I really like the Design of my G9 but man, that S1 is just so sexy. It's probably not that important, but I love the Design. And I think Panasonic perfected the Button placements like no other company has. Don't think I can ever go back to another company if they don't improve 200% in that regard.

Nice video as usual. Thanks. I'm too heavily invested in M43 lenses to justify this, and until there are some decent prime lenses available for L mount I suspect a G9 with the best prime lenses would be a better option for many. Cheaper, lighter, faster. As a GH5, GH5S and G9 owner, I'll trade up to a GH6 if it combines GH5S low light with G9 stabilisation. Phase detect would be nice too, but I can live with manually focusing my videos.

I appreciate your very knowledgeable reviews. I think you are one of the best camera reviewers on KZbin. I like how you consider Panasonic cameras viable options while many other reviewers dismiss Panasonic because of the "poor" contrast-based video autofocus. I own the G9 and think it is an exceptional camera for the enthusiast/serious amateur. I hope to keep abreast of the camera technology going on but many of us need to wait years before we rebuy a new camera body. You'll always be on my radar.

This is a helpful review. I'm enjoying my G9 now shooting mostly stills. Based on this review, if I were to start doing more video in varying light conditions, I would probably add the the GH5s rather than going to the S1 since I already have MFT lenses. You really didn't say anything that shows the S1 to be so superior to the Panasonic MFT cameras that it would be worth the cost to add a new ecosystem. Still, among the full-frame mirrorless cameras, it looks like this camera competes well with all of them (Sony, Nikon, Canon).

False Color? (I know S1 lacks the flip out screen). Also, which low light / high ISO video performance do you like better: S1 or a7 III? Thanks in advance.

You forgot to mention the biggest disadvantage of this camera. they have stifled variable frame rates with completely automatic exposure settings. The shutter speed is locked at 180 which is nice. however you are unable to adjust either your aperture or ISO. In my experience it seems that the camera prefers the lowest ISO setting possible. This is problematic as in multiple scenarios the camera has chosen to shoot wide open. It also will not openly tell you what settings you're shooting at. Additionally, the exposure values change by way of aperture when focusing between light and dark portions of the image. This fluctuation of exposure whilst recording video is not acceptable. It's completely ludacris for professional camera to be limited with automatic settings. This is something Panasonic needs to address for this camera to be successful in my opinion.
