-90 SD cards at twice the price of the older cards. With the Sandisk cards you recommended, you cannot use the twin-card two copies feature. I bought the wrong cards and tried to use them to no avail. Panasonic told me I need the new v-90 cards.

As another proud owner and KZbinr as well, I do agree that the GH5 is the best camera for what we do. There are things that they can do on the software side to make it better. For one get rud of that mountain and flower focus distance ranger. It's better to have what the S1H has with the actual measurement. Two, give us more paid upgrades. I can't just think that the only paid upgrade was VLOGL. Which tells me the camera can do more. I bet a higher dynamic range in the shadows and more. They are holding it back. Here why say this. The G9; better processor same sensor, but it won't work with the audio adapter. Panasonic is just stopping it. Isn't true the BMPCC4K is the same sensor as the GH5s?

Great overview vid! Thanks for your efforts and for sharing your expertise! 😁 One slight correction, during the time-lapse discussion (about 41 minutes in) you say "60 shooting at 60 FPS you will need 60 images for 1 minute of video" but clearly you meant "1 second," still there's probably a few people out there that will be confused by this. I’m planning on getting a new camera soon. It’s so annoying that I’ve got no way to try them out first. I’m planning on getting a A7 III. I’ll o it be able to afford one lens at the mo though. What are peoples thoughts on this? I shoot video occasionally but stills is priority. A full frame, with 4K25fps capabilities is a must. I own a D5600 currently, & have borrowed a 6D mk2 until jan 7th, so I’ve played around with Nikon and Canon. I really do want and like the look of the Sony, by year a lot about these GH5s. Am I making the correct decision with A7iii for a photo & video camera? & what lenses are cost effective as I’ll be needing lenses in a month or so.

Regards from Stockholm, When I set the camera to Manual in Creative Movie Mode, the shutter speed jumps from 1/50 to 1/120 the moment I press the record button and reverts to 50 upon ending the recording. I went into the menu options in Creative Movie Mode and chose Exposure Mode. I tried choosing M and S. In both cases, as soon as I press record, the shutter speed disappears from the screen and reappears after ending the shoot. Is that normal? Any ideas?

Thanks for the lens recommendations AND how they perform with AF etc. Lots of people say you can adapt *any* lens but leave off two important considerations: 1. The camera's ability to interact with the lens - AF OR other issues and 2. provide guidance as to which lenses make the most sense and why. I have owned the Lumix FZ1000 (fixed lens) for years and DON'T own any lenses so I need guidance in choosing focal lengths, native and third party lenses and the pros and cons of these choices so I end up with a lens ecosystem that makes sense now and for the future - esp as 3? new mounts have been introduced in just the past year. I have learned that regardless of MFT's future (2020) this sensor delivers the best IBIS, 4K 60fps, no overheating, and excellent still + video quality, great battery life, and "acceptable" AF - and when better AF is needed there is nothing to stop a person from using a second camera in situations that demand great AF like Canon M50 M6 Mk II RL (for AF & Low light) or Sony A6x00 series.

One thing to note about the dual SD card recording is that it won't work with videos shot in AVCHD format. I discovered that when shooting some videos in AVCHD and noticed that it only recorded video to a single card and not both. I contacted Panasonic about it and they confirmed that AVCHD videos do not get recorded to both cards and claim that it's not technically possible to do so. Another thing to note is that while you are reviewing photos on the camera and you delete a photo from the camera preview it does not in fact delete the photo from both SD card slots, it only deletes it from card slot 1 and the file will still remain on the card in slot 2, which is kind of annoying when it comes time to transfer the files to my computer that I have to remember that I must grab the card from slot 1 to ensure that I don't inadvertently copy over anything that I had already decided to delete.

Thanks for this excellent video! I usually film in 4K 50FPS and export in 4K 25 FPS via Adobe Premiere Pro (Slow motion and no slow motion scenes). To achieve a shutter angle of 180°, I use a shutter speed of 1/100s. Someone told me, that for the no slow motion scenes, I need a shutter speed of 1/50s. Is this correct? I thought that when exporting 50FPS in 25FPS, just every other frame is omitted, so that a shutter speed of 1/100s is correct. Explanations are greatly appreciated.
