Nice review, well done! It's a fine zoom for sure. Such a pleasure to use, light-weight and quality. I don't use it that often, but when i do, it's pleasurable indeed.

Thank you for such a great review. Please could you review the Mk II version of this lens. Some people say there are differences whilst others say not so it would be good if you could review the current version. Thanks again

Thank you for the review. Is this a good lens for shooting video and can you use it in manual mode? I notice. You have the international version of this lens. Is this just as high quality as the US version?

Yes, it's great for video.

Thank you for such a good and detailed review! Subscribed to your channel) How much worse manual focusing on this lens in comparison with mechanical ones (like sigma art series). I now have a sigma 18-35 but looking for more compact alternative for traveling. I'm afraid that manual focusing on Panasonic will be a pain after sigma. I'm only shooting video. And does the camera correct distortion in video mode? I've never used native glass :)

Sorry for asking so many questions) But you tested both olympus 12-40 and leica 12-35. Did you see any difference in manual focusing mechanism? I've noticed that on Olympus it's a bit different. but is it any better?

Version 1. Most reports say there is no important optical difference, only support for OIS 2.0

But if I'm not mistaken there was a firmware update for V1 to support OIS 2.

@@Camerahoarders do you think the improvement in OIS mainly applies to video? I'm mainly looking to use for stills.

Hi! I´m just bought a G9 (for convinience, mainly for video) with pre-owned Lumix 12-60/3.5-5.6 (mainly for weather sealing) but considering low budget. Can you recomend a parafocal lens for video?

Sir,could you please recomend between G9,Fuji X-H1 and Sony A7 iii? What would you choose? I am a hobbiest and want a hybrid camera for the family pics and videos. Thanks in advance?
@Vaptomwen
@Vaptomwen 6 жыл бұрын
shahzad ahmed For the price of Sony A7 iii with say the 24-105 f/4 you could have the G9 with equivalent 12-60 & maybe 8-18 or 35-100 & another. The G9 is the more compact especially with lenses taken in account & should be enough image quality for 99% of people & especially if your newish to photography you will most probably find it the easiest to use with the nicest interface of the 3. Fuji is a great , I have a XT2 myself but the XH1 perhaps a good second choice, Sony 3rd , has the quality but it is expensive & being full frame isn’t the lightest or most compact or durable & has the most expensive lenses of the three.

@@Vaptomwen was the g9 compararable in iq with the xt2? Specifically the colors, I have a xt1 myself and was wondering if going to the G9 would be a good step

Mike Tuan I think the G9 is very good at colour, image quality is good for 21.5 inch screen. After the Canon 5D IV reviews, mostly bagged Canon I really began to reacquaint myself with love of Canon colour, which I prefer the most. Panasonic is very good now & Fuji XT2 while good , especially when applied with the right simulation to the right scene is an in my view a step back from the XT1 , Fuji lost some of its magic chasing specs,XT3 I’m not hopeful. Panasonic I feel is at least level & simulation like L Monochrome D absolutely rocks, Fuji don’t have it to themselves,they never really did. The G9 is a wonderful camera an accommodates longer lengths even better , try even you don’t buy the 50-200 or 100-400 , Fuji, Nikon & Canon can’t come even close.

@@Vaptomwen thanks for your detail response, just pulled the trigger on a G9 based on your rec. The color for panasonic does seem to have come a long way from couple years back. Do you have any lens you would rec? I will be doing 70% stills, 30% video, shooting mostly portrait, family, some landscape. I am debating between the 12-35 or the leica 12-60, if you own these two lens, does the Leica display some "Leica" characters?
@Vaptomwen
@Vaptomwen 6 жыл бұрын
Mike Tuan I mostly prefer the flexibility of zooms for travel & general shooting so for me the 12-60 , 8-18 are the most important, followed by the very compact nature of the 100-400 & now 50-200. I don’t especially care for the slight variable aperture of the new Trinity of f/2.8-4 lenses for compactness similarly why many preferred Fuji 18-55 over 16-55 which I own & for me is a departure from constant aperture . I rarely shoot portrait or use primes with any of my systems, but for the G9 perhaps the Olympus 45mm or 42.5 Noctitron maybe of interest to you . A great benefit of m4/3 is the massive selection of lenses & range for the same focal lengths . Some Panasonic lenses have a aperture ring like a Fuji lens so much, maybe the 15mm or 20mm f/1.7 ii very compact but not necessarily the most praised of lenses.
